Summary
Surviving in the wilderness really isn't all it's cracked up to be.
After being gone for a year, John Dory returns to the Troll Tree to find it completely empty. Save for one troll: His baby brother, Branch. Thinking the trolls and the rest of his family dead, he sets off once again to the Neverglade Trail, this time, with his baby brother in tow. Fueled by fear, guilt, and voices from the past he just can't seem to escape, he wonders if he made the right decision.
But he promised his brother he would never leave him again. So he wouldn't.
Besides, he was never known for his great decisions anyways.
(Based on the song "Great Decisions" by Judah & the Lion)

Or... I needed to write more John Dory and Branch ANGST, so here's my rewrite of canon, where John Dory goes back and raises Branch out in the wilderness, and other subsequent shenanigans. Let's see how this goes, shall we?

Branch started seeing ghosts not long after the disbanding of BroZone. With the unconditional support of his grandma, he was able to understand and nurture his unique ability, though at her urging, he kept it secret. But when his grandma died, Branch was left with nothing more than her ghost and the guilt of causing her death.
For years, Branch lived with his self-isolation. Believing his whole family is dead, he pushes on in a world shadowed by guilt and grief.
Up until a remark from his ghostly grandma sparks a dangerous hope within his heart. In all the years of believing his brothers to be truly gone, none had ever visited him, leading him to think they had moved on with their parents. But if there is the slightest chance that they could be alive out there — or lingering as ghosts out in the wide expanse of the world — Branch is willing to set off into the unknown and find them.
