Summary
Something must have passed by on his face, though, because his phone is suddenly being turned around to face Buck, who quickly navigates to the filters. “I’ve got you.”
And something soft glows in his chest as he watches Buck determinedly get the pictures of them from earlier adjusted to perfection, his tongue peeking out between bites of his fries. It’s not a feeling that’s particularly new when it comes to Buck, but, for some reason, it’s amplified now, seeing his partner throw himself into something as small as photo filters for their family.
But pursuing that feeling will have to come later because Buck looks at him through his lashes, a mischievous smirk - one that Christopher must have learned from - on his face.
“Told you so. You’re bad at it.”
Eddie does not regret throwing a fry in his best friend’s face.

Later, Eddie would remember it in slow motion. The way he could feel everyone freeze in place. It was all broken by a single yell.
“It’s gonna fall!”
Eddie wasn’t sure who sent out the warning. As if shocked to life, everyone around him jumped to action, moving themselves and others out of the way.
In reality it was maybe thirty seconds in total. Eddie was still standing in place, frozen. He was unable to tear his gaze away from the building in front of him.

Summary
The purpose of a parasite is to feed off another, to extract parts of a living host to the parasite’s benefit. It is dependent on taking, selfishly depleting one’s life source in order for itself to live. Something to be squashed, removed, and cured from.
Guilt coats his skin, and Eddie fears he will never be clean no matter how much he scrapes himself away. He will always just be a parasite, useless and diseased with something nonhuman and evil.

The world snaps again, harsh and sudden, back to vivid and full. Eddie’s eyes remain closed, but the universe flickers around Buck like it can’t keep a steady signal, and Buck can’t breathe.
