Chapter Text
It had been seven days since Shen Wenlang found out that Gao Tu was the omega he'd slept with.
On the first day Wenlang was just confused. Gao Tu. His secretary Gao Tu. His best friend Gao Tu. His Gao Tu. Was the one he'd slept with. The one he felt compelled to be with at every waking moment. The omega that had coerced him into coming into that room and sleeping with him was right under his nose all this time.
Wenlang was confused to say the least. How could Gao Tu lie to him for ten whole years about his status? He knew his opinion on omegas, how could Gao Tu do this to him?
At first he thought Hua Yong was lying to him to get back at him for something he may have said to ‘his precious Mr Sheng’ but after thinking about it and calling Hua Yong to make sure it wasn't a prank and Hua Yong showing him the picture of the omega wearing the exact same suit Gao Tu always wore he knew that Hua Yong couldn't be lying.
His next thought was ‘Why?’ Why would Gao Tu lie about this? Why would Gao Tu even befriend him in the first place? And most of all, why would Gao Tu sleep with him?
He knew that the omega he slept with was in heat but why would Gao Tu let him sleep with him? Were all omegas just that addicted to an alpha? He knew Gao Tu wasn't like the other omegas he'd interacted with before, he wasn't fawning over him for his money, he didn't beg for attention, he wasn't deranged like other omegas.
Wenlang spent the second day after finding out that Gao Tu was an omega drinking away his problems. He drank almost every single bottle of expensive scotch in his house. He wasn't really an avid scotch drinker, he only ever drank to seem powerful and distinguished in front of potential business partners and he preferred something less strong when partying and getting drunk. Today was an exception, he didn't even call out of work, he had dozens of meetings, excluding those he rescheduled from yesterday. He didn't answer to any knocks at his door, only a groan from his position on the coach and a sigh until the knocks disappeared.
He probably would have done this again on the third day if Hua Yong hadn't shown up and kicked his door down, literally. He forced Wenlang to get up, take a shower and change into new clothes, not before a very drunk Wenlang cried into his shoulder and demanded that Hua Yong was evil and he was happy just thinking that Gao Tu was a beta. He felt fresher after the shower but the pang in his chest that had been there since Gao Tu resigned still remained.
Hua Yong told Wenlang that he could take as much of a break as he needed and that things were handled at HS Group and he should try to get a hold of himself before he inflicts his anger onto his poor employees who had nothing to do with it. Before leaving Hua Yong made Wenlang drink five glasses of water and muttered something about how he had to leave a sleeping Mr Sheng for this.
On day four Wenlang took action. His calls to Gao Tu hadn't gone through for the past week and he didn't have his sister's information. He took a quick trip to the hospital only to find out that Gao Tu's sister had been discharged a few days ago. He called the only relative of Gao Tu that he knew would answer, Gao Tu's unbearable father.
He had a deep hatred for Gao Tu's father since they'd met in high school. He knew about the percentage of his salary that was sent to his pig father to pay off his debts to the loan sharks and casinos he'd pissed off while gambling. He knew that even when the debts were fully paid he'd go back to the casino and start the process over again. He also knew that Gao Tu still cared for his father and still did this regardless of his small home and low food supply which is why he knew that Gao Tu's father was going to lead him to his ome- Gao Tu.
He clicked on the contact named ‘Gao Tu’s Pig Father’ and pressed the dial button. He waited for a few seconds while it rang, tapping his foot on the floor impatiently until a man's voice answered. “Hello?”
“Hello, this is Shen Wenlang, I work with your son Gao Tu.” He said. He didn't want to reveal that he was Gao Tu's boss just yet, knowing the man would probably ask for money in return for information. Wenlang wouldn't mind giving him money, he just didn't want to cause unnecessary problems.
“Shen Wenlang? You're Gao Tu's boss aren't you? Tu talks about you a lot. ” Gao Tu's father asked. Gao Tu talked about him to his family? He had only ever met his sister a few times in the hospital and he only had his fathers number because Gao Tu called him one day from there to say that he had an emergency. Of course he talked about Gao Tu to Hua Yong and some of his other friends but he never expected Gao Tu to speak about him. He wonders what Gao Tu was saying about him, was he just bad mouthing him as a boss or did he talk good things about Wenlang. Wenlang sure hopes it was the latter but he can't really be sure.
“Yes,” He didn't feel the need to lie and just cut to the chase so that this phone call wouldn't be any longer, “I've been trying to reach Gao Tu but he isn't answering and I need to speak to him. Do you know where he is?”
“Ahh of course I know where my son is. I’ll contact you soon and we can meet up.” he heard Gao Tu's father say.
“Don't tell Gao Tu it's me who wants to meet up, i don't think he'll come if he knows.” Wenlang said before he cut the call.
That's where he is now, three days after that phone call sitting in a high end restaurant waiting for Gao Tu and his father. Today he was going to tell Gao Tu to come back to the company and that he knows that he was the omega at the hotel and would like to court him properly. He picked the best restaurant in the city in hopes that Gao Tu would be impressed by the view and the luxury items. He also hopes Gao Tu feels the same way and wouldn't embarrass him in front of the whole restaurant. Wenlang knew that this was a very real possibility and probably a more likely scenario but maybe he needed Gao Tu's rejection to finally move on and the pain in his chest would finally go away.
He heard them before he saw them and as soon as they turned the corner wenlang saw him. He looked even more dashing then when he last saw him, he was wearing plain clothes, too plain for this type of restaurant, but that didn't matter. Gao Tu was clearly shocked to see him there and froze on the spot. Gao Tu's father pushed him into the chair and took the seat next to him.
“Let's cut to the chase. Gao Tu's pregnant.”
Pregnant. Gao Tu already had an alpha. Gao Tu wasn't in love with him.
“I can't be pregnant, I'm a beta.” He heard Gao Tu say after a few moments of awkward silence. Wenlang felt like scoffing at that.
“Here's his medical records showing that he's an omega and if you don't believe me we can go to the hospital and they can do a blood test." Gao Tu’s father said, handing him a few papers. He looked over the papers aimlessly, his eyesight was too blurry to even comprehend any words.
Gao Tu went silent and his demeanor shifted and Wenlang wanted to reach over the table and comfort him, but he knew that it wasn't his place to do so, Gao Tu had an alpha. An alpha that wasn't him.
Before Wenlang could reach for his glass of wine Gao Tu's father started speaking again, “He's pregnant and the baby's yours. We requested 10 million yuan for an abortion.” Both his and Gao Tu's heads turned towards the man speaking.
Gao Tu is pregnant with his baby and gao tu wants to abort the baby.
His rage filled brain couldn't register what happened for the next few minutes. The only things running through his brain was ‘protect’, protect Gao Tu and protect the baby.
The next thing he registered was Gao Tu getting up to excuse himself to the bathroom. He tried calling after him and trying to run after him but a hand caught his wrist, Gao Tu's father.
“Let's settle the money while he calms down. You know omegas and how they act when they're pregnant.” Wenlang couldn't have whipped out his checkbook quicker. He signed a check for 20 million yuan and ran after Gao Tu into the bathroom.
"Here's the money, let him do anything he wants I just need to make sure he's alright." He said, already leaving the man at the table.
He knocked on the door, “Gao Tu,” he tried, “Gao Tu im sorry. Open the door please and we can talk about this.” He said, still no answer. “I’ll give you any amount of money you want, please just come out.” He couldn't hear anything in the bathroom. Worried that Gao Tu might be injured in the bathroom he told a staff member to unlock the bathroom with a key. When he went in there was no trace of Gao Tu, only an open window and the faint scent of the omega in the bathroom.
