Chapter 1: Friends?

Chapter Text

It was a calm morning at Nevermore preschool, little outcasts running around, everyone having a blast; except for one particular girl.
Wednesday Addams was not your typical little girl, she much rather play all by herself in a dark corner than running around screaming. She's more than content being on her own.

Other kids irritate her, especially one bubbly blonde girl.

She knew this girl very well, her hair was a very light blonde with colorful highlights, often fixed into piggy tails or neatly done with a bow or hair clip. She's always being seen carrying a soft lamb stuffed animal, clearly intended to be a newborns comfort item, she clinged onto it way past its due date for sure.
Her scent was of baby cologne and cotton candy, far too sugary for Wednesday's fondness.

How did she know this girl so well? She would never leave her alone, it was her worst nightmare.

“Hi!! Me Enid, you pwobably know me, i twy to twalk to you evewy day but you keep ignoring me!” Wednesday hears as she's pretending her porcelain doll is performing an autopsy on a stuffed frog, her lisps drive her nuts.

Wednesday ignores her desperate attempts to be involved in her pretend play, but she was fed up with it, so today she decided to actually answer her wishes.

She turns around to face the blonde girl, giving her a death stare. Enid takes a step back, holding onto her lamb tight.

“You may play with me, your rather filthy lamb is invited to join Dorothea during her autopsy, we are cutting open Mr. toad, he was run over by a car earlier today” Wednesday said giving a little smirk at the end of her sentence, knowing the whole plot would scare the blonde enough to send her away for a while.

Enid stares at Wednesday, a bit intimidated by the choice of scenario for her toys. Still, she felt she couldn't refuse her only chance of playing together.

“Goldie would love to join Dorothea, but she's vewy scawed of blood, can she watch fwom the side and hand her tools?” Enid replies, smiling so big it almost blinded the dark haired girl.

Shocked by the response, Wednesday moves aside and let Enid join in, still holding her porcelain doll, she stares at the blonde, receiving a soft smile from her.

Enid couldn't help noticing that the face on Wednesday’s doll was cracked, like a big scar across it.
A bit intimidated to know the answer, she proceeds to ask her what happened.

“How did Dowothea get huwt?” She asks eagerly, fear aside; but the answer shocked her.
“She belonged to one of my ancestors, Goody, she had psychic visions just like me, but she's long gone now” Wednesday stares at Enid, stroking Dorothea's soft curls as she speaks.

Enid just nods keeping a nervous smile on her face -“Oh, hand me downs, i get a wot, i have maaaaany bwothers!” said trying to move the conversation into something a bit less grotesque than death.

“I have a younger brother, he's mostly useful for my experiments regarding my uncle Fester, we electrocute him to see how much he's affected by it, not enough damage done yet.” Enid nodded, rather surprised at how unsafe that sounded, even for a 3 year old who is allowed all by herself in the woods, she's happy Wednesday and her have at least one thing in common.

—--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The day was almost done, parents started coming over to collect their children.

Enid realised she has to say goodbye to her hope-to-be new best friend.

After putting away all the toys neatly, they stand by the entrance waiting to be picked up, each holding their bags and comfort items.

Enid's bag was pink, sparkly and had the main six ponies from My Little Pony on it, whereas Wednesdays was black, dull, and had a small golden moon embroidered on it.

Wednesday was the first one to be picked up, Morticia was always on perfect timing.

“How was school today, my little rain cloud, did you have fun?” her mother asked, still at the entrance, kneeled down to Wednesday's height.

“Formidable, I'd like to introduce you to my new autopsy partner, me and Dorothea find her to be a great help at the lab” Wednesday looks over to Enid, who is now staring at them with a nervous smile, she clearly didn't understand a thing she just said.

The blonde waved at them, hoping that formidable means something good and that the phrase “me and Dorothea find her to be a great help at the lab” is Wednesday's way to say they are friends now.

Morticia waved back with a smile, they both said goodbye to Enid and took off in a big black limousine.

Enid remained at the school premises almost by herself, her mother always picked up her brothers before stopping by her school, making her always late for her only daughter's pick up time.

The little blonde only hoped they wouldn't forget about her once again, it was embarrassing walking back home all by herself, people stare and she's scared to make her mother look like a bad parent, although she definitely is.

Soon enough a car with very noisy wolves of all ages stops by the school, Enid sighs in relief that she'll get home partially safe today.

