What if Akechi Goro had a palace and Ren found his way in? Would he be able to convince Akechi to join them? Is it too late if he finds said palace after Akechi betrays them and 'kills' the leader of the Phantom Thieves?
A rewriting of Persona 5 Royal with Akechi's palace and a slight rearranging of canon events to suit my plot and my Akeshu agenda :D

Akira’s life is quiet. It had always been that way before the Phantom Thieves, but it seems more like that now. That’s how it’s been since he came back and that’s how it will be until the day that he leaves again.
At least, that’s what he convinces himself until Goro Akechi walks right back into his life.

Therapy huh? He snorted once, soft enough not to disturb Akira. Looking up at the ceiling he breathed, head filling and filling with nothing and everything at once as the sun moved across it. He breathed once, twice. In and out, almost to remind him that his lungs worked, that his heart beat, that he was alive, alive, alive.
He was alive and it felt like anything but a gift. He shifted slightly at the thought, Akira grumbling in protest.
Akechi sighed once more, charged with his thoughts. He brought one hand to Akira’s hair, running through it to ground himself from his head, to apologize for thoughts Akira can't possibly know he had.
After all, how could he look at the reason he was alive today and tell him he didn't want it anymore?
He closed his eyes, counted his breaths. He didn't sleep and the world kept turning anyway.

For whatever reason, Goro Akechi was alive. For whatever reason, he had accepted a stupid deal to take part yet again in a game rigged against him. Only this time, things weren’t right. The phantom thieves were running rampant (or what was left of it anyway), nobody knew who he was, and it seemed as if the roles had been reversed. As the new year begins, so does a new game…
Based on the Persona 5 “Good Ending” but Akechi is there too. -

Akira had always thought something was off about Akechi. Nothing he ever said or did seemed genuine, it was almost as if he was wearing a mask at all times... not like he had room to judge. So for him, it didn’t come as much of a surprise when he found out that Akechi, did indeed, have a palace. The question that remains now, is what the Phantom Thieves will find inside of the distorted heart belonging to the Detective Prince.
