Vergil's reflection bore the marks of his sleepless nights - skin even paler than usual against the light blue of his coat, shadows deepening beneath eyes that had taken on a fevered gleam. His composure remained in every perfectly-arranged strand of silver-white hair, in each measured step. There was something brittle in it now, like ice just before it splinters. Power was everything, yet here was weakness made visible in the mirror, mocking him. The ancient writings became an anchor, something tangible to focus on besides the echoes of thunder and rain, of Dante's voice calling out to him before he'd walked away.
In which Vergil's encounter with Dante after the pre-DMC3 manga led to the elder twin's increased nightmares and bouts of insomnia. Taking a seeming demonic sleeping remedy from Arkham, the elder twin finds himself caught between strange visions and faces of himself yet to pass. Quicker than one could blink, the pen was switched out for the Yamato, Vergil changing his position to that of a crouched ready stance in one fluid motion. His sharp gaze was immediately drawn to the demonic presence he could feel, spotting the form of a person not too far from him. They were crouched as well.
Two pairs of eyes of the same shade of blue met in the dim darkness. Recognition flared to life in both of them.
