Chapter Text

It's a nice and rainy day outside…

Traffic's gonna be terrible though.

You yawn and stretch as you slowly get out of bed.

You head to the bathroom after grabbing some fresh clothes.

You take a look at yourself in the mirror.

Dark bags hang under your eyes and you look utterly exhausted.

Nothing new no matter how much sleep you get.

Doesn’t really matter though, at least you still look presentable.

Your nice toned body shows from under your shirt as you scratch under your breast.

You straighten up and stand tall at 6’4” but you quickly relax and sigh.

You turn away from the mirror and start a cold shower.

You honestly prefer hot showers but apparently cold showers are better for your skin so you just tough it out.

You think about your plans for the day.

You don’t have work so all you need to do is take your son, (C/n), to school.

He just turned 10 a couple of months ago.

He’s grown into a fine young boy from the whiny little baby you used to carry around.

Although sometimes you miss when he was so small.

Just thinking about your darling son puts a warm smile on your face.

You quickly finish getting ready and brush your teeth.

You decide to check on your son in his room.

You quietly open the door and easily find him comfortably curled up on bed lightly snoring.

You smile before making your way over to his sleeping form.

You gently shake him awake.

“It’s time to get ready for school, Bubba.”

(C/n) groans as he rapidly blinks his eyes trying to shake the sleep from them.

He looks at you with a sleepily smile on his face.

“Good morning, Mama.”

You chuckle and pat his head as he sits up.

“Morning, Baby. Get dressed, I’m going to start breakfast.”

Your son nods and starts getting up.

As you leave you stop in the middle of the doorway and look back at your child.

“I’ll make your favorite, waffles and bacon.”

He cheers and thanks you before he quickly runs over to his closet to get some clothes out.

You get downstairs to the kitchen and start getting the ingredients for breakfast out.

It doesn’t take long for you to make everything so you make some coffee as you sit down and wait.

Your son eventually comes down the stairs fully dressed in a cute sweater and shorts.

He carries his backpack over to the table and hops up into his seat.

(C/n) thanks you for the meal before he digs in.

You chuckle and begin eating aswell.

You make idle chat as you eat.

"Like the rain, honey?"

Your son excitedly nods.

"Mhm, there's even a frog out there!"

You softly smile.

"Maybe you'll get to see it outside when you get back home later."

He looks back out the window.

"I hope so."

The two of you get up as you finish breakfast.

Your son runs out to the car as you follow behind.

He jumps in as you sit down and start it up.

It’s a short drive to the school as your son just stares at the window in awe.

You drop him off and wish him a good day before you return home.

You throw your bag on the ground as you plop down on the couch and get out your phone.

“Lonely Souls”

A game about dating strange and eccentric pairs of skeleton brothers who also just so happen to be cousins. It was an awfully convenient backstory to how so many similar-looking pairs of brothers would possibly be related, but some fans liked to theorize that they were alternate versions of each other. The other love interests are also assumed to be related to the main ones however, it has never been answered by the creators.

Though the game itself seems lighthearted it hides a darker side of the love interests that comes out once you actually try to seduce them.

You could die easily from just one wrong choice which made many fans rage quit until they eventually succumbed to the temptation of the entertaining game.

Some brothers were easier to date such as the “classic” types like Sans & Papyrus or Blue & Stretch. However just because they were considered simpler routes didn’t mean that they didn’t have their own dangers within their respective routes.

The most infuriating routes however would be the ones in Hard Mode.

There was also an Extreme Mode however you were never able to complete a route in that mode.

You enjoyed playing the game a lot before having your son. Even now you casually play it sometimes. 

It’s probably because you never had time for dating and the few times you attempted to didn't end well. Maybe it's strange that the 2D guys comfort me but it's almost like they know when you’re sad. 

You haven't felt the want to play it as often now but an expansion pack just came out and You have to try it. 

Now that (C/n) is at school you decide to buy the expansion pack and play it for a couple hours. They added some new routes and secret endings. You're a bit of a completionist so you can't help but do everything. 

Eventually it’s time to pick up (C/n) and when you bring him home he takes interest in what you’re playing. You sit him down next to you and move to change the game to something the both of you could play when strange text pops up on the screen.

'Hello Player!'

'Congratulations on being selected to try the all new DLC of Lonely Souls!'

'Commencing DLC…'

You look at the screen confused when the things in the room start to scatter about the and your phone begins rumbling as it floats out of your hand. 

