There was something exceedingly disorienting about waking up in a strange bed, the light came in through the curtains the wrong color, at the wrong angle, even for as late as Diluc was sure he'd slept. The blanket he was curled halfway around was the wrong texture. His fingers ran over it slightly, taking in the feel while he tried to remember what, exactly had happened the night before.

For the prompt "professionalism failure" for the 2023 round of novemetober.
"…don't you think, Alhaitham?"
He could have strangled the Amurta sage for calling attention to him so directly. Instead, he frowned slightly and made a non-committal noise as he tried to figure out what, exactly, he thought about the statement that had been made. The sage in question had made a few good points earlier, but Alhaitham wasn't certain that the most recent bit had been an extension of those.
Calling back to them might be risky if the conversation had moved too far beyond it. And yet…
A scoff from one of the others. "The Scribe believes himself too far above the rest of us mere mortals to bother offering an opinion."
"The scribe," Alhaitham corrected, "is meant to be a neutral presence, recording and not interfering."

Summary
Novemetober Day 18: Unfamiliar Surroundings.
I played a bit with this one because I leaned less into that the room is unfamiliar and more that Su is unfamiliar navigating without all of his senses intact. (though the room IS unfamiliar)
There's a whole AU that goes with this but the details aren't important. Just know Su is acclimating to having a body again after spending an untold amount of time in the Imaginary Space, spends most of the fic blind. Icing on the cake of awkwardness, Su becomes sick after they've turned in for the night. It works out.