Chapter Text

The next day came around, and with that, a brand new school day.

Enid was often one of the first kids to arrive, still rather sleepy, she went to the toys, taking out baby doll playsets and pretending Goldie is her baby.

As other kids arrive, she keeps peeking at the door, hoping to see Wednesday come in. She can't really tell time, but she knows her friend is still never late.

Every kid had arrived, everyone else had their friends and were playing, she was not interested in playing if it wasn't with Wednesday. The blonde didn't exactly love gory play pretends like they played yesterday, she much rather play with dolls, build tall towers with legos and dress up, but she'd do anything as long as she could hang out with the dark haired girl. Anything.

To her surprise, Wednesday arrived while she was lost in her thoughts, but something was very off, her hair was fully down, no braid in sight.

“Is it even possible to unbwaid that hair??” Enid though, despite her shock, she skipped happily to her friend, who was placing her bag in the cubicle with her name on it.

“Nice hair Wends!” Said the blonde standing behind her, hands behind her back, smiling so big that if the sun shined through the window, it would make a mirror effect with light.

Wednesday turned around, despite her emotionless expression, her eyes looked puffy, probably from crying, that instantly worried Enid. If THE Wednesday Addams cried over something, it must be serious.

“Oh uh, awe you hwurt?!” The blonde asked eagerly, a bit scared to know the answer, she slowly approached her, noticing Wednesday taking Dorothea out of her bag.

“My mommy didn't have time to braid my hair today, she was busy taking care of my little brother” Wednesday shook her head before answering, holding Dorothea close to her, trying to hide her face with the porcelain doll.

“No bwaids, calling her mother “mommy” and hiding behind a doll?? This girl must be having a fevew! “ Enid thought.

“Why didn't you braid your own hair? It's pwetty easy!” Enid responded giggling a bit, she was an expert with hairstyles, she might struggle with painting inside the lines, but her hair was always immaculate.

“I… don't exactly know how to…” That answer shocked the little blonde, her jaw almost hitting the floor. She instantly took Wednesday's arm, pulling her along, in direction to the bathroom. The dark haired girl was too out of her usual self to fight that touch.

Enid brought along her own bag, taking out a pink sparkly hair brush and two black hair ties.
She began to brush Wednesday's hair very gently, just like she did with her dolls. Not knowing how much touch the goth could handle, she took it easy in hopes to get the darkness back into her friend. Deep down she loved being polar opposites.

Wednesday stared at the mirror, allowing Enid to initially brush and eventually start braiding her hair. She didn't enjoy being this vulnerable, but as soon as her braids started to take form, her emotionless persona was back.

“Awll done!” Exclaimed the blonde, stepping back and letting Wednesday feel her braids, a proud smile formed on Enid's face seeing her friend back to her usual self.

“WAAIT! You need this final touch!” The blondie proceeded to pull off a butterfly hair clip she had neatly clipped to her hair and placed it on Wednesday's hair. Biting her lip after doing so, in fear of what the reaction might be.

The feedback was mostly none, but a soft smile on Wednesday's lip did appear, almost sending Enid into a coma.

She.had.dimples.

Hiding her reaction, they both went back to the classroom. Enid followed Wednesday all day like a lost puppy, which partly she was. She only had eyes for her.

After a whole day of playing funeral, autopsy and multiple macabre scenarios per Wednesday's request, it was once again pick up time.

The little girls parted ways, the black haired left first, which gave Enid some time to talk to her former friends.

Yoko and Divina have been friends with Enid since forever, and are deeply worried about how much she obsesses over this goth, not to mention a bit jealous of how much she prefers to hang with her instead of them at recess.

“Girls, Wends is pwetty cool, and wanna know what the best part is? SHE HAS DIMPL…dimp… those wittle smiley holes on her chweeks!” Enid giggled as she spoke, she really wanted to introduce her new friend to her other favourite girls.

Chapter 3: Bullying

Notes:

Im trying to write like im running out of time (you guessed it, Hamilton reference) because I wanna be able to have Halloween chapter by Friday, but before I wanna properly introduce Agnes to the story.

Let's all try be delusional and pretend little Wednesday already has her psychic abilities as a child.

Chapter Text

Enid was the sweetest girl in the class, she was loving and caring, always willing to share and her smile was brighter than sunshine.
Despite being loved by most of her classmates and teachers, some kids just could not take how sweet she was.

