Summary
Realizing one night that he's in love with Eddie, Buck decides to call in to a radio station and confess his feelings. Surely, no one listens to the radio anymore, and certainly not to a sappy-love song radio station either. But of course, there is one person who hears his confession on the radio… someone he never expected.
Or, Chris learns that Buck is in love with his dad, and decides that chaos is the best way to deal with it.

Summary
Eddie is certain of not many things. He’s certain that Chris is the greatest kid in the world, he’s certain his abuela’s tamales beat out every other ones he’s ever had, the Earth is round, God sort-of-maybe-exists—even if Eddie is certain He hates him—and he and Buck are best friends.
They’re best friends, Eddie is certain of that. And certainty of that fact comes with the confidence that nothing can or will ever change that fact of the universe. Buck and Eddie are best friends, even if they’re kissing like they’re more than that.
Oh, that brings him to another thing that Eddie is certain of: he’s straight. Which means they could never, ever be anything more than best friends. Not that Eddie wants that—like he said, he’s straight.

Summary
There was something…tense…as he continued reading. Freddie followed Tuck into the back of the ambulance, holding tight to his hand, tears streaming down his face telling Tuck “don’t ever do that again, okay?”
That was when the atmosphere started to shift, and Eddie started to realize he wasn’t just reading a story about a house fire.
It was almost…romantic?
Or: After getting roped into watching the newest season of Hotshots with Christopher, Eddie falls down an internet rabbit hole about the show, where he discovers the wonderful world of archiveofourown.org.

Summary
“Hey Eddie?” He hears Buck say from behind him, breaking Eddie out of his thoughts. He turns, and there, down on one knee in the middle of his dust caked attic, is Evan Buckley, with a ring.
“Yes. Yes absolutely.” Eddie gets out before he can even really think about all the logistics of what he is saying.
Buck’s face falters for a second, his questioning look from before turning to something more confused, before looking down at the ring. His face does something weird then, a look that Eddie can’t describe even after 7 years of knowing him.
“What?”
“Yes, I'll marry you.” Eddie says, nodding, a grin spreading on his face.

Or, Buck and Eddie get engaged. It's years later that Eddie finds out it was a surprise for both of them

Summary
"Eddie you can't be serious" Buck says his mouth dropping open with disbelief.
"Chris and I talked about it. If you are being put in witness protection so are we" Eddie tells him eyes blazing with determination.
"But guys you would be completely uprooting your life. Chris you would have to switch schools. Eddie you and I would need to work new jobs. You would both be miserable" Buck reminds them.
Chris comes around the table to hug him. "We would be far sadder with you gone. Me and Dad talked about it. We choose you" Chris says simply.
"Always" Eddie finishes softly meeting Buck's teary blue eyes.
Buck raises his other arm silently and Eddie walks into them. For that infinite moment he holds the Diaz boys close.
Then the phone rings.

Summary
Buck had always been a tactile guy — handsy, affectionate, maybe a little too comfortable in Eddie’s space. But lately, something’s shifted. It starts with a tight tank top, a pair of fitted pants, and the dangerous curve of Eddie’s waist.
Buck tries to play it cool. He fails spectacularly.
Between waist-grabbing, lingering touches, and a growing obsession he can’t explain, Buck’s losing the ability to act normal around his best friend — and Eddie’s soft whimpers aren’t helping.

Summary
It was a truth universally acknowledged—at least within the firehouse—that Buck was in love with Eddie.
Well, maybe that meant it wasn't exactly universally acknowledged. But everyone at the one-eighteen knew, and that was close enough.
Okay, that also wasn't quite true.

“I’m not in love with him,” Buck said, then drained his glass of wine and reached for an immediate refill. “I don’t know him, and he’s a parent to one of my students.”
“A little crush never hurt anyone,” Maddie said lightly.
“If it didn’t hurt, they wouldn’t call it a crush,” Buck replied.

Summary
Sometimes, Eddie feels so guilty that he throws up. He doesn’t mean to, but it’s like all the guilt and shame in his stomach overflows until he can’t contain it anymore, and it spills out of him.
When he spends time with Buck, the guilt is there too.
It’s there when he avoids his touch, while he pretends not to see the hurt expression in Buck’s face. It’s there when he tells him that, really, he’s fine. It’s there when he asks Buck to play basketball or watch some football with him instead of letting himself just listen to him ramble for hours and hours.
It goes to sleep with him and wakes him up in the morning. It creeps itself into every corner of his body, and eventually settles under his skin like a second layer.
Or; AU where Buck and Eddie meet in middle school and quickly become best friends. But as they grow up alongside each other, their dynamic evolves more and more into something Eddie is not quite ready to face.

“I have a date!” Buck announces the next afternoon. “It worked!” Being Buck, he does it at top volume at the table at the firehouse.
Hen looks suspicious. “What worked?”
“Eddie’s helping me fix my dating profile so it sends the message that I’m looking for a relationship,” Buck says.
Hen and Chimney both give Eddie what he assumes is supposed to be a very significant look.
