Chapter 7: A 9 year olds pinky promise

Summary:

Returning to your home town you started afresh. New school. New job. New house. But there was one thing you never wanted to change. Old friends.

Notes:

So this is based on NCT U - Without You. While everyone is jamming to the 7th sense I'm getting lit on Without You. I don't know why or how but it's my favourite NCT song. I love it. It has a sense of nostalgia and I love the music videos story. Well what I interpret from it anyways. So please ENJOY!!!

Chapter Text

A 9 year olds pinky promise - Min Yoongi/Suga

(CF/N) = Close Friends Name
(S/N) = Siblings Name

It started the second month you had moved back. You didn't realise, he didn't realise, no one did. But the day you set foot into that arcade with (CF/N) was the day he realised.

You stepped into the dimly lit arcade and spent a good hour or so playing many of the games in an attempt to rack up enough tickets to get the giant plush you wanted. A massive husky. Once you had 300 tickets between yourselves you made your way over to the counter and propped an elbow up in an attempt to find the stuffed toy you longed for. A boy, most probably your age walked up to the counter with an emotionless face but it instantly changed as soon as his eyes landed on you. You hadn't noticed this and carried on with the search party.

Yoongi paused for a fraction of a second. Wait... what? He couldn't comprehend. It couldn't be her. (Y/N) moved away 10 years ago when all of you were 9. But then, what would stop her from coming back? Yoongi took a moment longer to analyse her but his suspicions were soon confirmed.

"Hey (Y/N)? You want the stuffed Husky right?"

She turned around and smiling up at him she grabbed onto his arm shaking it back and forth gently before pointing up at her desired prize.

"Yeah! And look it's exactly 300 tickets! We can get it!"

She turned towards Yoongi and looked him dead straight in the face. Yoongi's breath got caught in his throat. Would she remember? Him, the gang, their promise?

Her face scrunched up in confusion and curiosity but she soon shook it off.

"Hi! Could we get the Siberian Husky prize?"

Yoongi's heart dropped and his face displayed disappointment, however, this went unnoticed as he had already turned around by then and reached for the hooked pole to pull down the toy.

Once he had retrieved it he placed it on the counter and said "Siberian Husky, here ya go..." in a cold distant tone. She thought nothing of this. Why would she? She didn't know him.

"Thank you, see you next time!"

She said in a polite hearty tone before picking the toy up and prancing off with the boy she was with.

Yoongi sighed. It was just about closing time and he went around to turn off all the games in the arcade. Once done he went back to the counter and noticed something on the floor. Picking it up slowly he inspected it and realisation dawned upon him. This was familiar. A small keychain with an even smaller picture of a group of four.

A picture. A picture of Yoongi,(Y/N), Namjoon and (S/N). They all looked happy and almost desperate as they all squeezed into the picture.

"Hey Yoongi! Mum wants us to take a picture together before we leave!"

A small boy, slightly taller then the girl who called him looked up from the swing he was sat on and hopped off. He ran off toward the waiting girl and stood next to her smiling.

"Hey! I want to be in the picture!"

A boy smaller then Yoongi but taller then (Y/N) came running up and jumped into the frame.

"What about me!"

A (Girl/Boy) also ran up to the three and jumped in next to Namjoon.

"Say cheese!"

"Cheeseeeeee~!"

Yoongi huffed. How could she forget this? Does she just not care anymore? With this on his mind he locked up and left the arcade making his way home.

2 weeks later and she had not been able to get the boy out of her head. Maybe it was love at first sight? No it couldn't be. Maybe just maybe love. But first sight? No. It didn't feel like it, she knew him. She was sure of it. Making her way to the Starbucks in which she worked at she clocked in and placed herself behind the counter until the cafe opened. But still he was on her mind. It was like something was refraining her from placing his face to something. A memory perhaps?

It was the same for Yoongi. He wasn't depressed more like down. Though no one really noticed since Yoongi hid his inner most feelings very well.

Well all except one person. Namjoon. He caught on earlier on and questioned Yoongi about it.

"Yoongi? Are you alright?"

Yoongi was slightly startled by his sudden appearance. He shook off the fright he had and turned to Namjoon.

"Yeah... Uh... Can I ask you something?"

Namjoon raised his eyebrow at this. Yoongi rarely asked him for help and when he did it was usually serious.

"Sure. Ya know I'm always here for you Yoongi."

"How do you think (Y/N) is doing?"

Namjoon froze. It had been so long since she had moved away and although they were young it hit them. Hard. Especially Yoongi, he may have been young but Namjoon always knew Yoongi was fond of (Y/N) when they were younger and maybe even now. He still had their childhood pictures up in his closet at home.

"Erm... probably good... why?"

Yoongi contemplated something for a while and then finally gave in.

"I think I saw her a couple of weeks ago."

Yoongi stepped into the cafe in search of caffeine. He was not getting much sleep and it was finally starting to take effect on him. He needed something, anything to get him up and running again and this was all he could think of.

Walking up to the counter he placed a note on the counter before asking for the strongest thing he could take this early in the morning.

"Can I have a Caramel latte to go please?"

When he received no answer he looked up only to find (Y/N) looking directly at him slightly surprised by his sudden appearance. Hope bubbled inside him and he looked up at her but she only turned away a look of denial showing on her face. Great.

"Sure. That will be 3.45 please." Yoongi handed her the note and just as he was about to pull away their fingers brushed against each other. He looked up to find her slightly flustered at this interaction but ignored it none the less.

Giving him back his change she picked up a plastic cup.

"What's your name?"

Yoongi observed her face as he replied.

"Yoongi. Min Yoongi."

The sound of a marker clattering against the floor made Yoongi look up but before he could even realise what was going on he was unable to move. He was in an embrace. A tight embrace.

"Yoongi..."

A small choked sob. A sob came from right next to Yoongi's ear and before he could stop himself he was hugging her even tighter. Then the words just came out.

"I missed you so much. So please don't ever leave me again."

"I'm not going anywhere this time..."

Yoongi placed the keychain in (Y/N)s hand before closing it with his.

"(Y/N) I promise that we will see each other again!"

"You pinky promise?"

Two little pinkies linked together in an attempt to withhold a bond that would never be severed.

"I pinky promise."
