"It’s Dr. Wells.
The Dr. Wells Bobby had sent Buck to, over a year and a half ago.
The same one he couldn’t quite admit had taken advantage of him, had made him feel numb whenever he tried sharing his feelings, who made it impossible to open up to any other therapist—
She was there and she had a baby. A baby who couldn’t be more than ten months old. A baby with his blonde hair and bright blue eyes, not her dark hair and dark eyes."
or
Dr. Wells had a baby & never told Buck.

Summary
“Hi, I’m Eddie Diaz, Jee-Yun’s Uncle.”
“Mr. Diaz, lovely to put a face to the name.” She shakes his hand quickly. “ She talks about you and your husband all the time, and so does Buck whenever he helps out.”
And Eddie should correct her. He really should. He and Buck are decidedly not married, they’re not even dating. Sure, Eddie’s though about it, of course he has. They’ve been best friends for years, his son loves him, and they’ve been sleeping in the same bed since he and Christopher got back from El Paso. But Eddie’s straight, and Buck isn’t into him like that.
He’s going to correct her. Definitely. He’s going to look at her and say–
“Yep, that’s me.”
Oh.
That’s not…
Or: Eddie chaperones Jee-Yun's school field trip, Buck gets jealous, and things spiral from there

Buck and Eddie are secretly married and Eddie is deployed in the military as Buck starts at the 118. Buck just decides to keep everything to himself, and that ends up backfiring for him when they get a call from Chris' school.

Summary
Maybe that’s why he doesn’t understand what he’s feeling at first. Jealousy isn’t an emotion he’s used to having. And being jealous over Buck just doesn’t make sense. Buck isn’t his boyfriend. Eddie isn’t gay.

Or, Buck is seeing Tommy again when Eddie moves back to LA. Eddie handles it about as well as you'd expect.

Bucks not out as transgender to a single soul, that doesn’t exactly make his job easy, though. He works in close quarters with his coworkers, and it becomes even harder as his coworkers turn into family, especially as one grump melds into his life, like he was always there.

By the look in your eye
I can tell that you're no longer sleeping

Don't put it all on meor
Eddie moves back from Texas and in with Buck. Maddie convinces him to pick up some shifts in dispatch to get some space and perspective on the changes in his life. A gay awakening ensues, just in time for a disaster that could risk everything. Angst. Angst angst angst. I promise you a happy ending and some fun chat scenes along the way, but it comes at a price and the price is trauma.
This fic starts up shortly after where Season 8 ended, timeline wise. Assume canon compliance through that point, though some things will be glossed over (looking at you, Thomas Kinard). Title is from the song by Noah Cyrus and The Fleet Foxes.

Summary
“Why were you late?,” Eddie asks suddenly.
Buck looks quickly to his side, clicking his seatbelt into place. Eddie is suspicious. “Traffic.”
Chris snorts, “does traffic have a name?”
Buck turns his face to the backseat in disbelief. He turns red without meaning to, and he can see Eddie’s eyes narrowing.
“What do you mean?”
“Buck! I’m not a kid. I know what a hickey looks like,” and there’s a very judgmental finger pointed to his neck.

Or, the fic after Buck and Tommy argue in the kitchen on 8x11. Buck decides to move on from Eddie (and Tommy) very maturely. (He acts insane.) -

Summary
"What happened?"
"She vanished after I told her I'm bi."
"She WHAT?" Eddie made sure he didn't mishear him.
"Yeah, I guess. She asked me why my last relationship didn't last, and I told her the truth. After that, she insisted this wouldn't work and left. I'm kinda getting good at being dumped. And funnily enough, both times were me being bisexual a reason why." Buck smiled and joked, but it was obvious that what had happened had hurt him.
> Or: Eddie comforts Buck after a failed date and they finally face what's between them.

Summary
The nerves that he was feeling before, about being too twitchy and too difficult to work on or with, are replaced with a different type of anxiety. He’d scoured and scoured the internet for months looking for ideas and inspiration after he’d made his decision and in the end, he’d had to roughly sketch something in the hopes of translating the image he saw in his head into something someone else would understand.

Summary
Realizing one night that he's in love with Eddie, Buck decides to call in to a radio station and confess his feelings. Surely, no one listens to the radio anymore, and certainly not to a sappy-love song radio station either. But of course, there is one person who hears his confession on the radio… someone he never expected.
Or, Chris learns that Buck is in love with his dad, and decides that chaos is the best way to deal with it.

Summary
It has been a year since Bobby’s death, and Buck has never been the same. Grief eats at him in quiet ways the rest of the 118 can’t quite reach, so when he announces he’s taking a break and heading abroad, everyone tells themselves he deserves the space. A week later, he disappears. Weeks turn into months, and the people he left behind are forced to believe the unthinkable—that Buck walked away for good. Until the headlines change, and the word “presumed dead” settles over them like ash.
What none of them know is that Buck’s story didn’t end there. His grief, his secrets, and the dangerous truth he’s been carrying all lead back to a past no one at the 118 ever imagined. And when the pieces finally surface, the loss they thought they understood becomes something else entirely.
How will the 118 deal with losing people they love, only to find out later that it was all a lie?
OR
Buck disappeared, and the truth might destroy what’s left of the family they built.

Fluffy little day at the zoo with a side of awkwardness.
This is how I imagine things could have been if Shannon had stayed gone longer and showed up after Buck had already settled into his solid place in Chris's life.
They could have done so much other than kill her off.
Chris also isn't exactly excited to have her back.

Summary
If Buck thought the aftermath of the lawsuit was bad, it had nothing – absolutely nothing – on the Winchesters barreling into his life, finding out the apocalypse was imminent, that his own death was a seal, and a demon hitting on him.
He really should have realized that when an angel shows up to stop you from throwing yourself off a bridge, that it isn’t always a good thing.
----
After the lawsuit, Buck is back at work, hoping to reconcile. Only...it doesn't go as planned. His family hates him and after a lifetime of rejection it's one hit too many. Buck plans his goodbye…only a certain angel stops him, 'borrows' him, hands him the Winchester-patented starter's guide to hunting manual, and gives him purpose again. Too bad that angel was so busy saving Buck, they forgot about the goodbye letters left in the loft.
---
Buck rubbed at the bridge of his nose tiredly. "I'm pretty sure this is kidnapping."Dean scoffed. Sam shot him a look "Think of it as adult babysitting."
Gabriel waggled a bottle of top shelf bourbon from his perch on the TV stand. "With booze!"
Right. Buck eyed his new...friend, warily. "Okay, kidnapping adjacent."

Summary
Eddie found himself in a modest home that stretched his finances to the limit, but it was a necessary step for him and his son. He applied to the 118, a renowned firefighting station known for its excellence. Although Eddie was confident in his qualifications, a lingering doubt clouded his optimism. The firefighting community was one he admired deeply, and the thought of joining such a respected team filled him with both excitement and trepidation.
OR
Eddie is trans and estranged from most of his family. He builds a new life in LA with his son and finds purpose at the 118. As more of the team learns the truth, guilt eats at him—especially knowing Buck has feelings for him, and Eddie still hasn’t told him.
When Buck finally learns the truth, it doesn’t change how he sees Eddie—in fact, it only deepens his admiration and love. Buck steps in seamlessly with Christopher, and for a time, the three of them carve out a life filled with hope. But as the dust settles, cracks begin to form.
