Summary
Sam doesn't know what he's expecting to happen after Lilith's death. An overwhelming sense of satisfaction, maybe? The ability to look his brother in the eye and say "I did the right thing, I stopped a monster," and actually mean it?
Or maybe he doesn't expect anything. Maybe past the bravado and stubborn determination he doesn't actually want to come out the other end alive. Just wants a big showdown where he can make someone else feel as fucked up as he does.
Regardless, the absolute last thing he could have expected was for Lilith's death to be a bad thing. To be the straw that broke the camels back. But he's going to work with it, he's going to get the hell out of dodge and find a new normal.
Then again, can anything really be normal after you find yourself sharing a body with the devil?

Dean just hates it plain and simple. No matter what either says or does it always happens their always drawn back to each other; like elastic bands pulling taught. Deep down one believes that he isn’t worth it and he’s too damaged, the other secretly relishes the times their paths cross. The question is which one is which? All the while Cas; Sam and Gabriel sit and watch shaking their heads.

A/U to season 13. It was like watching a car wreck in slow motion. Dean’s eyes widened in horror as Mary took a step toward Lucifer and slammed a fist into his face, the knuckles glowing with those powerful sigils. Lucifer stumbled back, just a few steps closer to the ever closing rift, and Dean watched as Mary punched Lucifer again with her other fist. She punched him a third time and he was so close, one more good jab and he was going to fall in, but then he reached out to grab her and that was when Dean moved into action without another thought, ignoring Sam’s yell of “DEAN!”, shrugging off his sorry attempt to pull him back. This was mom, and she was NOT going to die (or worse) like Cas. He ran toward them, surprising them both as he tackled Lucifer into the rift, pushing them both onto the other side...shit.
Lucifer and Dean end up trapped in Apocalypse World with a crazy Michael bent on destroying everything. In order to survive and find a way back, they have to put aside their differences and work together. Easier said than done...

Dean is disgusted by Lucifer. The idea of being 'mated' to the devil is ridiculous, not to mention painfully ironic. His behavior toward Lucifer is nothing short of cruel and cold.
Until he finds a little black book on the table. It reads 'Regarding Archangels, For Dean Winchester' on the cover.
Well, it says it's for him. And besides, what's the harm a little book can do?
Or: the one fic nobody asked for where Castiel helps Dean get his head out of his ass and the hunter and archangel make up with lots of fluffy cuddles.

Author's Note: If you've read the title, you can guess what's up. This is NOT being abandoned, even if I leave it alone for a while. I'm going to try and actually write this with an outline and get a better idea of where I want to go with this. It may be re-written, if I feel like something needs to be changed for any reason. Sam and Dean Winchester are used to their father being gone; it's the hazards of having a hunter for a father. But even they are surprised when John leaves them with "Uncle" Bobby, planning to be gone for the whole year. He's never been on a hunt this long before, and Sam and Dean must learn to adapt to their new surroundings in Sioux Falls as they stumble across a broken family, murders, a secret drug ring, and a vicious ghost out for revenge.
