It’s been 6 months since Aziraphale has left for Heaven, 6 long months in which Crowley has been on a path of self destruction. After having lost his stars and the love of god, they now took away his heart with the only person which made life after the fall worth something.
But Crowley in one of his darkest hours realised that there was still something he could offer to his angel before his end.
Crowley goes to Heaven having made his decision. He’ll not destroy himself anymore, well at least not entirely he’ll destroy himself so that he can give his angel what he has wanted for the past 6000 years. He will finally do something good for Aziraphale, perhaps his greatest sacrifice. -

Summary
This takes place roughly between chapter 7 and 8 of Heaven is not fit to house a love like you and I. The time Aziraphale and Crowley spent in the bookshop as Crowley gradually lost his fear of the angel, but before they actually got together.
Basically, Crowley's still a mess, and they each have their own ideas of what the other wants. They somewhat understand each other eventually, but there's still a long way to go.

Crowley sat on his bed watching Pride and Prejudice for the 5th time. This bed was his new home. His life raft. "Oh Darcy, you idiot!" He barked at the tv, "Can't you see you're in love?!"
The phone rang. He considered it might be any number of Dukes, minions, or underlings of hell, and eventually settled on answering it as a phone call was still better than a visit.
"Crowley here, in service of the dark lord Shax and Satan our master, how may I help you?"
"Crowley, It's me." He was sure his heart skipped a beat at the sound of Aziraphale's voice.
No answer. "Crowley, are you there? I need to see you."
"...yes. How did you know I'd be here?"
"There are only so many places you'd be."
"There are plenty of places I could be. Loads. Oodles of places."

They save the world. And only now that the dust is settling, now that they are not about to die in the next ten minutes. Only now, Crowley finally allows both his mind and eyes to wander to him, to the angel who is standing on his right, like he always used to, like he still belongs there. And considers the thought that he’d been avoiding for days: Aziraphale is back, back for the first time in three years, and while that may be exactly what Crowley desperately longed for, he somehow finds it deeply unsettling.
Or Crowley spent 6000 years wooing Aziraphale to no avail because when he was brave and confessed, the angel broke his heart and left for Heaven. But now, three years later, the world is safe for good and Aziraphale is back. Crowley, however, has given up because he doesn’t know where they stand anymore, and he honestly cannot deal with another heartbreak. That’s okay, because now Aziraphale seems to be more than willing to do the wooing.
