    Summary

"Percy was having a pretty good day until the god went supernova."
I always like the whole main character demolishing world order kind of story, so I figured I'd give it a try. Think Chaos story with far less Chaos and (hopefully) reasonable characters. Pretty much Percy makes the gods really mad (a lot of them aren't his friends anyway) so he becomes a fugitive with Annabeth as they have to hide away from the legions of gods and demigods out to kill them. This story kinda goes all over the place.

    Summary

This is not the first time that Percy Jackson has woken up in an unfamiliar place. Gotham is not a city Percy has ever heard of and the more he learns the more certain he is that he needs to return home as soon as possible. He doesn't care about whatever purpose there was for sending him there or why there seem to be more monsters in this city than he has ever seen before. But of course, the gods would never let anything happen easily for him.

    Summary

“I wouldn’t have told anyone.” The words were admitted quietly but there was a firmness to way she said it.

Percy didn’t doubt that now. How could he when they had gone through everything they had? Even though they were no longer dating, Percy knew Annabeth was his family. He also knew she absolutely would lie, steal, and kill in order to protect him. (He would do the same for her.)

“It wasn’t you.” Percy explained before going back to staring at Smelly Gabe’s statue. His expression didn’t convey pain; of course not. Smelly Gabe wouldn’t have felt pain from being petrified. He probably hadn’t even realized just what Mom had been holding because of the Mist.

Annabeth made a noise that sounded similar to a snort. “Then why did you never tell me?”

“We don’t talk about him.” Percy admitted as people around them continued to walk about the exhibits. Percy wasn’t like them. He wasn’t interested in the multiple art pieces. He was only interested interested in The Poker Player.

“But you wrote about him,” Annabeth pointed out. (She didn’t ask who we was.) Her voice was shaking. She rarely talked like that. “I found out about him from us working on the The Lightning Thief instead of-“

    Summary

Perhaps several centuries or millennia from now, she would compare a new demigod to the hero, Percy Jackson. Perhaps she would wonder if that demigod would carry the best or the worst of him. If he would become a hero of old. But then again...something about him felt different than those heroes. Percy Jackson was singular, incomparable, perhaps even eternal.

Estelle, quick to respond: “He’s alive. It’s just some of his case files were destroyed so starting from the beginning would be helpful.”

Philippe: Well, I hired your brother to investigate my sister’s disappearance.”

Estelle: “Did he give you any updates before his disappearance?”

    Summary

“I need you to go on a date with me.” Those were the first words Rachel said to her after Penelope accepted the phone call.

    “Most people say hi first.”

Penelope couldn’t see her but she knew Rachel was rolling her green eyes. Which, honestly, was fair. Penelope had never been good at saying hi or good morning or good whatever time in the day it was whenever she first ran into people.

“And most people don’t attack someone with a sword when they sneeze,” was Rachel’s immediate response. Rachel Dare was almost always had something to say. Her snarky nature had always been something Penelope had admired. “Your point?”

Penelope fought a smile. The blue sponge continued to float instead of falling to the bottom of the sink; Penelope made it float above the water because she didn’t feel like scrambling to find it among the dishes once she was finished with this call. “Touché.”

Rachel snorted. “Back to the point, can you be my date tomorrow?”

Tomorrow? This was late minute. Usually when Rachel made plans with Penelope it was weeks in advance.

“You’re the Oracle,” Penelope pointed out. “I’m pretty sure dating isn’t something Apollo is-“

“So,” Percy asked, “how are you feeling?”

She gave a smile. It wasn’t a genuine one. “I’m feeling better. How are you, Seaweed Brain?”

She was going to act like everything was normal. Of course she was. (If it was him, would he do the same?)

“You haven’t really been keeping in tou-“

Percy interrupted her. He purposely spoke softly. “Were you really sick?”

    Be honest. Just be honest.

When it came to people he loved, Percy was willing to forgive a lot.

(He had never told his mom about the judo-flip.)

Annabeth stared at him instead of immediately answering his accusation. He could see the gears in Annabeth’s mind turning. “I wasn’t sick but I was injured.”

Over the years, Percy had many adults who told him to breathe in and out to control his anger. It never worked. He wished it did. Annabeth had been wounded and Poseidon hadn’t even offered her ambrosia. Percy debated returning to the ocean after this and-

    “Did you take ambrosia?”

