When Link's father is sent on a mission to recover the stolen Majora's Mask from the Yiga Clan, the power of Majora's hexes sends the troop running back to the Castle — and leaving Link behind. Master Tarind of the Yiga Clan wants to know what makes this boy special, why he was able resist Majora's influence. In answering this question, Link ends up in the crosshairs of three deities, a demon, a dragon, and two quarreling women. What started as a simple quest soon morphs into a Hyrule-spanning adventure and a race against time. If Link ever makes it back to Castle Town, he's never going to be the same boy who followed his father into the mountains.

Ravio has never gone ice skating before, and Link doesn’t bother to hide his groan at this revelation. “Now you’ve done it,” his grumbles are ignored by both parties in the room as Zelda surges out of her seat, eyes glinting in excitement.
“Would you like to learn?”
“That would be nice,” Ravio answers. “But only if Mister Hero comes.” The merchant’s voice reminds Link of honey and smoke; thick and sweet, familiar as the apple orchids recovering on the side of his house.
He looks away, trying to fight the blush off his face. His sister giggles, and he kicks her under the seat.

On the way to collect another fragment to rebuild Terrako, Zelda’s party is forced to take shelter from a blizzard. It is not a natural blizzard, they soon realize. The temperature drops sharply and they feel the heavy approach of something on the wind.
A few hours into the night, they see it: twin blue lights, winking in and out of the heavy snowfall. And they aren’t keese.

In comparison, it was like Farore took pity on the boy and gave him the Master Sword as a consolation prize. He would never be the Champions' equal, much less Revali's.
But after the unthinkable happens, Revali is left with no one else to rely on.

The other members of the Chain typically hated night watch. Sacrificed sleep, even if it meant keeping them safe. A criminally necessary action as Sky had once deemed it. Wild liked it, it meant he could sass and insult Oracle freely without interruption. The only thing holding him back from taking watch every night is the fact that Time does not accept the idea of not needing sleep after a hundred year nap. Neither does Oracle, but he’s much more fun about it.