You grab your son to shield him from the rapid projectiles and feel your consciousness fade out….

..

…You wake up in a pitch black room, your son lays at your side unconscious.

You see text that looks similar from earlier on your phone screen however this text floats on a flat translucent rectangle in the air..

'Hello Player. I am your System.'

System? Like a video game?

You get up and quickly scan the room as you pick your son up into your arms.

"What the hell is this?"

'You are currently within the DLC of Lonely Souls.'

'You will play the game from within it rather than through a screen. I will try my best to help you in this process. If you can complete the game then you can live freely.'

This…

This can’t be real.

"What about my home? My life?"

'You can't go back. It shouldn't matter much anyways as your son is the only thing important to you. That is why we have brought him with you.'

You grab your hair in frustration but let out a defeated sigh. You look down at (C/n). 

You didn't have any attachments in the world other than him. You can get through anything as long as you have him.

You look at the floating textbox, or your “System” as it called itself.

“Well what am I even supposed to do to complete this game?”

‘All you need to do is complete one route in every mode and fulfill the requirements.’

You raise an eyebrow as your task sounds relatively easy.

You just sigh and lightly shrug before looking back at the screen.

"Okay, how do I start this game of yours?"

'We will start with your character creation.'

This damn thing keeps trying to rush me.

"What about my son?"

You let out a frustrated sigh. 

A new text box with the word 'Start' on it appears in front of me. 

You hold your son tightly and touch it.

…

…

…You wake up on a bench. 

It looks like you're at a park. 

(C/n) rests at your side.

You contemplate on how to address this to him.

He is 10 years old now, you feel like it's only right to tell him the truth somewhat… at least a sugar-coated version of the current events. 

After that you need to find a place to stay.

You gently shake him just like you had this morning and he drowsily wakes up.

"Huh? M- Mama? Where… are we?"

You solemnly smile at your son.

"We're in… a new place. Mama thought we needed… somewhere to start over."

(C/n) curiously looks around as he processes the information.

"What about school?"

You chuckle.

"You're still going to go to school, mister."

(C/n) makes a little pout before hopping off the bench.

You get up and take out your phone. You notice a new app on it. You'll check it out after getting the two of you to a hotel. You start walking, holding your child's hand.

You arrive at a hotel and book a room. You take a look at your quests as you sit on your bed. A cartoon plays in the background.

You huff and take a look at your inventory.

That’s pretty good actually. 

You get up and stretch. You suppose it's time to complete ‘The Hunt' since you have such little time. 

You tuck your son into bed and kiss him goodnight. 

You leave the hotel and start walking on the sidewalk, your heels clicking against the concrete. 

As you pass an alley you notice a slumped over skeleton. 

It looks like he's hurt. 

You debate on helping the skeleton before walking over to him. 

His dim eye lights weakly look over at you. 

You kneel down.

"Are you okay, sir?"

He weakly shakes his head and you notice how he's tightly covering his side. 

You lean over as you hover your hands over the area and look up at the skeleton to get permission to touch him.

He doesn't stop you so you carefully move his hands. 

It looks like he had been stabbed in the ribs, burnt orange magic leaks from the wound.

You pull a Monster Candy out of your inventory and put it up to his mouth. 

He looks up at you cautiously before eating it causing his ribs to slowly start to healing and closing the wound. 

As you look over the skeleton you recognize him as one of the main Love Interests, 'Mutt'.

From what you know you think he'd be good to have around. He's very protective over the Player on his route but you do need to get his brother's approval. 

You help him get up slowly.

"Do you have someone I should call?"

Mutt chuckles lightly before slightly wincing at the movement of his freshly healed ribs.

"nah, I'll be aight, darlin'."

He gets up and seeing that he is able to stand by himself now you decide take his word.

"Stay safe…"

"Mutt."

"Mutt. I'm (Y/n), I hope to see you around. But, preferably not injured in an alleyway."

You give him a small smile before waving him goodbye as you walk back to the hotel having assumed that you completed your Quest. 

You check your phone and see the addition to Love Interests and Achievements.

You look over at your son who sleeps peacefully next to you. 

You gently pet his head and slowly get up. 

You feel your bones pop and crack as you stretch.

Today, you have some errands to run so you call the hotel babysitter as you wake up (C/n).

You tell him you're going to be out for a bit and that the babysitter will watch him.

You head towards Grillby’s and straighten up your top. 

You carry the Elephant Charm in the hopes that its Luck will help you secure a job. 

You enter the restaurant. 

