Pansy Parkinson prunes a posy of pink peonies, setting the freshly cut stalks into a vase beside the cash register. Smiling happily, she turns to the rest of her shop, inhaling deeply. The scent of flowers and various herbs fills her nose, causing her to hum to herself in delight.
She turns towards the sound of the bell above the door, which jingles like it’s Christmas. “I’m sorry, we’re closed today. We don’t open until tomorrow at…” Pansy trails off when she sees who is standing in the doorway.
