Steve hasn't been sleeping, and hallucinations are perfectly normal signs of sleep deprivation, right? And venting to them like they're your therapist is also, totally normal, right?
OR: Eddie Munson lives, but doesn't know how to reintroduce himself, so he stalks Steve. Steve thinks he's a hallucination due to sleep deprivation, and when Eddie finally gets up the nerve to go see Steve, Steve breaks down to him without realizing he's real. Featuring Eddie finding out about the Russians torturing Steve and promptly gathering up the gang to scold them about how they've treated their World Class Babysitter.