It's pretty nice, there are two short skeletons at the bar top. 

You think it's Sans and Red based on their jackets.

Red seems to be passed out but Sans is still sipping on a bottle of ketchup albeit he’s likely tipsy judging by the faint blue blush on his cheeks.

You approach Grillby who works behind the bar.

"Hello, I wanted to apply for the night shift job opening."

Grillby stares at you silently. 

He seems to make some kind of observation as he nods and leads you to the back. 

You follow him and sit down in front of his desk. 

He asks you a couple of questions to make sure you're the right fit for the job and happily hires you.

It’s funny how you can tell how he feels (he’s kinda cute too).

"When do I start?"

"Tomorrow. Hours are 6pm to 12pm."

You smile happily.

"That sounds great. I'll see you tomorrow, Grillby."

He nods and gives you a firm handshake before you leave. 

You decide not to talk to the skeletons at the moment since you'll meet them again now that you work at Grillby's.

However, Sans does give you a curious look before going back to nursing his drink.

Now it’s time to go to Muffet’s, Grillby’s was your first choice so if you don’t get the job at Muffet’s then it’s fine.

You approach the cafe and just from looking in through the window, you can see Stretch and Mutt inside.

You’re a little excited to see Mutt again but you need to get the job first.

As you enter the two quickly notice you.

Stretch tries to subtly take a look at you but Mutt looks pleasantly surprised before he starts to check you out.

You only give Mutt a warm smile and wave causing him to lightly blush as he gives you a nod in greeting.

You get to the counter and wait for Muffet to finish talking to a customer.

After she serves them she comes over to you.

“Hello, Dearie. What would you like?”

You give her a polite smile.

“I’m here for the interview.”

Muffet looks at you in recognition.

“Ah, I was expecting you, Dearie. Please follow me.”

Unlike Grillby, Muffet doesn’t have an office so she instead just brings you into the kitchen and has you sit on a chair next to the island.

She quickly conducts the interview and seems quite pleased but asks you one final question.

“And, how do you feel about spiders, Dearie?”

You had expected this question and fortunately you did not fear bugs like most.

“I don’t mind them.”

Muffect claps her hands together with a smile.

“You’re a perfect fit for the job, Dearie. You’ll work from 8am to 1pm and can start Monday.”

Hell yeah, double the money. (...and twice the work but it’s not like you don’t have plenty of time.)

“Thank you, I’m very excited to work with you.”

Muffet hands you an apron.

“Me as well, Dearie. This is your apron, there is no uniform but please dress professionally.”

You nod and take the apron before wishing her goodbye as you exit the kitchen.

You look back over at where Stretch and Mutt were sitting and begin to approach them.

While Mutt seems excited (you can almost imagine a tail wagging behind him), Stretch looks a little nervous.

But he was more the shy and anxious type compared to Mutt, although during Mutt’s route, you get to see that side of him too.

You take a seat at their table with a warm smile.

“hey, darlin’.”

“It’s good to see you again, Mutt. Are you better now? You were in rough shape last night.”

"im fine, darlin'. you fixed me right up."

"Good, I was worried."

Mutt blushes a bit and looks away as he takes a bite of his donut.

“And, who’s your friend?”

Stretch tenses a bit from being put on the spot but quickly mellows out to keep up his chill persona.

“i’m Stretch. You a friend of Mutt’s?”

You smile charmingly at the nervous skeleton.

“It’s nice to meet you, Stretch. I’m (Y/n). Mutt and I just happened to cross paths before but it’d be nice to get to know him better.”

“Alright, well it was nice seeing you two but I have some errands to run.”

Mutt looks slightly disappointed but hides it behind a crooked smile.

"see you around then, darlin’."

Stretch just waves you goodbye as you leave the cafe.

You let out a yawn.

Just a couple more things to do.

You have to buy groceries, get the house, and go to the mall to get some stuff.

You’re wallet may be hurting at the end of this but it will be worth it…

Yeah totally.

You had looked at apartment listings last night and surprisingly found a nice cottage for sale. 

It's actually a pretty good deal. 

However, it's a bit of a distance away from most places so you’ll definitely need a car. 

You call up the seller and set up a meeting time. 

Since you’re free until then you you stop by a grocery store. 

You buy a good mix of regular food and monster food. 

You also grab some more monster candy and a first aid kit. 

As you try to decide on what pasta to get you hear a sigh from beside you.

"Human."

You look over and see Edge. One of the rougher Love Interests but very sweet once you get through his route.

