“I’m sorry. I really am.”
“It’s okay, baby,”
Buck smiles so widely that Eddie’s stomach flutters. It takes a minute before either of them realise what just happened.
Fuck.
This is what Eddie gets for constantly calling him baby in his mind.
Eddie suddenly starts fearing for his life. Sure, he loves Buck. But Buck doesn’t love him back, not like that. He’s not even into men. Fuck, fuck, fuck.
Buck stares at him in disbelief, mouth parted slightly. “Say…say that again,”Or,
When Buck injures Eddie, instead of going to the hospital with Tommy, Eddie asks Buck to take him and they actually talk, saving us from the travesty of BT.

Summary
"In a kind world," Eddie says quietly into his half-full beer, unable to meet their eyes. "In a kind world, Buck knows, and he loves me back. In the kindest world, though, we've never met."
He can't do this. Not now. Maybe not ever. This was stupid.
He needs to go.
"This was- this was stupid, I gotta... yeah," Eddie murmurs, unable to look up; he doesn't want to know how they react. Disgust? Sympathy? Regret? Curiosity?
He doesn't want any of it.
Eddie fishes his wallet out of his pocket, slaps down a twenty, and walks off.
Nobody says anything about the single teardrop next to the crumpled bill.

Summary
As it turned out, to Eddie’s complete downfall probably, Hen and Karen were not sensible people after a few glasses of wine. Instead, they were smart and clever and absolutely diabolical and Eddie? Eddie was shockingly willing to go along with anything their brilliant, twisted minds came up with.
And really, he only had himself to blame for dodging their questions and mumbling out the horrible half-truth that he wanted to date instead.
❤️🔥
When Eddie was first convinced to make a dating profile, he never expected to match with the person he wanted the most. Sort of.

Summary
The quiet, comfortable silence was broken by Christopher coming back into the kitchen, a confused frown on his face and what looked to be a slim stack of homework in his hands.
“Hey, dad? Can you help me with my science homework?” Christopher asked softly, coming up beside Buck and leaning into his side.
Eddie winced. “I’ll try, buddy, but you know science isn’t my forte,” Eddie replied, looking to Buck for help.
Christopher giggled. “I know, daddy. That’s why I asked dad!” He said, leaning more heavily against Buck and putting the papers he was holding down in front of him.
There was a sudden stillness in the room as Christopher’s words washed over Buck and Eddie, their meaning and implications sinking in.

Summary
Buck was pretty sure he’d been seeing things. He had to be. Because Doug, his sister’s husband, would never be in LA. Not after he’d convinced Maddie to cut ties with her family, including Buck. Which had been at least 12 years back. Buck had surprised her, sure, when he’d shown up to her ER just shy of his 19th birthday after having gotten into an accident. He’d seen his sister once in just over a decade and hadn’t talked to her since that day. But the man at the tree farm was … it was definitely Doug. It didn’t make sense.
OR
When Maddie runs from Doug, she doesn't approach Buck. She waits, wanting the divorce to be done, to be free, before reuniting with her baby brother. Doug, the dick that he is, takes the choice out of her hands. She thinks she can just be free and leave him? The only thing Maddie cares about in the world is her baby brother. Instead of just coming for her, he comes for Evan, using his Livestream torture to draw her out of hiding.

“So you think I don’t care about, you know, not smashing my nose into a door?”
He hissed as Eddie wiped at a particularly tender spot on said nose.
“Seemed like you cared more about telling us how cranes are made to build skyscrapers than not smashing your face in the door, but what do I know?”

Buck's clumsiness leads to an accidental confession.

“I-I’m Elle, I’m with the El Paso Fire Department.” She was nervous. In hindsight, of course, Buck could see why. “S-sorry, I’ve never had to…”
“It’s alright,” Buck assured. “What’s going on?”
“I work with… With Eddie Diaz, and he…” Her breath hitched. Buck’s stomach dropped.
“What happened?”
-
After Eddie moved to El Paso, Buck thought that was the worst thing that could possibly happen. Until two months later, he got a phone call that would change everything.

