He thought it'd gotten better- that he was getting over it. But while the distance helped, it seems that as Aventurine returns- so do the myriad of complicated feelings he has for the other man. If hearing him was disturbing, the sight of him is beyond destructive.
Seeing him makes it impossible to convince himself that it was just mutual attraction- that their relationship was purely based on desire. How can he, when he looks at Aventurine and sees the brand he’d kissed so tenderly, the way he’d attempted to cover his curse with devotion? How can he, if that’s the same golden hair he’d often play with, the hands he’d once gripped so tightly? How can he hear his name in that beautiful voice of his- when he can only hear the memories of a sweet chant in his mind, Veritas, Veritas, Veritas.