"Yes?"

"I Am Looking For The Best Lasagna Noodles But I Somehow Can Not Find The Brand I Usually Buy. You Look Like An Avid Chef Considering The Many Ingredients In Your Cart. Which Would You Recommend?"

Huh. He's asking for your opinion? And he doesn't even know you? You take a quick look at your Charisma.

Edge accepts the pasta.

He walks off. 

You absently wonder how often your 'Tall Mommy' skill will be in effect.

After leaving the store (and putting the groceries in your inventory) you look for a bus that could drop you off at a stop near the woods where the cottage resided.

Fortunately, you’re able to find one but the drive is 5 G, feels like a bit of a waste but it will be ultimately worth it.

You definitely need your own car.

…

The bus leaves you only about a mile from your destination so it’s a quick walk to the cottage.

The seller meets you there and shows you around the place. 

It's a bit of a fixer upper but it's more cost effective and safe compared to the other places. 

You also like that there's a garden. 

You always had an interest in growing your own food. 

You buy the place and try not to feel your inner penny pincher screaming at you before you start cleaning up a bit.

Fortunately, the house provided some cleaning supplies and basic furniture.

This is good for you since you’re not really in a situation to splurge on so much stuff (unless it’s for your son.)

While taking a break you sit down on the (surprisingly new) couch and check your Inventory.

At least you don’t have to rebuy everything.

You set up your son’s room and look at your System before you leave to pick him up.

'I am glad you asked, Player. The requirements differ in each game but in this one, your only requirement is to complete 1 route. However, it is only so easy as this is your first run.'

You nod as you continue on.

"Will my son lose his memory in each new game?"

'He will not be affected by your restarts.'

You sigh with relief.

At least (C/n) won't be reset with the world every time. 

You decide you'll think about your objectives later after picking up your son. 

You head back to the hotel and pay the babysitter before asking your baby how his day was.

"I missed you, Mama. But, the babysitter let me watch Animal Planet!"

You smile with amusement.

"Oh did they? What'd you learn?"

(C/n) talks animatedly about big cats as the two of you walk to the mall.

As you walk you root through your pockets for a piece of candy you suddenly touch a small piece of paper.

You pull it out (noting that it was actually a familiar purple napkin) and open it up.

“XXX-XXX-XXXX  call me darlin ;P”

That sneaky little…

You chuckle fondly before adding his number into your phone and sending a quick text.

You finally find two pieces of monster candy and pop one in your mouth while you hand the other to your son.

“Mmm, thanks, Mama!”

You pat him on the head with a smile as you finally approach the mall.

…

It’s actually really big.

Definitely bigger than the (very few) malls you had been to in your world.

As you soon as you walk in you make a beeline for the map.

You’re set on not wasting more time than you have to at this place. (Too big a chance of meeting skeletons)

Your first destination is a kids clothing store.

There are not many to choose from but you just go for the one that’s closest by.

When you enter it’s certainly bright and colorful; many adorable outfits line the shelves.

You see your son’s eyes practically sparkle as he looks around.

You lead him to an area that has clothes for kids his age.

“Pick out some shirts and pants, honey. Go wild!”

(C/n) cheerily nods before running off.
You begin looking at some of the clothes while keeping (C/n) in view.

You find a couple of good outfits and place them in your cart before strolling over to your son who is holding way too many items of clothing.

You gently take them from his hands and he startles until he turns around and realizes it’s you.

“Hi, Mama! I got a lot of stuff!”

You chuckle.

“I see that, baby. How about we start having you try them on.”

“Huh?”

It seems that your son forgot about that part and tries to avoid going into the changing room as you push him into it.

“Come on, sugar. You have to try everything …”

A couple hours later you buy a closets worth of clothing and leave the store.

Seeing that (C/n) is absolutely drained you decide to take a stop at the food court.

Your son becomes rejuvenated at even the mere thought of food and excitedly pulls you along to a pizza spot.

After finishing almost an entire pizza you go to a more general store to buy some toiletries and kitchenware.

But on the way you pass by a specialty candy store and spot a very bright skeleton inside…

Oh, wait…

That’s Dream!

He’s one of the rarest Secret Love Interests in the game other than his brother Nightmare!

You see him looking at some candy apples before your son starts pulling you over to the candy shop.

Wait- wait!

You’re not sure if you’re ready for this!

But, it’s too late.

(C/n) is already looking at the homemade fudge and Dream is staring at you staring at him.

