Summary
Eddie found himself in a modest home that stretched his finances to the limit, but it was a necessary step for him and his son. He applied to the 118, a renowned firefighting station known for its excellence. Although Eddie was confident in his qualifications, a lingering doubt clouded his optimism. The firefighting community was one he admired deeply, and the thought of joining such a respected team filled him with both excitement and trepidation.
OR
Eddie is trans and estranged from most of his family. He builds a new life in LA with his son and finds purpose at the 118. As more of the team learns the truth, guilt eats at him—especially knowing Buck has feelings for him, and Eddie still hasn’t told him.
When Buck finally learns the truth, it doesn’t change how he sees Eddie—in fact, it only deepens his admiration and love. Their relationship begins with quiet certainty, a sense of finally finding home in each other. Buck steps in seamlessly with Christopher, and for a time, the three of them carve out a life filled with hope. But as the dust settles, cracks begin to form.

Summary
Eddie is hit with a flash of hope as he studies the boy and the way he’s holding on to the woman, his converse familiar. Maybe he’s okay, miraculously delivered right to him, safe and in one piece. If it’s Chris, he thinks, I will never miss Sunday mass again. “Christopher?” Eddie says, moving towards the woman and the boy. Maybe he’s crazy, in his grief. Maybe he needs just one more moment of hope before he can accept his son is gone. Maybe it's really him.
The boy lifts his head. And it isn’t Chris.
~~~
Chris and Buck get separated during the Tsunami. Buck makes it to the VA that night. Christopher doesn't.
Summary
When he finally came back almost eight months after the ladder truck bombing, Buck hadn't expected a warm welcome from his teammates. But as their resentment towards his choice of suing the LAFD never wavers, he finds himself falling into a spiral of depression that could lead to severe consequences.
The Earth never stops spinning on its axis, and just as the sun rises and sets every day and the moon reflects its light, the universe never stops forcing Buck to deal with new and old traumas.
A visit from someone from Buck's past fundamentally changes the 118's views about their teammate, as old wounds are poked and left exposed, and everyone is forced to learn how to navigate their resentments and guilt.
Summary
Buck was impulsive. It wasn’t necessarily his fault, after all, he was born for spare parts. Spare, defective parts. He had to make it up to the world somehow for being born, and for not being able to save his brother, Daniel. Firefighting, saving lives, seemed like the only way he could redeem himself; the only way to make himself worthy of love and life.
It wasn’t until one day when he changed up his routine. He woke up, washed himself and brushed his teeth, opened the fridge and grimaced in disgust, promptly closed it, and drove to work. The moment he saw the food sitting in the metal box, the hunger disappeared. And somehow, he felt just a bit better about himself.
For once, Buck had control over something in his life. Sure, his job was unpredictable-antagonising at times. And maybe it took a mental toll on him every so often. But one thing Buck knew was that he could control the way he looked and how he performed on duty. Then, maybe, he’d be able to save everyone and redeem himself too.
(OR: Buck has an eating disorder, unbeknownst to the rest of the 911, until a cause for concern is evident)
Summary
“You know I’d do anything for you. I mean, I stole two helicopters and went to a funeral for a man who was already dead. Laying next to you is an easy ask.”
He couldn’t help the smile that pulled at his lips, teeth shining through as Tommy chuckled. “There it is.”
His cheeks heated at the gotcha, letting his smile grow just a bit more before turning so the two were face to face.“Thank you for letting me come here. For not kicking me to the curb.”
“I don’t think it's a shock to anyone that I still care about you, Evan. You will always have a place here, whenever you need it.”
“Yeah?” He spoke in awe, eyes fluttering against the sting behind his eyes as he saw the sincerity in Tommy’s face.
“Yeah. There's nowhere else I would rather you be than here with me.”
Eddie is moving back home, what does that mean for Buck? Well, he finds out rather quickly.
Summary
"Bobby, I swear to God. Just tell me what's going on," Eddie blurted out harshly.
The 118's captain sighed on the other end of the line. "Buck got into an accident during shift this morning."
Eddie's breath caught in his throat. He thought he'd kind of predicted something like this, but nothing could've prepared him for hearing these words out loud.
OR, another story in which Buck confesses his love to Eddie during a near death experience, but in a voicemail, while Eddie and Chris are still in El Paso.
Summary
Eddie hasn’t heard anything from Chimney, or Maddie, or Buck, for that matter, since he left the firehouse; the last one seems somewhat irrelevant, seeing as the last they spoke Eddie essentially told him to fuck off in the middle of a supermarket, but the chill down Eddie’s spine echoes the disturbance in Carla’s voice. And if his gut is right, if the panic creeping like sweat across his skin is warranted, then something very, very wrong has happened. Or the one where Buck loses his life right in the middle of the lawsuit, and Eddie regrets all the last words he spoke.
Summary
Post Lawsuit. Buck felt replaceable. Even at his parents' house he felt like he didn't belong. So, he left and continued to leave over and over again from various places. Until he found a home in LA. It wasn't the typical home, it wasn't tied to blood, but it was still home. LA didn't make it home, the people he called his crew became his home. That was before he destroyed it.
