Summary
He examined himself in the mirror, seeing how the fabric pulled and stretched at every movement. He wanted more, it felt so natural to see himself like this, as if they handmade it just for him, it certainly felt like it.
Just then, maybe Eddie was too entranced to notice, but the key entered through the lock.
“Hey Eddie, trip went a lot faster than what i thought, only an hour and thirty! I’ll need some help…” he trailed off, clearly shocked.

Summary
Bucks not out as transgender to a single soul, that doesn’t exactly make his job easy, though. He works in close quarters with his coworkers, and it becomes even harder as his coworkers turn into family, especially as one grump melds into his life, like he was always there.

“Mr. Diaz?”
“Yes, yeah, I’m here. Is Buck okay? Where are you calling from? Why didn’t he call me?”
“Mr. Buckley is stable. He’s undergoing minor surgery at Centinela Hospital Medical Center in Inglewood at the moment, and will likely be discharged later this evening or tomorrow morning, without any complications. As his emergency contact, will you be able to come to the hospital?”

Summary
Between viewings, Buck finds himself lingering in the quiet moments, the spaces between rushing from one open house to another. Sitting in the Jeep, engine idling, he watches Eddie frowning at the radio as he struggles to connect to the aux, catching Chris’s reflection as he fills Buck and Eddie in on the ever-changing social dynamics of his DnD group. His chest tightens with the thought about what he’s leaving behind.
He thinks of mornings in the South Bedford house, Eddie making coffee in his kitchen with the old, outdated machine he still insists on using despite its tendency to burn the grounds, Chris half-asleep at the table as he blearily spoons cereal into his mouth, glasses askew and hair mussed, and Buck feeling like he belongs. Like he’s stitched into the fabric of their lives.
or
Eddie sabotages apartment viewings, Buck becomes a dad, and Chris is a teenager.

Summary
Eddie loves Buck. Buck loves Eddie. That part’s easy. What’s not easy is the conversation they’ve been avoiding, about labels, boundaries, and everythig in-between. Buck’s not fazed. He just wants to hold Eddie, kiss him, and build something real. No labels.

Summary
“Has he always been like this?” Chimney’s voice is exasperated, strained as he’s forced to bend forward under the weight of Buck leaning on his back like a bicycle kickstand. It’s clear that he’s forcing Chim to support the bulk of his weight, grinning merrily. Bobby watches from the stove with a look of fatherly amusement as Hen sits at the bar with a mug of coffee, attempting to ignore them.
“Yes,” Eddie says instantaneously, shooting for annoyed but landing somewhere far closer to fond. He remembers the overly-confident way that Buck had carried himself, how he’d been stupid and headstrong, how Eddie had tried valiantly to hate him for weeks until he just couldn’t do it anymore. “Pretty much since the day I met him.”
“And you had a gun in your hand and somehow still didn’t kill him?”
“Every day was a struggle.”

“I need your help,” Eddie had said, frantic and begging, eyes huge and desperate.
“Anything, Eddie,” Buck had said, and meant it, heart in his throat, a hundred horrible scenarios flashing though his mind.
“I need you to chaperone Chris’s field trip with me and save me from the PTA moms.”
“Uh...come again?”

Summary
Buck and Eddie strode over, jaws in hand and smiles on faces to extract the man from the car.
They had been discussing a recent date of Christopher’s, Buck joking about how the boy had gotten his game from anyone but his father.
Of course, Eddie had taken mock offense and opted to playfully shove Buck with a light chuckle. They split the door open, the grumbling man glaring at them the whole way.
“Yeah, he gets that from you,” Eddie confirmed, adoration thick in his tone and a light blush tinging his cheeks.
Buck held Eddie’s gaze for a long second, a giddy smile adorning his face, when the man inside the car mumbled something under his breath that Buck wished he could forget.
---
Or, when Buck and Eddie are called some not so nice names during a call, Buck agrees to a night out with his favorite gays, but what he finds at the club turns his world upside down and then right side up again, stronger than ever.

Summary
Eddie stole the radio out of his friend’s hand. *We are stopping at the rest stop in 5 miles for Bobby’s chicken sandwiches. I’m pretty sure they have a nice picnic area*
“You didn’t have to do that,” Buck said.
“Why wouldn’t I?” Eddie asked. “You already made the food. I don’t want it rotting in my trunk.”
Buck laughed, “Yeah, that would smell. But we could have thrown it out. I don’t want to force people to do things just because I want to.”
Eddie started pointedly at the clipboard sitting on the dashboard in front of him.
“That’s different!” Buck said defensively. “The clipboard is to make sure we all make it to the midwest in one piece. The roads can be treacherous.”
“We’re on the interstate, Buck,” Chris jumped in, “not offroading through the Misty Mountains.”
10 days. 5 cars. 1200 miles between the beaches of LA and the point where the Mississippi snakes through St. Paul Minnesota. The extended 118 family take a roadtrip to visit Bobby’s grave and hopefully find a way to heal along the way

Summary
Buck had always had an obsession with soul marks.
Most people were born with at least one soul mark, the love of a parent strong enough to appear on their newborn's skin almost instantly. Throughout someone’s life, their skin would be decorated with the marks of those they loved deeply enough that it intertwined with their soul, whether that be platonic or romantic.
The endless void inside of Buck that yearned for belonging clung to the way the marks served as permanent proof of someone's love.

a partial rewrite of 9-1-1 that's written (mostly) through buck's eyes, in an au where deep love for another marks skin. -

Summary
That’s his problem. Buck always manages to make the calls personal, even if they are so far behind his realm of reality. He always makes them about himself, he had been told this way too many times already. And he’s trying to change, he really is. But then there are moments like these in which a little girl needs saving and Buck blurs the line between what’s his job and his own need to be there for everyone he meets. His need to fix everything. So he stays there, just for that first surgery he keeps reminding himself, just to make sure she makes it out of the ER. Just to make sure Hen is right and she is in good hands. And a few hours later, when she makes it out and the doctor’s look around the waiting room for Cassie’s parents without all the context Buck already has, he stands up. On instinct. Barely even a lie. He couldn’t count it as one when he hadn’t spoken at all. He just stands up. He stands up and he follows the doctor to the ICU.
In which Buck worries about the little girl he just saved from a fire, and he gives her a home in his arms.

Summary
“It'll work out,” Eddie says softly, and Buck leans over to rest his head on Eddie's shoulder. “You two have something real, y'know? It's kind of annoying sometimes, and then other times I'd look at you guys and just think about how bad I wanted that. Something easy where you just fit. The kind of thing where you reach out and trust they're there to grab your hand.”
--
Buck and Eddie get drunk together, Buck shows Eddie some videos, and Eddie is totally normal about it and definitely not fantasizing about being with Buck and Tommy. At all. And it definitely isn't going to turn into anything bigger at all.