This is so awkward…

But Dream just gives you a radiant smile.

“Hello, I see your son is a fan of that fudge over there.”

You chuckle albeit somewhat nervously.

“Yeah… he’s always had a big sweet tooth since young.”

Dream gives you a nod before looking back at the candied apples.

“Actually, I’ve never been to this store- well this entire mall really… before. But, um. Would you recommend these…”

You raise a brow at him.

“Candy apples?”

Dream brightens.

“Yes, exactly!”

Well you had also never been here but you might as well earn some brownie points.

You take a look at the apples.

“Do you prefer chocolate or cinnamon more?”

Dream tilts his head before considering what you said.

“Cinnamon, I think.”

You hand him a box of red candy coated green apples.

“You’ll like these then.”

Dream looks down at the box before looking up at you with a bright smile.

“Thank you so much, Ma’am!”

He looks over at (C/n) who is eating way too many free samples.

“Ahem, I think you should probably stop your son before he has a sugar rush.”

You chuckle.

“Yeah, well see you around.”

You give him a wave before picking up your child and leaving the candy store.

You wipe chocolate off his face as he looks away guiltily.

“Sorry, Mama…”

You smile warmly at your son.

“What are you sorry for? I’m proud that my son is such a sneaky little thief!”

He laughs as you tickle him lightly.

When you stop you grab his hand and begin walking to store you had originally planned on going to.

You buy just the basic necessities like toilet paper, toothbrushes, pots and pans, and silverware.

It doesn’t take you long to get what you need from there before you quickly head out and go back to a map of the mall.

As you look for a furniture store on there your son suddenly points at a clothing store somewhat near one.

“You need clothes too, Mama!”

You look away with a slight grimace.

“Ah, right.”

(C/n) takes your hand and starts walking in the store's direction.

You groan internally but follow.

As you near the clothing store you bump (well technically) into a ghost monster.

“Oh! Oh no… I’m s-so sorry for bumping into you…”

You smile kindly at the ghost.

“It’s perfectly fine, hun. It was my fault anyway, I wasn’t looking where I was going.”

You watch as your son admires Napstablook.

He begins to reach out to touch him but stops when you give him a look.

Napstablook doesn’t seem to notice this small interaction as he keeps stammering.

“Oh, Blooky! Where did you go, Dear?”

Napstablook tenses a bit before looking in the direction of that fabulous voice.

“A-ah that’s my cousin calling… I better go back. S-sorry for bothering you… byeeee…”

“Bye, hun! Hope we meet again sometime.”

What a cute little ghost.

You do genuinely want to see him again.

You begrudgingly enter the clothing store.

The clothes are nice and all but you feel like shopping for yourself is so boring.

You mostly want shirts in purple, red, or gray and pants that are black, white, or gray.

You pick out many blouses, sweaters, and dress pants before (C/n) suddenly leads you over to an area with dresses.

He excitedly waits for you to pick some out so you decide to a get a couple, being formal or casual.

As you get ready for check out your son interrupts you by pointing at then changing rooms.

“Come on, Mama! Don’t you have to try everything too?”

He gives you a cheeky look with one of his hands on his hip.

You chuckle and give in as you try on all the clothes giving your son a little fashion show.

You try not to faint as you look at the G you have left after buying those clothes and march on to the furniture store.

Although most of the furniture was pretty high quality at this store, a lot of it was definitely overpriced.

Fortunately, (C/n)’s bed came in the box of “Son’s Stuff” so you only need to get one for yourself.

As you’re looking at prices for some dining table sets you feel a tap on your shoulder.

“excuse me, gorgeous~”

You turn around and find Sin (or Lusttale Sans) standing next to you.

“i just moved here with my brother and we’re looking for furniture but we don’t want to buy anything that is more than it’s worth. we weren’t sure if we should talk to a staff member until I saw your lovely~ self over here. i figured that you would know quality when you see it~”

He wears a charming smile and his voice, although friendly has an underlying tone of flirtation.

You would blush if you were of weaker will (not that you aren’t very flattered by Sin’s words).

(C/n) leans over from behind your legs to look at the skeleton.

“Who’s that, Mama?”

Sin’s eyesockets lightly widen in surprise before he looks at your son sweetly.

“my name is Sin, little dear.”

He looks back up at you.

“my apologies for bothering you when you are already preoccupied with your child.”

You smile softly at Sin.

“It’s alright, hun. I would love to help you some time though.”

You take out your phone and hold it out to him.

