“Here,” Dad says, gently grabbing your hand and directing your wand to tap a photo, “Most of them are stills, but for a couple of them, if you tap them, they'll play for a few seconds.”
He brings out a photo for you to practice on, and once you've gotten the hang of making it play, you take a closer look at the photo: a woman spins in a white dress as a much younger version of your father watches her teary-eyed.
“This is…”
“The day I married your mother,” Dad says fondly, “Not all of them are that exciting.”
“What's this one about?” you ask curiously, grabbing the first photo album you see. It's worn at the edges and some of the pages are yellowing, and scrawled across the spine is ‘Property of Dennis Creevey’. Dad’s smile turns a little sadder.
“That one…” he begins, then swallows, “That one is the year after the war.”

Summary
Q says that sex and love aren’t the same thing, but once upon a time James wouldn’t have believed him. To him, they were as intrinsically linked as the moon and the tides. When people said that he was an emotionless machine incapable of real love, he had agreed; it was obviously true, because machines didn’t feel love and how could he earnestly say that he loved anyone when the thought of sex made him want to die?
Q says that just because he agreed to the honeypot missions doesn’t mean he agreed to the rape. James is still getting used to calling it by that word.

Summary
After the Christmas argument about Harry's Firebolt, Hermione decides that she's not putting up with the boys' sulking anymore, and she's going to do something about it. What happens next is a testament to the strong bonds forged through people actually talking to each other, the desperation involved in keeping your best friend alive and in one piece, and the desire to build a better, safer world for him to live in, no matter what the objections from the adults.
In other words, the risk in manipulating things to create child-soldiers is that they will decide that you, too, are also something to protect themselves against.
Revised, Edited, and Rewritten: After a lot of feedback about how the writing got better as this fic went on, I've been taking a break, not just to have the burn-out breakdown from IRL work, but also to rewrite some of the earlier chapters (mostly 1-5) hoping to improve on what was already there, and add things I wish I'd thought of the first time.
Updated So Far: Chapters 1, 2, and 3 - an additional chapter inserted after Chapter 3 - and 4 (which is now Chapter 5, I guess)Series