That was the case of Bianca, she just couldn't let Enid have a peaceful day.

The blonde was sitting at a table, a picture she drew in front of her. She was adding the final touches with glue along with one of her favourite materials, glitter.
She was making a mess, but between the mess she was determined about what she was doing.
Glitter was everywhere, her hands, her hair, the table, even her clothes.
Enid was having a blast, until someone disturbed her peace.

“Well well well, if it isn't the little pup who always makes a mess” Enid looked up as she heard, standing beside her was Bianca and the sirens. She froze at the sight, they are never up to anything good, and teasing her was their favourite activity.

Enid looked down at her hands and clothes, it was true, she was a mess. That instantly brought tears to her eyes.

“And what's this? Only a baby draws this badly” Bianca claimed after picking up the unfinished drawing Enid worked so hard on.
“I not a baby, im thwee and thwee quawters!” The little one yelped, only to witness her drawing being ripped apart by a siren right in front of her tear- filled eyes.

“What are you gonna do about it? Is the baby gonna cry?” A siren spat, the little blonde just looked down and began to cry, clinging onto Goldie as she tried to hide her face.

“Too bad your new goth guardian isn't around to defend you, she must be so tired of you already” She heard between her own sobs, trying to calm down in order to defend herself.

“Wenny is my fwiend, don't talk badly about her!” It hurt her how mean they were towards her, but it hurt even worse how badly they talked about Wednesday.

Wednesday was at the playground, coloring wasn't her thing, she gets rashes every time she's near the colored crayons, not even her medicine could work against highly pigmented art utensils.

Instead she was digging up graves where she had buried different toys in the past, just to see how they were holding up.

When all of a sudden she had a vision, staring up as black tears rolled down her cheeks, she saw Enid being teased and picked on, but she couldn't quite see by who.

In a moment's notice the grave digging kit was dropped as she rushed into the classroom.

Only to instantly confirm what she saw in her vision was actively happening. Enid, sitting at the craft table, being intimidated by the sirens, especially Bianca.

Rage filled her little body, she has never cared so much about someone like she does with Enid, seeing her sobbing after being picked on makes her feel compassion for the blonde, a feeling absolutely foreign for her.

Walking up to the sirens, most of them rushing away at the sight of the double braided girl.

“Cowards”

She stood right in front of Bianca, staring right into her eyes.

“Look who appeared, the pig tailed emo came to rescue her defenseless little princess” Bianca announced, only making Enid cry worse. She wasn't defenseless, she was just sensitive!

“Im gonna make this clear and brief, listen up blob fish” Wednesday said firmly, she could see from the corner of her eye that Enid was crying her heart out, she wondered how much tears that little body produce.

“If you don't leave Enid alone I will personally make sure you don't make it to the end of the school year with your limbs intact, trust me, I know how to disassemble a pencil sharpener” Bianca took a step back after listening carefully. As much as she didn't like to admit it, she was a bit frightened by Wednesday's threat.

Once Bianca was gone, the black haired little girl turned to the sobbing pup next to her.

“Thank you Wenny” sobbed Enid, she stood up, still holding Goldie like a shield. Knowing Wednesday wasn't a hugger, she still leaned in for a hug, and by lean means she completely wrapped the goth in a tight hug.

A bit startled after being wrapped in a hug, she got a glimpse of Enid's tear-stained face. Something inside her broke by seeing her friend so vulnerable, once again a feeling she never experienced before with anyone.

Softly, Wednesday wrapped her arms around the sobbing creature, rubbing her back gently, hoping it would soothe down the sobs.

It helped, the blonde pulled away from the hug, her face puffy from crying, smiling ever so gently looking at Wednesday.

“You're the best fwiend I ever had”

Wednesday replies after a moment of contemplation-

“You're the only friend I ever had”

Chapter Text

Despite Wednesday's threats, Enid was still getting bullied, but this time by a new kid.

Recently a new girl transferred to their class, but they haven't seen her yet.
Still, Enid definitely felt her presence.

This teasing was different, a bit more subtle. Whenever she was playing, toys would randomly disappear whenever she looked away and her hair was pulled suddenly when she was focused on coloring, but the worst was yet to come.

It was a lovely day outside, so Enid and Wednesday spent most of their day playing outside, leaving Goldie and Dorothea by their bags, so they wouldn't get dirty or damaged.

