My nephew used to ask when I was happy the most. He was maybe four or five - I'm not sure how my brother managed to grow such a philosopher - and for a while it was repetitive once he got sick of "What's you favourite colour?" And, "Why did your parents named you Todd?"
I told him it was my 13th birthday, or the day I finished high school, but he kept on asking.
Finally I said it was a few months in the autumn of 87', when I met one of my best friends.
He asked me then what's his name, probably sensing the truth in my words, and I answered simply, Neil Perry.or

Todd opens his battered-up copy of Midsummer night's dream and looks up at him.
“I’ve been reading whenever I missed you. I- I figured you’d love it if we remembered you at your best, doing what you love.”
He smiles and lets his hand slide towards Todd’s unoccupied one, lacing their fingers together and giving it a squeeze. Todd glances at him and offers a weak smile, redirecting his attention to the play in his hands.

Todd and Neil did not return to the mortal plane immediately after their demise, they lingered in some sort of liminal space, not quite able to reach one another, the feeling was akin to having something resting on the tips of your fingers; you can reach out as far as you wish but you will never be able to form a firm enough grip to grasp it. There was not much of anything the boys could do in this space but think, it was an unusual feeling, pondering their existence when unsure if you even have the capacity for existence. Their thoughts would eventually fade, the only permanent thing about their situation was its impermanence, nothing lingered for too long but themselves.

Neil and Todd find themselves in the Dead Boy Detective Agencies office, having to come to terms with their new not life. Will they join the English boys in their plight to help other ghosts? Or will they complete their unfinished business themselves and step into Death's arms. -
