Eclipse stood in royal garden writing in a journal that she got for her 15th birthday. That was a week ago. She was supposed to travel to Corona at night mainly because the brotherhood had always traveled the fastest at night under the moon's protection. Aunt Adira was supposed to be supervising when they got there.
Eclipse would prefer her uncle Hector (yes she is picking favorites) but she did know that he would probably kill a few people by accident (not really by accident) or burn something.
Her mom was busy fixing up some of Eclipse's clothes for the occasion. Because she tore some of them while training. Nightingale her cat was asleep right next to her.
The dark kingdom was a quiet place and the citizens were all the fine with that. The only times when the whole kingdom was good with loudness was festivals and the sort.

"Who's the kid?" a man asked Eclipse looked back at him. He was tall not taller than her mother she mentally noted that. Maybe Eclipse could beat him in a fight. That was up for debate her mother looked at Eclipse before answering.
"She would be my daughter Eclipse" her mother answered
"That makes sense you were always motherly, despite my annoyance" he whispered the last part.
Eclipse was peeking her head out from hiding behind her mother.

The moon shine brightly lighting up the path for the group Eclipse could see the sun kingdom. It was unbelievably bright it hurt her eyes, But when you live in the kingdom where crops thrived in moonlight and barely saw the sun it might hurt her eyes.
"Gosh it is bright" Varian muttred
"Now I see why you guys complain about it all the time" Eclipse said the brightness was giving her a headache.

When they got to the kingdom it was afternoon before they fell asleep in the entirety of the morning. But that's alright because the whole all kingdom ball thing and the meeting soon after between the dark kingdom and the light kingdom was in the afternoon and evening. Which was in a few minutes.
Eclipse grumbled something about getting her quiver,bow and potion as well as her favorite dagger taken away. Varian also had many of his weapons (alchemy,his bow and arrows,daggers) taken away as well.
Aunt Adira had to attend a meeting with the royals of Corona living the teens to deal with representing the brotherhood at a ball. Oh well there are worse fates. Varian didn't have anything to do but chat with Eclipse both of them were getting side eyes and whispers but they could care less.
It was entertaining to watch the drama unfold. Till the two of them were approached by girl with long golden blonde hair in a braid. They would be idiots if they didn't know who this was.
"Your highness" Varian said bowing down which caused Eclipse to disassociate from her thoughts and do the same.
"No none of that just call me Rapunzel" the princess said before pausing.
"And you are?" Rapunzel asked curiously
"Eclipse of the dark kingdom"
"And Varian of the dark kingdom" the two said
Rapunzel eyed the clasps that they wore.
"Are you two part of the brotherhood? If so you two look so young" Rapunzel asked
"Well we're knights in training an- Varian answered which in turn was interrupted by the princess's handmaiden.
"If so how old are you two" she said dryly and blutently
"Well i'm 15 he's 14" Eclipse answered
"Well that's awful young don't you think?" she replied
"Of course" Varian told her

Yeah you could say things went wrong. Now right after that encounter with the princess things were easy going and barely anyone thought of approaching the two.
And everything went wrong when the lights were cut off. And yes Eclipse and Varian expected the worse. I mean they were taught to expect the worse and be pleasantly surprised when the best happens.
Eclipse was conveniently next to the weapons that were dumped in front of the ballroom. She rummaged through it tossing Varian his bow and quivers along with his chemicals. Eclipse didn't have time to get her potions so she just striped her quiver and took her bow.
If the best were to happen they would have already descalated the situation. Besides that Eclipse checked the doors they were locked.
That is not some coincidence and in the seconds she could swear that a purplish gas was coming in of the doors.
Eclipse took a cloth from the table covering her mouth Varian did the same they knew what it was.
