She reached forward to squeeze his hand lightly. “I'll see you soon.” With that, she went back the way she came, jumping the fence once more. “By the way, don't go to the cottage. The surprise will be outside.” Kaltenecker, who had followed her since she started to leave, lowed at her. “Hey there, sweet girl,” Leah said as she used both hands to lovingly scratch under her chin.
