Summary
“What am I looking at, Chim?” Buck asked, brows furrowed as he stared uncomprehendingly at the map in front of him.
Chim cleared his throat awkwardly. “It’s uh,” he cleared it again. “It’s a trip Bobby planned for the two of you. I found it in his office this morning when I was moving some boxes in. It was in one of the drawers, had a sticky note with your name on it and everything.”
Buck’s eyes widened, still processing the information in front of him. Chim leaned over him slightly, slipping a paper out of the opposite pocket.
“Looks like he’s been planning it for a while, if the dates on these printouts are anything to go by.”
“He… he joked about this back when I was a probie,” Buck whispered softly, only just loud enough for Chim to catch it. “I didn’t think he was serious.”

After Bobby dies, Chim stumbles across the plans for a road trip Bobby once intended to take with Buck. In the midst of dealing with their own grief, Buck and Eddie decide to honor Bobby's memory by going on the road trip- together. -

Summary
What if Buck finally realized after the humiliating blowout, on how Eddie said what was wrong, how he made everything about himself and how Eddie called him exhausting throughout the years they were friends (yes, past tense) and abandoned his plans to sublet Eddie’s place. He still needed a place to live and managed to find a run-down place in North Hollywood that needed TLC.
This is a story where Buck builds back his life one step at a time and heals himself.

Summary
“I don’t want this to be how this started,” Buck says. He grips the sink behind him and stays still. He can’t be the one to break the glass. He’s already full of grief and guilt and regret. There’s no room for more. No room for anything else, not even Eddie.
“This isn’t how this started,” Eddie says finally. He turns and looks at Buck. “We’ve both looked away so many times.”

Summary
Bobby slaps both gloved palms against the glass. “What are you saying, Buck?”
Buck doesn’t reply. He won’t meet Bobby’s eyes. He bows his head a little, reaching for the latch on his helmet.
“Buck!” Cold dread spills into the sockets of all of Bobby’s joints. “What are you doing!”
Buck fumbles to release the lock, but he gets it on the second try.
“Put your helmet back on! Kid!”

Embark with me on an angsty journey as we imagine a universe in which it was not Bobby who was infected with CCHF, but Buck. That means Buck was stuck inside with the team in 8x14 and 8x15 while Bobby was running around outside with Athena. And Buck didn't tell anyone he'd been exposed. Let’s assume everything else is the same. Oh, except no one’s dying this time because I said so.

Summary
“Look, I-” he hesitates, looking over at Tommy again uncaring about the very nosy audience they have in the back, “For what it’s worth, I wanted to apologise. A-about that morning, what happened after…” he lets the sentence fade, knowing Tommy of all people doesn’t need a reminder of the morning he’s referring to.
Tommy’s eyes widen, but he still doesn’t look his way. “Seriously? Now?” he asks incredulously, like he can’t believe what he’s hearing.
“Why not now?”
“We’re a hundred miles up in the air escorting a wanted bio-terrorist, trying to fool the Army and the FBI!”

Summary
“Maybe I should try to open the ceiling up to get us out of here.” Buck ignored Eddie’s soft plea, choosing to direct his attention to the ceiling panes before he did something stupid like actually kiss his best friend.
“Buck, we should really talk about—”
“I’ve gotten people out through the ceiling before. It has to work this time! I just have to figure out how to do it from the inside.”
“Avoiding this isn’t going to—”
“Eddie, give me a boost so I can maybe punch it out.”
Or; Buck and Eddie get stuck in an elevator and are forced to talk about their feelings. Buck is very normal about the situation.

Summary
Neither one of them had the words to touch on the other's grief. Eddie had lost a man who saved his life multiple times, who he went to for advice, and who always knew what would help him. Buck lost something a little bit more. Maybe not more but different. Bobby was his captain, the same as Eddie but he was more than just a mentor. With Bobby, Buck experienced what it was like to be loved by a father for the first time in his life. And now Bobby's gone. Both of them are grieving.
Or Eddie comes home for the funeral, Buck finally crashes out, then things get better.
"Last Alarm" Never heard of her.

Summary
“I would’ve fought for us!” Evan shouts in his face, fresh tears glistering in his eyes. “I mean, at my loft and the morning after the bar and– and at the funeral. I–” He lets out a small, broken sob. “I would’ve been there for you through everything! I would’ve been–”
“I thought you knew! I thought you knew!” Tommy interrupts him the moment he realises what Evan means, the moment he realises that apparently Evan didn’t know how much Tommy loved him, how much he still loves him. “From the moment we kissed in the hospital at your sister’s wedding, I thought you knew!”
“Then why? Why?!” Evan cuts him off, his voice loud and as shaky as his hands when he weakly hits them against Tommy’s chest. “Why did you throw it all away?! Why?!”
(or: a few months after Bobby's death, Buck finds out that early into their relationship, Tommy went to Bobby to get his blessing.)
