Stede Bonnet travels to Transilvania to meet Count Edward Teach. He has acquired a new house in England, and he has to sign a few more papers before the property is officially his. Stede’s stay was going to last a few days, but it looks like the Count needs more help than he thought and days turn into weeks, and weeks into months. The entire castle is a whole mystery for Stede. Edward himself is an enigma that he isn’t sure if he wants to discover.

Summary
He had been conflicted when he went to examine Ed’s body because Stede had begged him to search for signs of life. Roach may not have been an actual doctor, but he put his all into helping people in every way that he could. He took the health of his crew very seriously. But Blackbeard—The Kraken, he’d heard Jim mutter—was not Roach’s crew.
He had been the captain, far more responsible for the crew’s welfare than Roach. He had ordered Izzy and Ivan to maroon him with half of the others. Roach’s responsibility to care for him ended the moment the Revenge sailed away from that little quay.
But Stede asked, and he was Roach’s captain once again. So he checked for every sign of life he could. No breath. No pulse. Blackbeard’s forehead was cool to the touch, too cool. Roach checked every pulse point he knew. Nothing. Blackbeard wasn’t coming back from this one.
Or; What if Ed had really died for real instead of all that gravy basket nonsense.

I takes every ounce of willpower he has to follow that order. If Edward and Bonnet weren’t watching, looking so emotional, he probably wouldn’t have. Slowly, forcing his breathing to stay even he opens his mouth. Images of what he had just experienced flash behind his eyes, and the vulnerability of opening his mouth like this makes him want to scream.
Izzy doesn’t realize he’s shaking until Edward’s calloused hand takes his, like he’s some child afraid to see the doctor when he’s sick. It’s humiliating. He clings tightly to the offered hand nonetheless.

Summary
Once Roach got clean through the second bone, Izzy’s cries subsided. Roach realized that Fang was whispering gentle comforts to him, and wondered if this was the first time he’d spoken to Izzy that way. When he looked up and they locked eyes, Fang gave Roach a bashful smile, as if he was embarrassed of showing Izzy Hands such kindness.
Roach smiled back reassuringly. He wasn’t gonna judge. He’d tried to show Izzy kindness once before, when he’d gotten himself banished, and was disappointed at the result. Yet here he was doing it again. Roach knew that if Blackbeard had left Izzy to suffer like this, few on the ship would have been upset with him if Izzy had just died from this fever.
That didn’t sit well with Roach. Whatever crimes Izzy had committed against his captain, this would be a cruel way to go. He didn’t deserve this.
Or, an S2 speculative on making Fang/Izzy/Roach canon because the leaks and cute cast posts got me thinkin.

Summary
Izzy stands, swaying, at the galley door. He had come in secret, in the dead of night, but still he hesitates. After several agonized minutes of indecision in the silence filled only with his own ragged breathing, Izzy pushes his way in.
Roach sits there, as if expecting him. Of course he was, the way he watches everything for any sign of danger. The smoke from his cigarillo in the dim red lantern light makes him look like the myths of Blackbeard, head made of dark mist and eyes burning into Izzy’s soul.
“I thought you’d come,” Roach says.
Izzy all but collapses onto the nearest bench. “Let’s get this over with. I need to get back to work.”

Roach has had enough of flinching from Blackbeard’s shadow. He is having none of Izzy’s self-destructive loyalty. If Izzy Hands won’t accept medical care willingly, then it’s up to Roach to make him. Roach is taking matters into his own hands.

“Please,” Izzy rasps out. “Please, don’t tell Edward.”Roach sighs, and stares out the dark galley window. A plan starts to form in his head.
“Very well. But I also will not let you die on my watch.”
