Summary
Lup climbs on top of him, her tiny frame frail in comparison to how big he is. She puts the pool cue on his throat and pushes down. He chokes and grabs at the stick to try and pull it off of him. She changes the way she’s sitting so that she can put her knees on either side of it, her whole body weight pushing against his throat.

It’s three on one. Magnus swings wildly as they surround him, taking hits and giving as good as he gets. Then, finally, he gets one of them back on the ground, and the other two come to help their friend as Magnus slams his head into the concrete. There’s blood pooling around them, the flickering street light reflecting off it.

Lup and Magnus both have anger issues. The Starblaster is a big ship, but not big enough for all that rage to be a secret.

Summary
Taako made two promises to his sister early on in this seemingly endless mission. Firstly, he isn’t allowed to intentionally cut a cycle short, no matter how much time is left, no matter how much he misses her. Secondly, if she’s gone, he has to take care of Barry.
He isn’t sure what his sister was thinking with the second one. ‘Taako’ and ‘take care of’ are not words that naturally go together for anyone other than Lup. He loves the entire crew, of course he does, but he would rather kill for them than comfort them.
This is the first cycle where Lup is dead and neither Taako nor Barry had gone with her.

“I understand why Lucretia did it. I respect it and I respect her.” He stares at the kitchen tiles. “I don’t hate her. I just can’t forgive her.”
