Summary
“Eddie… You’re not failing him. And you’re not an inadequate father. Trust me, I’m familiar with what that looks like. And I would do anything for Christopher. For either of you.”
“You’re so good to us. I love you.” Eddie answered simply, his hands grabbed Buck’s biceps and pulled him close, “Come here.”
Buck smiled and leaned down over him to kiss him sweetly, “Say it again.”
“I love you,” Eddie’s hands climbed to grab Buck’s collar and pull him back into a heated kiss, sloppy and silly.

Summary
“Why didn’t you say anything?” Eddie asked, looking hurt at being left out.
“Because none of you trusted me.” Buck said quietly, moving to the kitchen. “None of you have ever talked about it, and none of you ever looked at my perspective of what happened, so … so I kept it to myself. I just … I didn’t want me being evicted to be the reason you were all suddenly caring about me again.”
“We still cared about you.” Eddie frowned.
“You called me exhausting.” Buck said sadly, grabbing a couple beers from his fridge and holding one out to Eddie who was just staring at it. “In the middle of a grocery store, and no one said anything about it. No one argued. You just … as far as I could tell, you all felt that way. I know I overshare sometimes. I know I talk too much. It’s fine. This place is half the price of the loft, so I don’t have worries about affording anything; groceries, water, all that. Please take the beer.” Eddie snapped his eyes up to Buck and grabbed it finally.
“I’m sorry.” Eddie blurted out.
“Don’t worry about it.” Buck shrugged. “You weren’t the first, and probably won’t be the last, to ever call me exhausting.”

Summary
"And I—I can’t—I can’t have permanent again,” he says, his voice breaking. “I can’t let someone new get that close.”
“I’m close,” Buck says simply, only teasing a little, but Eddie goes quiet and gives him a look that steals the words right out of Buck’s mouth.
It means something, he thinks, but he doesn’t know what. Eddie swallows, and Buck tries to decipher what that means, watches Eddie’s throat bob, stares into the darkness of his eyes.
“Are you permanent?” Eddie asks eventually, voice slightly hoarse.
Buck can’t tear his eyes away. “Yes,” he replies quietly. “I’m permanent.”

Summary
Set season 4x08, Breaking Point. The hostage situation takes a very bad turn when, as the gunman is pushed off of the roof by the irate homeowner, the gun goes off hitting Buck in the chest.
P.S. The working title for was Shot By The Heart And You’re To Blame, which was a rip off of the lyrics from You Give Love A Bad Name by Bon Jovi but I felt like it just didn’t mesh with the story.
