Holger ist im Sommer immer sehr früh wach und nutzt das aus, um möglichst viel auf dem Hof zu erledigen, solange es noch kühl ist. Eigentlich genießt er es die Zeit alleine mit den Pferden zu verbringen, doch als er an diesem Morgen die Zäune kontrolliert, begegnet er unerwartet Freddy, der von einer Party kommt und eine Mitreitgelegenheit gut gebrauchen kann.

He basks in it now and yet wonders how he's gone on surviving this whole time being bereft of Merlin's overt exuberance of friendship
(Or the one that's a slight AU of the Jarl plot + Gwaine is in love with Merlin, as per usual really)

For a second, he thought he was dreaming. Just another nightmare. It was the only explanation. But the pain in his side told him otherwise. He could count on one hand the times he ever felt this level of fear, and the man he was facing was responsible for most of them.
He forced himself to breathe, feeling his heart thumping hard against his chest, and tightened his grip on the small blade to keep his hand from shaking.
Run. He could hear his sister’s voice yelling at him from the back of his mind. Run Gwaine!

What dark secrets are lurking in Gwaine's past? It's obvious there was more to it than what he told Merlin, and when someone from his nightmares comes knocking on his door, he has no choice but to face his past.My main focus for this story is Gwaine's past and the friendship between Gwaine, Arthur and Merlin. No slash, just friends. I just love their dynamic in the series and I hope I was able to capture it. Takes place in the 3 years between season 4 and 5.