Or: 5 Times Eddie does something illegal to make Buck smile, and one time Buck joins him in an illegal activity
“Buck,” Eddie interrupts, placing his hand at the base of Buck’s neck, thumb digging gently into the hollow of his collarbone. “Where’s your spare?”
“My spare?” Buck asks dumbly, not quite getting the point of the question.
“Grab me your spare; I’ll just change the tire,” Eddie shrugs, then peels off his button-down, leaving him in a white wife beater. He moves with such ease, leaning down to inspect the booted tired, not a trace of worry on his face. On autopilot, Buck grabs the spare tire and his toolbox from the back of the car, stumbling a little as his eyes catch on the lines of Eddie’s biceps in the street lamp’s glow.
“Eddie, if we don’t leave in like ten minutes, we’re not going to make it,” Buck sighs, looking down at his friend crouched on the sidewalk.
Eddie stands up, stepping unbearably close to Buck, breath warm on Buck’s cheek. He reaches out and wraps his hand around the toolbox handle, their skin burning where their hands meet. “Good thing I only need five, Buckley,” Eddie smirks, giving Buck a wink as he pulls the toolbox from Bucks's suddenly loose grasp.

Summary
It had started off as a joke. Eddie had found some old motivational stickers digging through Chris’ old schoolwork he had saved from back when he was in elementary school. Most of the sticker sheets had been used up, but a few still had a couple “Nice Work!”, “Good Job!”, or “Radical!” stickers on them. He had slipped them in his pocket and forgotten about them until he was sitting down with Buck and Chris for dinner.
Buck had baked some chicken and tried out his own blend of herbs and spice that, quite honestly, blew Eddie away that Buck had just been seasoning by taste and feel. When Buck had turned to look at Eddie to ask how he liked it, instead of responding he peeled off a sticker that said “Out of This World!” and stuck it to Buck’s forehead.
---
Or, Eddie starts giving Buck motivational stickers every chance he can, Buck has a bit of a priase kink, and Eddie is just a supportive best bro who is most definitely heterosexual.

“I say no but— sometimes people aren't so nice about it and I end up giving them my number anyway. And then I block them when they text me but I'm so tired of it." Buck sighs, leaning against the back of the couch, "It's annoying, they're so pushy everytime and I just want to be left alone."
Then he opens his eyes to see Eddie staring right at him with a look he doesn't understand on his face as they stare at one another. Buck fights the urge to look away, Eddies looks are always so intense.
"Give them my number."
Or Buck keeps getting hit on, he gives them Eddies number so he can deal with it.

Summary
He’s pretty sure they’re crossing a million boundaries of friendship right here, locked together in Eddie’s bathroom as if the rest of the house isn’t empty — with the door closed, again, like the whole house isn’t empty. Eddie’s even shirtless, his T-shirt abandoned so he wouldn’t get hair and shaving cream on it, and it’s all Buck can do to stop his eyes from wandering — at least when Eddie’s looking.
Yet, when Eddie had casually brought up the fact that Chris is coming home, and that he’s ready to get rid of the mustache, Buck had pounced at the opportunity to follow him.
Or, there's a mustache, then there isn't, and they're in love and horny about it.

Summary
Eddie grimaces, ever so slightly. “Out of ten?”
“Like a five Eddie. Honestly I’m fine.”
Eddie looks at him pointedly, “Five is halfway to absolute agony Buck. I’m not happy with you being halfway to agony.”
Buck laughs, loud and kind of wonderful. “I am not halfway to agony Eds, it’s fine. You don’t need to worry about me.”
“I always worry about you.”
OR- Eddie insists on giving Buck a massage.

Summary
It’s fine. It’s a little pain. It barely flares up—frankly, he’s lucky he got off as easy as he did from having a firetruck pressing down its entire weight on his leg. He could’ve—no, should’ve lost his leg. He probably would’ve if they hadn’t gotten the truck lifted when they had.
So, it’s fine. It’s a small flare-up of pain.
Eddie, his unbelievably stubborn boyfriend, does not seem to agree.
“Sit, Buckley,” Eddie instructs, leaving very little room for argument. Unfortunately for Eddie, Buck would argue even if there were absolutely no room for it.
“Eddie, c’mon, I’m just finishing the dishes—”
Suddenly, Eddie is right behind him, large hand landing on the small of his back. Eddie’s shorter than Buck is, but his hands—Jesus Christ, his hands—are bigger, with long, thick fingers that drive Buck crazy with their efficiency and competence. Eddie’s other hand grabs Buck by the chin, tilting his head to the side and down, their eyes locking.
“Buck, that wasn’t a suggestion. Sit your ass down.”
OR
Buck tries ignoring a pain flare-up. Eddie does not let him.

Summary
Buck has never been a fan of pet names.
He's been called them before. More times than he can count, really, but it's always sounded the same. Cheap. Transactional. Someone wanting something from him.
Babe. Baby. Sweetheart. They all blurred together into the same empty noise, the same hollow affection that never lasted past that one night.
The first time Eddie calls him one, he thinks it must be an accident.
-----------
or: Buck learns that maybe pet names can come from a place of love rather than someone just wanting him for what he can give them in one night.
