Al menos eso pensaron hasta que su héroe terminó aplastado por una enorme y pesada campana, ni los reflejos de La Leyenda fueron lo suficientemente rápidos como para salvarlo.
El Gato con Botas se despertó con un balde de agua fría, o siendo específico, de punzante verdad que atravesó su pecho. El tiempo no perdonaba... la muerte tampoco, cada descuido que el hombre pelirrojo tenía era una hoz que grababa en su hierro cada una de sus vidas marchitas. Claro, eso último no era algo que supiera Gato.
En el mundo había humanos, hadas, huevos parlantes, gatos. La diferencia entre ellos y los humanos felinos era que mientras los otros gozaban de una vida única, ellos podían reírse en la cara de la muerte. O al menos eso pensó mientras estaba en su burbuja de nueve vidas.

Kitty finally put her glass of leche on the table, and sat down, opening her sapphire eyes. She glared at him from the other side of the room, apparently dead serious, but he noticed the upper corner of her lips lifting ever so slightly, just what he needed to know they were on the same page. They were tangoing again, the two of them, and they were tangoing together.
Kitty picked up his boots and got off the table.
“Why?” she asked, her voice coming out husky. “You won’t need them where we’re going, gatito”.
Puss could have sworn he heard that damned cat go “ooooh” in the background.
