“Mal'akh?” Mary asks, tone tinged with hesitation. Aziraphale hums from his place on the ground, fine dust clinging to the hem of his garments.
Before him, Mary stands rigid, her fists tucked at her sides as though she is presenting her case before some court unseen. There’s a palpable weight to her posture, a quiet insistence that her words be heard — not by a lone angel, no — but by the Divine.
“They’ve told me that the mountains will tremble at the moving of his tongue… that the knees of the mightiest kings will bow.”
A brittle laugh bursts from her lips, sharp and unbidden, hanging heavily in the still night air. She pulls deftly at her shawl, the rigidity of her movements betraying her growing turmoil. Aziraphale can only look on as she shifts her weight, bare feet seeking purchase in the richness of the earth as she sways subconsciously, the tightness around her eyes betraying how the movement pulls at her still-tender hips.
“They speak of miraculous things.”
or, The night of Jesus’ birth, Mary has some questions for the angel Aziraphale. In a humble stable in Bethlehem, he struggles with the implications of the Ineffable Plan.

I share a smirk with Tara as our kids start to drum their hands against the floor and our eyes flicker towards our colleagues, raising our eyebrows as we see each other linger on certain teachers. Tara stifles a giggle with her cardigan sleeve as I turn her attention to Mr Greene.
“Mr Nelson’s class!”
It feels like I’ve been dunked in ice-cold water. What the fuck? I hear Tara’s giggles through the cheering of my class and whip my head around to face Mr Ajayi, only to see him beaming at me. Beaming! What a fucking prick.

Castiel chuckled softly. "We give it a name and find a spot for it to 'watch' over us. And according to the instructions, we shouldn't touch it or it will lose its magic." Castiel picked up the small booklet that came with the elf and flipped through the pages. "It says here that the elf moves to a different spot in the house every night, so we have to keep an eye out for it in the morning. And apparently, it's watching us all day long, so we have to be on our best behavior."
Dean raised an eyebrow, still not entirely convinced. "Sounds like a lot of work for a tiny doll," he remarked, glancing at the elf sitting on the kitchen counter.
Castiel shrugged. "Well, it's a small price to pay for a little extra magic during the holidays. Plus, it'll make Ben happy."
