The pressure in Draco’s chest was rising, he couldn’t do this. This was wrong. They couldn’t be friends they never should’ve crossed that line. He was Draco Malfoy a doomed Death Eater and that, that was Harry Potter the hero. They were on opposite sides of a war. He had tasks to fulfil there was no time for friends nor emotions.
Harry took another step closer, still waiting for an answer from him.
“I never wanted you to care. We should’ve never...,” the blond trailed off. “This was a mistake from the start. And I certainly do not need you as a friend, Potter.”
“I can’t have you as a friend,” he added in a whisper hoping that Harry wouldn’t catch it.

Draco is a Death Eater with tasks to complete and certainly does not have time for a friend or feelings for that matter especially not when that someone turns out to be Potter.
Or the one where Harry has to be the saviour, but Malfoy is acting suspicious, and Harry just needs to know what he is up to.

After discovering the Horcrux in the golden boy's body, both Voldemort and Harry Potter decided to call a truce. Harry agreed unconditionally, he was tired of the tons of things that haunted him over the years, he just wanted a normal life. Voldemort was more determined, he would compromise if he had an heir. Obviously, he had no children, the only crazy woman who loved him was dead and there would definitely be no more crazy people who wanted to give birth to his children.So, someone had to be sacrificed. The large family and the daughter of the man who had killed the Dark Lord's lover were worthy of being the scapegoat. Ginny Weasley was forced to marry Voldemort. The Dark Lord was even more delighted when he discovered that his chosen one was the girlfriend of the boy who lived. And she readily accepted. Fine, then, truce.

this is a wlw drarry and a very slow burn (i'm talking years)the first few chapters have a few similar sections from the books, but they become less frequent the more that it diverges from canon.
harry, ron and hermione will have a rougher time due to being in slytherin, with the close proximity to malfoy and other blood supremacist ideas, as well as the whole of the school thinking harry is going to be a new dark lord.