“There you are,” a familiar voice said. It was only then Percy knew it was Triton behind him.

“What do you want?” Percy asked and it was real fucking easy to hear how short his temper was.

A school of fish was swimming by in a short distance from the balcony. Percy eyed them instead of turning around to acknowledge the god. Percy couldn’t help but wonder if they could hear him despite the distance between them.

“Dinner is being held,” Triton told him like Percy didn’t already know that. It was like he thought Percy was some kid who couldn’t remember the hour that-

Triton spoke, pulling Percy from his thoughts, “Father noticed your absence and requested I find you.”

He didn’t sound that happy about that. Was it because the god felt insulted at being given the role of messenger or because he genuinely had been looking forward to the feast? Well. Maybe not looking for to it as much as recognizing how important it was.

“It’s not my kind of scene,” Percy told the god. Before Triton could respond he explained, “I’m not here to be shown off. I’m here to find your conch shell.”

    Summary

Over the years, Penelope had heard people describe attraction as having butterflies in their stomaches.

Penelope wanted nothing more than to slid her hand into Annabeth’s stomach and crush the butterflies she felt for David.

    It wasn’t possible though.

More importantly, Percy knew doing so would have hurt Annabeth. So, even if it was possible, she wouldn’t have done it.

There were times Penelope hurt Annabeth damn well knowing she was doing just that. This wasn’t worth it even though Penelope knew this wouldn’t end well.

There was something gauging about her gaze. It was as if Penelope was a battle Annabeth was trying to plan for. Other people would have shirked away from Annabeth staring at them like that. Penelope didn’t. It was as familiar as the weight of Annabeth’s calloused hand in her own.

“Is that what we do now?” Annabeth asked quietly. Penelope knew Annabeth wasn’t quiet because she was ashamed. She was quiet because she didn’t want David to overhear them. “Talk about boys instead of….”

It wasn’t until Annabeth trailed off that Penelope spoke. “He’s part of your life. Of course I’m going to want to talk about that.”

    Summary

“Why?” Penelope asked as she continued to stare at the god in her kitchen.

Triton was staring back at her. Unlike Penelope, he didn’t blink. It was a human appearance the god had taken on when he had appeared in her apartment. Despite that, he didn’t act like a human. His chest didn’t expand as he breathed in because he didn’t breath. He didn’t blink. He didn’t-

“The issue is delicate matter. If word got out-“

Penelope interrupted him. She didn’t raise her hand before speaking. She wasn’t going to ask if she could say something real quick. No, she just unrepentantly interrupted. (If he wanted manners from her then maybe he shouldn’t have abruptly shown up in her apartment.) “I know that,” she told him. “Zeus is the only god I’ve met that has ever wanted to let other people he’s lost his symbol of power.”

Hades hadn’t announced it. He had sent his Fu-

“….Other gods have lost their weapons of power,” Triton trailed off. His eyebrows drew together. It was the first human like gesture she had seen from him. Maybe it shouldn’t bother her so much. The god before her was their father’s heir. It made sense he didn’t inherently interact with mortals over his own subjects.

    “No.“

The word rang trough the throne room like a gunshot.

Hermes’ fingers, which had previously danced over the screen of his caduceus halted and he raised an eyebrow as he looked up at Poseidon.

The Lord of the Sea held his head high, regally, unrelenting. His eyes were as dark as the waters surrounding Charybdis and his glance bored into each and every one of them, while his hands rested on his trident.

    A silent threat.

It’s a Reading the book story.

Old, done a million times and completely self-indulgent.

If you like this kind of story you’re probably desperate enough to check every new one out, if you don’t, I know there is nothing at all I can say to convince you to read this one, and if you don’t know what a reaction fic is and simply start this one out of curiosity , I might be the one to drag you into this rabbit hole.

If that’s the case, I am deeply sorry, and good luck. It’s pretty hard to leave this trope behind once you’re into it.

“My story? What does that even mean?”

“Your story is your story of course, the quests you've been on and the ones you are yet to complete,” Ouroboros explained. Percy’s heart dropped to his stomach. “There are those that need to understand them. That need to take them in, and change to better them.”

Ouroboros looked at Percy with gut-wrenching sorrow. “I am about to be terribly cruel to you, Perseus Jackson, and it is precisely because you are the last person to deserve it that it must be done to you.”
