Every wall Shadow- and if he’s being honest with himself, Sonic too -had built up over the years was knocked down with one swift motion. Devastating and catastrophic but freeing at the same time. Shadow couldn’t help himself when he buried his hands in Sonic’s quills and pulled him closer."

      Well, you look like you had a fun night,” Rouge teased between sips of coffee. It had been her idea to meet up at this cafe, and Shadow was already regretting showing up.

      He knew how he must look. Bags under his eyes, quills, fur, and clothes a mess, the visible discomfort from a headache on his face. He was a walking hangover, and he could only imagine how Sonic felt because he had been gone by the time Shadow woke up.

      “Spare me,” Shadow mumbled. Silently, he took a seat in the chair across from Rogue and started chugging the coffee she had ordered him.

      “So…” She mused, that awful mischievous glint in her eye. “Did you see Sonic?”

      Shadow slammed his forehead against the table. Even if it only made his head hurt worse, he was just hoping that it would allow him to forget.
