    The room spun around him as Danny’s back slammed against the floor. He could hear shouting amidst the barrage of gunfire, but everything seemed muffled, muted, like he was underwater. He tried to take a deep breath to recenter himself – to stop the room from spinning before he fucking puked – but the action caused a tidal wave of pain to radiate outwards from his chest. Danny gasped at the sensation, something he could only compare to taking a sledgehammer to the sternum. He could barely breath and the room wouldn’t stop spinning and everything hurt.
