Luke was having a shitty year. Between being a college student with a job, a 2-year relationship on the brink of collapse, and a general sense of self-doubt and uncertainty in himself, it was fair to say he was not doing that great. He didn’t expect to find a light in the darkness with Javi. In fact, he was surprised the other man was so adamant on being his friend. Last thing Luke wanted was to burden his new companion with his problems, but it seemed Javi didn’t mind.
TLDR; Luke didn’t believe that his happiness relied on another person, but damn it Javi was doing a good job proving him wrong.