“Feel free to contact me when you need help, if you would like. Oh, and I wouldn’t recommend shopping here, practically everything is overpriced.”

Sin certainly looks surprised but then wears a genuine smile.

“thanks, gorgeous. i’ll keep that in mind. take care of your mother, little dear, she’s a good one.”

Your son eagerly nods.

“Nice meeting you, Mr. Sin!”

As Sin saunters away he just gives a wave from behind.

You do hope to meet him again.

After that nice little meeting you finally buy some nice furniture for a good price.

You head back to the cabin and quickly fix up some dinner before having (C/n) get ready for bed.

You read your son a bedtime story and give him a kiss goodnight. 

You take a look at your System before going to bed.

That night you don't sleep (definitely not out of paranoia) because you decide to write a journal about everything you remember about Lonely Souls.

Oak may have been one of your favorites in the game but that doesn't mean he's not dangerous. 

His romantic and platonic routes are very sweet but his bad ends are some of the goriest. 

But, Oak isn't likely to attack you for no reason. 

You need to make sure you stock up on food for your new friends…

Back to the journal.

Judging from how you started out this is most likely Normal mode.

In Easy mode you start out as friends with all the main Love Interests and live with them. Your stats with them are pretty good so it's easy to get an ending from there. Most of the time people play easy mode for something nice after facing a lot of bad endings. 

With Normal Mode you're a stranger to the main Love Interests but they’re more willing to be friendly with you. The relationships stats are mediocre but they start in the positives. To add a challenge there are required Quests.

In Hard Mode you are also a stranger to the Love Interests but you tend to start with negative relationship stats and they are more distrusting. The Antagonist is also added to make the game harder.

But then… there's Extreme Mode. In Extreme mode you ARE the Antagonist so your relationship stats start in the heavy negatives and all the main Love Interests hate you. Extreme mode would have you raging whenever you died from the littlest mistake. But… it does unlock the harem route. Although you were never able to complete it due to how difficult it was.

The System said that your objective is to complete a route in every mode so… you’re going to have to do one in Extreme Mode.

You let out a groan.

You’ve never completed a single route in Extreme Mode, you’re the least experienced with it.

You bite your lip anxiously, you’ll just have to really prepare for it you suppose.

You sigh and quickly right down all the Love Interests names.

You’re mind wanders back to Extreme Mode

"Hey, System."

'Yes, Player?'

"Do Items transfer across games?"

'Yes Items, Currency, and Skills transfer. However, Stats do not. They will just reset to their original state once you start a new game.'

You hum. 

Perhaps you can stock up on Items before going into Extreme Mode.

You've decided that you were going to try pursuing Dream for this run.

You never actually played through his route yourself as you weren't able to encounter him but you had seen a couple of playthroughs of it.

It was pretty exciting to be able to meet him so early in your run so you must seize this rare opportunity to date him.

He was a pretty interesting character in Lonely Souls so you're sure this will be fun. (although his high Obsession from just your first meeting is a tad worrisome)

The question really is how will you find him again?

Just because you saw him once didn't mean you were guaranteed to constantly meet him.

You note down places you remember Dream frequenting in the game after his Profile was unlocked.

You should start at one of those places and hopefully get his number…

If romancing Dream doesn't work out Sin or Mutt were also good options.

Jotting down all your thoughts actually made you somewhat relaxed.

At the very least you were relaxed enough to go to sleep (while tightly clutching Mother's Knife in hand)

….

The next morning you head out to (C/n)'s new school to sign some paperwork and see if he needs a uniform. 

The process is pretty fast and you only have to pay a couple G for a kit that comes with everything your son needs. 

Not expecting your errand to have finished so fast you now have some free time. 

As you leave the school you run into Toriel and Frisk. 

"Oh my, hello."

You look at Toriel before giving her a cheery grin.

"Hi, nice to meet you. I'm (Y/n) and this is my son, (C/n)."

Toriel’s face softens.

"Ah, it is lovely to meet you as well. This is Frisk and I am their mother Toriel. Would you happen to be enrolling (C/n) into this school?"

You give Frisk a wave before looking back up at Toriel.

"I am, he’s going to 5th grade this year. Are you enrolling Frisk here?"

Toriel becomes excited.

"Frisk will also be entering 5th grade this year! I do hope they get to see (C/n) around as he seems to be such a lovely child."

The two of you chatter for a bit before trading numbers and planning a lunch together later today.

…

You go back home and do some cleaning around the house (C/n) goes to his room to take a nap.

