Summary
When Harry Potter wins the Triwizard Tournament, he witnesses the rebirth of Lord Voldemort and faces the terrifying prospect of another wizarding war. On the returning Hogwarts Express, a duel with Draco Malfoy, furious at Harry for naming his father as a Death Eater, goes wrong and an unknown spell has unforeseen consequences. He didn’t even care when people called him names or when Malfoy tried to irritate him. His friends tried their best to help him, however, their efforts were to no avail. It seemed that there was nothing that could bring Harry out of his state.
Until one typical midnight in the Astronomy tower—where Harry could think and feel with no judgment from others—Harry found himself having his first-ever civil conversation with Draco Malfoy, which changes everything.

I am working on my final capstone project examining how the queer Harry Potter fandom uses fan works to reclaim the canon to create diverse and inclusive work in opposition to JKR's transphobic actions.
My survey questions how fans navigate being a current/former fan and how they can use fanfiction/fan works as activism.

After the war ends, Harry Potter has become virtually useless. Sure, he’s still ‘the boy who lived’ and all, but who cares about his survival when he’s nothing to fight for anymore? Harry isn’t comfortable in the wizard or Muggle world, so he stays at the one place he’s ever called home- Hogwarts. Unexpectedly, so does Draco Malfoy. All goes smoothly enough- which is to say tolerable- until Harry finds Draco attempting a Cruciatus curse upon himself. In a moment of desperation, Draco wishes for a world where he and Harry had never been through the things they did- and a nearby Djinn with a vendetta happens to take him up on the offer. However, instead of simply fixing their troubles, it transports them to a New York City where magic never existed and none of their worst memories ever occurred. The two must figure out how to get home and resolve this issue, despite the growing tension, dissolving hatred, and myriad other complications between them.
OR
Draco and Harry get transported to a magic-free world and have no one but one another to turn to. Angst, pining, and healing ensue.
