It’s from an unknown number. Viktor raises his eyebrow, wondering which place in town this stranger found his number. It’s been a few months since someone new has reached out, not that that’s an issue. Viktor has a roster of regulars and typically meets at least one a week but, as the semester’s come to a close, he hasn’t scheduled any recently. The idea of something new intrigues him, and he has been wound a bit tight.. He drafts out his reply, then waits a few minutes to respond. He doesn’t want to give the impression that he’s at this person's beckoned call. He still has to finish this chapter anyway.

Piltover council has gone rogue. With the public fearing what may come of the growing tension with the Undercity, and the governing council afraid of a violent uprising, the decision to deport all Zaun-born citizens back to the Undercity is made. When the tension between two counterparts of a single Nation grows tighter due to the actions in place, and a certain “golden boy” of Piltover suddenly goes missing, the outcome simplifies itself to one solution: Starvation.
Genocide destroys Zaun from the roots up, with essential trading cut off, the border of Zaun barricaded, and Enforcers invading to confiscate anything and everything edible. Can this war be settled by the starved-out thugs of the Undercity, or will the Council of Topside continue their reign of dictatorship and ruin Zaun completely? Three years ago, Jayce’s life nearly ended in a car crash that shattered his left leg. He spent almost a year in a wheelchair, through sheer determination and grueling physical therapy he managed to get back on his feet.
Two years after the accident, he and Viktor left Piltover behind. They settled in a quiet cottage near a stream on the edges of Zaun, where life slowed to something gentler. Jayce found work as a teacher, while Viktor devoted himself to reshaping Hextech into something that could uplift Zaun.
It was there, a year into this new life, that Amaranthine appeared. A wild-haired girl of seven with bright eyes and a broken doll, she marched up to Jayce and demanded he fix it. She returned the next day, and the day after, until she never left.
Months later, Viktor found Naph. He was nine and half-starved, cornered in an alley by older boys. Viktor scared them off, gave the child food, unknown to him Naph trailed him all the way home. The boy lingered outside for an hour before they finally realized and let him in.
For the past year, it has been the four of them.
But seven weeks ago, Jayce began to feel ill. And now, something impossible is beginning to take shape. -