While you were cleaning the attic you found a strange crate tucked into the corner.

You open it up…

You're pretty sure the Eye Ring didn't exist in the game (although it does sound useful in your current circumstances) but the Golden Wine is an amazing item!

You now search the attic for any more crates but sadly find none.

You decide to take a break with a disappointed sigh.

You laze about during your break and check your System.

You swiftly jump off of the couch when you hear some rustling from your kitchen.

You take out your Mother's Knife as you quietly approach the source of the sound.

You enter the kitchen…

And see Oak hunched over the counter stuffing his face with your leftover burgers.

You put away your knife and wait for him to notice you.

…

Either he already knows you're there or he's really just too busy eating.

“Ahem.”

Oak tenses up and quickly turns his head towards you.

A bit of ketchup drips from his teeth making a very interesting image.

The two of you awkwardly stare at each other until you sigh slightly amused.

“You can just ask next time. I always make too much food.”

He wipes his teeth with his sleeve before he straightens up and holds his hand out to you.

“‘m Oak.”

You look at his greasy hand with mild disgust but still grab his it lightly and give a firm shake to avoid offending him.

“(Y/n). You must be my neighbor right? The real estate agent told me a bit about you and your brother.”

The agent actually didn't mention them at all (because he would never have been able to sell the property otherwise) but it's easier to say that as a reason why you know them.

He nods slowly.

"pretty calm for someone that's met a big spooky scary skeleton in the middle of your kitchen."

You look down at him.

“Mm. You look less scary and more like a giant teddy bear."

Oak looks stunned by your remark.

"Besides, this isn't the worst meeting I've had with a skeleton. Oh, you should bring your brother around some time. I'll make the two of you dinner."

Oak shoves his hands in his pockets.

"surprised you ain't a Kindness soul, treat. aight, me and my bro will come by tomorrow."

He looks like he's about to leave but he looks back at you.

"those burgs were good by the way, almost as nice as your buns ."

He winks and shortcuts away.

You know that cute little fucker did not just pun you about your ass.

You huff, and start to get ready for lunch with Toriel and Frisk.

…

You decided to make fried chicken with baked mac and cheese. 

(C/n) sits at the table coloring wheel you work.

You already had the chicken in a buttermilk brine so you begin to heat up the oil.

As you wait for that you prepare the mac.

You use colby jack, mild, and sharp cheddar cheese. 

You throw in some velveeta as well. 

You put it all in a pan with colby jack and breadcrumbs on top. 

You wait to put it in the oven until you start frying the chicken.

After testing the oil temperature you see that it needs more time so you decide to make dessert.

You weren't a big baker so you just looked for some cake box mix. 

You’ll serve it with the tub of chocolate ice cream you have in the freezer. 

You quickly mix the batter and put it in the oven before you begin adding chicken to the pot of hot oil.

As the chicken fries you put the mac and cheese in the oven below the cake.

By the time you finish everything up you get a text from Toriel.

You walk outside and see her pull up. 

Frisk hops out of the car and runs to you.

*Hi, Ms. (Y/n)!*

You pick Frisk up when they leap into you.

"Hey, kiddo. How are you doin?"

They begin to tell you about their day as you walk inside still holding them. 

Toriel catches up with the two of you. 

You put Frisk in a chair next to your son. You notice that Toriel holds a pie in her hands.

"I hope you don't mind that I brought cinnamon butterscotch pie."

You smile warmly.

"Not at all, Tori."

You take the pie from her and put it on the counter.

Toriel then tries to help you with serving but you won't have it.

"Nope, you're a guest. Which means you need to sit and let the hosts take care of you. Right, (C/n)?"

Your son nods.

"Mhm, sit over here Ms. Tori!"

You can practically see Toriel's heart melt and she ends up sitting down. 

You bring the food over to the table and set it down. 

You serve the kids first, then Toriel and yourself. 

The cake still sits in the oven baking as you all eat. 

You listen to the kids idly chat with each other before asking Toriel what happened at the last PTA meeting. 

She groans and spills all the tea about Helen.

It sounds like you need to go to these PTA meetings since (C/n) is starting school in a couple of days anyways.

Once the main course is finished you bring over the desserts. 

Before the kids can go at it you serve them careful portions so they don't eat too much sugar before bed. 

After you all finish up Toriel and Frisk head out with promises of visiting again.

When they leave you have your son get ready to go to daycare.

…

You drop (C/n) off at daycare and get ready for work. 

