Summary
Valisthea is dying.
While kings and countries vie for dwindling resources, the Bearers who make up a small portion of the population live and die by the whims of their owners. Clive, a Bearer slave born in Rosaria, couldn’t care less about the political machinations happening around him: the fall of his home country, the political alliances of Dominants, or the wars between nations. He cares about one thing – the freedom network known as the Road which aims to save as many Bearers as possible.
Unfortunately, it’s never that simple.
Or, Clive is born a Bearer. This changes some things and doesn’t change others.
Afterall, Ultima is still out there waiting on their Mythos.

Summary
His wasn't a tale many knew about. Sir Natten wasn't someone that many regarded as a hero. No, the knight had become what was conventionally known as a villain in order to save the one he loved. As he died on that beach, Clive contemplated what he would do to save his loved ones.
Would he become the hero to sacrifice all to save the world? Or would he decide to be the villain and sacrifice the world to save the ones his loved?
The choice wasn't going to be easy especially when the memories of a past life were slow to be remembered when he was living his new life.

Summary
Cid has always thought the romantic tales of souls switching to be overblown nonsense, not least because he’s seen it go bad so many times. Waking up as a Bearer in service to the Holy Empire of Sanbreque doesn’t seem likely to change his mind – especially not when he learns what, exactly, four Bearers are doing in the woods not far from Waloed’s camp.
Clive, meanwhile, hasn’t thought much at all about such things in the five years since the burning of Phoenix Gate. As far as he’s concerned, a switch with Waloed’s Lord Commander is just one more hardship that he needs to survive long enough to track down his brother’s killer and take his revenge.
Neither of them expect this switch to end well. Both of them, of course, are wrong.

Summary
Clive didn’t look up, but his pen stilled. “Go to sleep, Joshua.”
Joshua slinked closer, robe slipping to reveal a collarbone dusted with Dion’s fading marks: “Can’t. Dion’s in Dubai. The bed’s too… cold.”
Clive: “You’re playing a dangerous game.”
Joshua trailing a finger down Clive’s tie: “Games are only dangerous if you lose.” His toe brushed Clive’s calf under the desk. “Remember that summer in Nice? When you taught me to swim? You held me so tight I thought I’d drown.”
Clive answered hoarsely: “You were a kid.”
Joshua’s lips grazed Clive’s ear: “I’m not a kid anymore.”

Summary
His calcifying heart twinged at the thought of Cid.
'Do you see, Cid?' he thought as his vision failed like the rest of his broken body, the curse creeping over his flesh like the malignant thing it was. 'It’s done. I did it for you, for everyone. I just wish you could see it.'
The water lapped around him, under him, lifting him off the damp sand slightly, his heart beat struggling in a chest turning rapidly to stone.
'He knows, Mythos,' a voice he didn’t recognise echoed in his head, though he felt like he should, soothing, gentle like the waves lifting him. Then; 'quickly, quickly, we have but a moment.'
NOW! Another voice rumbled, this one familiar, urgent.

Summary
“Sleep while you can,” Tiamat orders.“Might not wake up.”
“Then don’t waste your breath talking.” Aevis had been quiet and still, knowing perhaps the same necessity that Tiamat did, but with Biast’s conceding he speaks again. His voice is softer than before.
“That pity, Aevis? Or hope?”
“Just tired of ghosts rehearsing their hauntings,” he mutters.
Biast hums. “Thought that was the point of ghosts.”
“No,” Tiamat says curtly. He looks away from his hands, from the idol, to where his unit lies.
“No?”
“The point of ghosts is to be buried.”
A strange film casts Wyvern’s gaze as he glances at Tiamat. That kindling again… but it is obfuscated with black smoke.
“And the point of our kind,” Tiamat continues, voice ringing in low mockery of a priest, “is to serve.”

Summary

“I…perhaps I have wanted you to do that,” Joshua softly said, avoiding his eyes. “That the feeling had always been mutual.”
“The feeling is more than just mutual, Firebird,” Biast sounded amused, but he pulled away. His eyes softened at Joshua's slightly flushed cheeks, and he thumbed at it.
