Zoey places the plastic cup on the ground, chopsticks set across the lid.
“It’s a little cheesy, but uh,” she huffs, “Rumi…”
“She’s the, uh,” Mira taps the lid of her own cup with her chopsticks, “The angel one, right? With the gak-gung?”
Zoey nods eagerly, looking a little surprised.
“She’s the goddess of love, but also a hunter and protector deity.” It comes out matter-of-factly.
Mira slurps and swallows.
“Hm. Greedy. I thought gods only embodied one thing.”
“Well, when people talk about her they usually only focus on the whole love factor - same with the other gods, to be honest - but she’s also a guardian who hunts down demons and keeps the city safe.”
“Whole lotta good she’s done,” Mira swallows the last of her noodles, setting her cup down next to Zoey’s, “How’s your eye, by the way?” She snarks.

The citizens of Rome had transformed the phrase into something used to express and romanticize the common experience of unrequited love. I heard Eros misses his shot on purpose, said one customer to another, a goblet of wine in hand. He wants mortals to experience his same suffering. At least, that’s what the myths said.
Ukyo Saionji– or Eros, never felt that longing for falling in love. He actually found it funny. Mortals were so caught up in their emotions that they projected their own longings onto him. There was no suffering in shooting his golden arrow and making others fall in love, it was just his job.
His target was Ryusui Nanami, who was to fall in love with a monster, and Eros’ job would be done. If only his target's beauty didn't challenge Aphrodite's-- then maybe Eros wouldn't have accidentally stabbed himself with his own arrow. Maybe he wouldn't have to worry about falling in love for the first time with the world's most handsome man.
