Summary
Cranes settle on the cliffs above them, white splotches against the sky's dark canvas, and the tree at Windrise towers in front of them. The knotted trunk stands thick and tall despite the years, mossy and strong no matter how many storms it has weathered. The canopy spreads so wide that, as they approach, it blots out the mountains behind it. In that ancient tree, several generations of beasts have lived and died, and at its roots, thousands of humans have gone to pray, weep, and love.
"That's the Symbol of Mondstadt's Hero," Durin says where he stands at Albedo's side, staring up at the tree with wide eyes. Hat Guy says nothing, but his silence speaks for itself. "I read about it in a book, and people say that Vennessa ascended to Celestia where it stands."

Kaeya likes to think the fine line between him and his brother is still holding on. He never knows exactly what it’s made of, some days it feels resilient, impossible to sever. Other days, even the sharpest hawk couldn’t trace it. It seems ever shifting, flickering in and out of focus, like it’s toying with him. But somehow, that’s more comforting than a clear thread. At least this way, he can pretend to save it from the funny tricks of light.

Kaeya buffs his nails against his chest, inspecting them. “I heard some interesting chatter regarding new movement, and thought I’d drop by and give a friendly warning to the Master of Dawn Winery since it’s in that area, but since I’ve been designated a nuisance…” He heaves an exaggerated sigh and frowns, letting his arm fall to his side. “I should really get out of your hair.” He doesn’t turn to leave just then, though, because he knows Diluc won’t tell him to wait.