Between swinging on the swings, sliding down slides and trying to catch butterflies the day went on, and when it started to get a bit chilly, the teacher told them it was time to head inside.

Wednesday's braids were covered in flowers Enid picked up and added to her hair, and as they held hands they walked inside in order to start getting ready for pick up time.

As they got to their bags, Enid noticed that only Dorothea was sitting by their stuff, Goldie was nowhere to be found.

The blonde immediately started to panic, her most priced possession was gone, and with it, so was her comfort.

Wednesday stood right next to Enid, inspecting carefully what in her mind was a crime scene.
Grabbing her porcelain doll, she noticed there was a ginger hair on her doll's dress, a potential clue to know who stole Goldie.

“Enid.” said Wednesday firmly while still holding her hand. Enid didn't hear a thing, she was too busy panicking.

“Im never gonna find Goldie again, i will never sleep again because i cannot sleep without her, my life is totally wuined! I'm witerally having a heart attack wight now!” whined Enid, as she began to cry uncontrollably.

“I said Enid.” Wednesday squeezed her hand, which got her the attention she needed.

The pig tailed girl lifted up her hand, exposing the single ginger hair she had found, earning a confused look from the blonde.

“Wenny, I witterally have no idea what I'm supposed to see, can't you see I'm panicking over hewe!?” she said between sobs.

“Use your brain for once Enid, it's ginger hair, no one else in the class has ginger hair, that only leaves us with one suspect” Wednesday said, staring at Enid to see if she could connect the dots.

The girl just sobbed, she was too upset to think straight.

“The new girl stole it, it's obvious” Wednesday explained after a sigh, Enid's face went from sadness to anger in a matter of seconds.

“She been pulling my hwair and stealing my toys this past week, but I dwaw the lwine at stealing Goldie, that new girl is dead meat!” Enid screamed, getting louder with every word she said, her anger was enough to unintentionally bring her claws out, and her fangs were showing.

Luckily she hasn't wolfed out yet, or the whole class would pay for what one girl did.

“Calm down, I'll get to the bottom of this, park your claws.” Wednesday advised, letting go of the wolves hand, beginning to walk back to the play ground.

Enid followed after a soft whine came out of her, putting her claws away and wiping her tears as best she could with her sweater sleeve.

There was a big tree at the playground, big enough to not see if someone was sitting behind it.

Most kids were gone, parents had already come, but there was some noise coming from behind the tree.

Approaching slowly, Wednesday peaked behind the tree, followed by Enid doing the same, what they saw shocked them.

A little girl, slightly but visibly younger than them, was sitting there, hair tucked into two braids just like Wednesday's hair always is, playing with a stuffed orange fox and…Goldie??

Enid instantly pulled out her claws, ready to attack, and she would have, if it wasn't because the black haired girl stopped her -“Put those away right now” she said whispering.

Wednesday stood right in front of the ginger girl, her big green eyes looked up slowly, a bit intimidated by the goth in front of her.

“That lamb does not belong to you.” she said firmly, expecting a comeback from the younger girl, instead they were interrupted by a far too loud wolf.

“THAT'S MY LAMB YOU WITTLE PSYCHO!” Enid screamed, appearing behind Wednesday, resulting in the ginger to begin to tear up.

Suddenly, the girl turned invisible, it seemed like she just vanished out of nowhere.
“Invisibility. That explains why we never saw her pull tricks on you, fascinating.” Wednesday said softly, as Enid couldn't hold either her anger or sadness within her, resulting in once again tears.

“I didn't mean to steal your lamb, i just wanna be friends with you two” a soft sobbing voice came out of nowhere. Instantly, the little girl became visible, her eyes flooded with tears which were already streaming down her cheeks.

Holding Goldie out for Enid to take, the ginger stared down, ashamed of what she had done.

Enid took her stuffie, pushing away her anger and being comforted once again knowing her precious buddy was back in her arms.

“Fwiends no steal eachowther toys.” She stated firmly, this led the ginger to look up at the blonde, her tear filled green eyes met the wolves blue eyes.

“F-friends?” The braided ginger asked, a hopeful smile appeared on her face.

“Yes, friends, but you dare to steal from Enid once again and I can guarantee you will never see daylight again. Understood?” Wednesday stated, looking at the new girl who just nodded nervously.

“Well since we awe awll fwiends now… what's your name?” Enid asked, playing with Goldie's paws and giving the girl her usual bright smile.

“I'm Agnes”.
