“You Smoke’s runner?” The oldest man asked, staring him up and down. Hud hesitated, but stared back fiercely. He didn’t know how safe it wouldn’t be to tell them yes or no, but he supposed they also already knew. Or could at least guess.
“Yuh,” Hud replied, making his voice sound deeper than it was. He didn’t entertain them any more than that. He pushed the crates towards them, gesturing for them to take it from him. The man scanned him up and down again and one of the younger men chuckled and smirked at the other. Hud could feel his fight or flight instincts starting buzz.Something seemed off.
