Summary
God, Eddie was glad he wasn't here. He was glad that if anyone had to be on this plane that it was him and not Buck, or Bobby, or Chim, or Hen. But especially not Buck. Buck, who in less than 24 hours was going to have to explain to Christopher what had happened. Who in less than an hour was going to be his son’s legal guardian and he wouldn't even know it. Buck, who was expecting a call soon.
or
When Eddie's plane goes down, he leaves Buck a voicemail telling him how he feels, after all, he was about to die. Only he didn't die. And when he returns, Buck doesn't say anything about the voicemail and Eddie assumes that mean Buck just isn't interested.

Summary
Buck thought he was just chaperoning a group of third graders on a routine firehouse tour; show the kids the engine, try on helmets, go home. Simple enough.
Then he meets Eddie Díaz. Calm, confident, and effortlessly present. Eddie has a way of making chaos seem manageable and making Buck suddenly aware of just how unprepared he is for him.

Summary
“Buck, I am not mad you slept with Tommy,” Eddie explains, and he watches Buck’s shocked face. “You were a single man, you did nothing wrong. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I am not happy that you slept with him, especially in this house...”
“Eddie, then if you're not mad about that, then why are you mad?” Buck asks, and Eddie can tell he is confused.
“I am mad because everyone else knew, and I found out from Ravi in a group chat,” Eddie says, flopping on the couch next to him. “It really hurts and feels like you are hiding something from me.”

When is it appropriate to hold a bachelor party?
When is it appropriate to ask your best friend who’s getting married first?
When is it appropriate to touch skin and let loose?
Buck is half drunk, Eddie is half naked (and also half drunk) and they won’t miss Chim’s bachelor party for the world, even without the groom, without friends or dates. They have each other, doesn’t that count?

Summary
On a weekend trip to Napa, Eddie falls asleep next to Buck and wakes up to a sexual revelation.
Buck’s face buries into Eddie’s neck, his nose nudging along Eddie’s freshly groomed hairline. “Mmm,” he hums. His hand finds its way under Eddie’s shirt, palm to bare skin. Eddie sucks in his stomach on instinct. Buck’s hand drags up Eddie’s chest. “Oh,” he sounds surprised, “you stopped shaving.”
Eddie makes a curious noise, still half-asleep and confused. Since when has he ever shaved his chest?
Buck plays absently with the hair. “It’s nice.” He pets Eddie’s furry chest, and Eddie stifles a laugh. It’s just so Buck. Sweet and exploring.
Then, his hand travels south. Buck shifts his hips forward.
Oh.
Oh, god.

Summary
“There were ever only three people that could see the full extent of Buck’s pain, even when he chose to hide it,” Hen continues softly, still looking directly at Eddie. “Now it’s down to two. And Maddie’s not here, Eddie. You are. Maybe you don’t want that responsibility. Maybe you feel guilty, but it’s not really about you. It’s about Buck. And you either can be there for him now, or you can’t. Which is it?”
Eddie looks like he’s been slapped, that dazed slack mask settles over his face. For a second Hen thinks she has gone too far, but before she can add anything else, Eddie shakes out of his stupor and briskly walks off in the direction of the bunk room, following Buck.
Hen lets out a relieved sigh.
Good man.

Summary
"Busying himself with the envelope in his hands as an excuse not to help, he studied the letter in his hand. It was a small envelope, small enough to fit a postcard, just like the ones he used to send Maddie.
In black ink, his full name was inscribed in a deliberate stroke; neat and smooth, not unhurried or hesitant. Turning the envelope over, Buck froze as his eyes snagged on the neat handwriting.
Just above the return address was a name that Buck certainly would not have expected to have seen written there in a million years.
James Abernanthy."

What if Eddie Diaz was not the first friend that Buck ever fell in love with? What if he had a history of falling for his 'straight best friend' but repressed the shit out of it?
With his old friend sending him letters, asking for his forgiveness and a second chance, Buck has to reconcile with what this means for him.
--> set around the start of 8A but the plot has been completely botched for creative writing purposes

Summary
Buck was two beers in when he saw something that didn’t seem right. It couldn’t be. Could it? He knew the breadth of shoulders anywhere. He recognized the outfit, too. It was one Tommy liked to wear when he put extra effort into a date. Buck had to be imagining things.
No, he was definitely seeing what he thought he saw. Tommy. Tommy was all over another man.
What he didn't expect was the steadfast support from Sal Deluca.
It starts with breaking and entering to get Buck's stand mixer, then it turned into lunches, and finally it became something they both could admit to. And Buck loved every minute of it.

Eddie turned to Taylor and raised a brow, curiosity flitting across his face before promptly vanishing. “So I’m a babysitter with a gun?”
Oh he’s got jokes. Great. Buck scoffed internally, his eyes narrowed at the two. He was twenty-eight and this was utterly ridiculous.

Summary
Eddie has to laugh at this point, because this isn't just about Tommy completely disregarding the general audience commentary on how harmful Gardner's books are. This is about him not caring about Buck's interests even a tiny bit.
Eddie would be lying if he said he's a hundred percent into everything Buck tells him, but he has never—not once—not listened to what he has to say.
Setting down his beer and turning towards Tommy, Eddie glares, his mouth twitching. "Doesn't take away the fact that he's still very much openly hating on women for most of them."
A beat of silence, "I take it you've read him, then."
There is a taunting tone in his voice that Eddie can't quite ignore. He forces himself to smile, breathes in through the nose, "Wasn't interested in reading him after Buck explained in painful detail why I shouldn't."
or 5 times Eddie corrects Tommy on something Buck related and the 1 time Tommy is actually right
