It was Ruth who was his fixation.
Elliot was not terribly sure when he had become so enamoured by the mage. He had acknowledged his existence for years, and had thought him a lazy and unkempt presence at Sir Riftan's side for much of that time. However, three years spent in the Lexos Mountains had greatly swayed his opinion of Ruth. He had seen how dedicated, hardworking and extremely capable the mage actually was. He had saved countless lives and played a pivotal role in their ultimate success. Not to mention that during their journey combing the mountains for the dragon, Elliot had also begun to believe he was the most beautiful sight in that perilous, barren place. With hair like starlight it was hard not to fantasize about the other man, just as he now did as he followed him through the castle courtyard.

Summary
The continued truce between the Church and the Mage Tower bring Kuahel Leon and Maxi back together to investigate a third form of magic - rumored to control the soul - hiding in the Southern Continent. Maxi and Kuahel will have to take on their hardest mission yet: posing as married nobility in Lakazim to prevent the Dark Mages' teachings from stirring war between the Orthodox and Reformed Church.
Kuahel/Maxi-centric, forced-promixity adventure: Kuahel/Maxi's relationship grows intimately but not romantically :) Meanwhile, Kuahel has a slight crisis of faith. Focus is on world-building and character growth with some spice thrown here and there :)
