In the darkness of the night and the light of the campfire in the distance, James swallows nervously. He knows that trusting Yul is a big risk, but he also knows that it felt right in the moment. He liked Aiden, really he did- but something about Yul was just more… intriguing. It was as if there was something the other man wasn’t letting on about his own feelings. James wanted to crack open his shell, to see if he really was just a pretentious asshole, or if there was something more going on. There had to be- didn’t there?
James shakes his head. It doesn’t matter if Yul is handsome and interesting- the guy was clearly very straight. James just needed him for strategy, for the game. Soon, he would be winning his one million, and he would be long gone.
He tucks into bed thinking about what he can do with the million dollars.

Suffocating under the weight of grief and feeling disconnected and lost, Diluc's passive suicidal ideation starts to develop into something more concrete. He's struggling with his father's death, what happened to him during his time away, and the damage he's done to his relationship with Kaeya. Forgiving himself seems impossible, and it's getting harder and harder for him to get out of bed every morning.
Meanwhile, Kaeya just wants his brother back, Adelinde wants Diluc to stop running headfirst into danger, and Jean wants her childhood friend to smile again, and they - along with some new friends Diluc makes along the way - are determined to show Diluc how loved he truly is.