…

You enter Grillby's and find two skeletons sitting at the bar. (well one of them was standing actually)

It seems like Sans and Black are arguing about something. 

You get behind the bar and serve Sans a ketchup.

"Everything alright here, boys?"

Sans and Black look at you in surprise. 

Black sighs in frustration.

"My Apologies If We Were Disrupting The Peace. I Was Trying To Talk To Sans About Something Important But He Keeps Avoiding It."

Sans’s eyesockets narrow at Black.

"geez, air out all our business to the human will ya, Black?"

Black crosses his arms and looks at Sans with a sneer.

"Well Maybe This Wouldn't Be Necessary If You Could Talk To Me Like A Proper Fucking Adult."

Sans's smile twitches downward and he just disappears. 

Black rubs his nasal ridge with a scowl.

"What A Goddamn Baby."

You give Black a sympathetic look

"Seems like it."

Black looks up at you clearly tired but still keeping himself composed as he takes a seat at the bar.

"What Would You Recommend, Bartender?"

You think for a moment.

"How about a Blackberry Malt?"

Black nods, you mix the whiskey and blackberries before topping it with sparkling water and a hint of lime juice. 

You pour him the drink and watch as he tastes it. 

His eyesockets widen in surprise as a delightful smile curls on his face.

He coughs awkwardly when he notices you staring at him.

“It Is A Fine Drink, Bartender… Thank You. You May Find Me Coming Here Again.”

You smile warmly and give him a polite nod before you begin serving other customers.

Grillby comes out to take the bartop for you and you hit the floor. 

You take orders and prepare them until the end of your shift. 

Black is gone by then but you can tell you had lifted his spirits.

You pick your son up from daycare and bring him home in your arms. 

You lay him to bed as you check your phone.

Hey guys, sorry it's not a chapter. 

(But you can expect one real soon, possibly even later tonight depending on how long my Adderall lasts)

I just had a couple of ideas for some stories I would like to write after I finish my current rewrites.

(You have fallen underground while you were exploring Mt. Ebott. Unfortunately, the Royal Scientist found you and brought you to his lab to be used in his experiments. Your prison is right across from these two little skeletons that also seem to be his experiments. As you grow up and suffer through so much pain at the hands of Gaster you eventually escape with the skeletons. You all learn to survive the Underground together and live somewhat comfortably at least until you're thrown into a different universe. One much softer than your own… and you're on the surface?!)

It doesn't take you long to realize that there's something seriously wrong with her but will you be able to convince your new family of it?)

Now you all live in hiding and are restricted in getting… “meals”. At the very least you're stupidly rich… just bored out of your mind. At least that's until you sign up for a monster housing program and a gaggle of skeletons move in with you. Looks like things are getting interesting…)

Chapter Text

You get out of bed to make some breakfast. 

Not long after you hear your son walk in. 

He drowsily comes to hug your waist while holding a narwhal blanket you had specially made for him.

"Morning, munchkin."

(C/n) mumbles a bit.

"Good morning, Mama."

He crawls into a seat at the table and you serve him some pancakes with eggs. 

You sit across from him and start to eat. 

Of course not until after leaving an extra plate out for Oak.

You don’t have much to do today, just buy a car and get gardening supplies so you can hopefully start the garden today.

Oh, and (C/n) has a playdate with Frisk this afternoon.

Although you originally planned on going to the mall you decided that visiting the local outlet strip mall would be a little more interesting for your son.

He hadn’t gotten the opportunity to go to one back home since there weren’t any in your city.

But, you do plan on stopping by the car dealership first.

"You ready to go, honey?"

Your son nods enthusiastically as he follows you out the house. 

The way to the dealership is a bit of a walk but you need a car more than anything.

When you finally get there you have a bit of trouble deciding what to buy.

Although a used car is cheaper you don’t know what kind of problems it might have so you ultimately get a new black Chevrolet.

You begrudgingly fork over the 80 G and take the keys from the satisfied looking salesman.

You set up (C/n)’s carseat in the back and turn on the small TV screen embedded in the back of the front seat.

You drive off with your pockets lighter but you’re happy to finally be off of your feet.

…

You get to the strip mall and pray to the stars that you don’t meet any damn skeletons.

You quickly head to a gardening outlet first and acquire a cart.

You mostly grab seeds for winter flowers and fruits before you grab basic gardening tools. (and if you get a couple cute decorations as well then who’s to judge you?)

You let (C/n) wander around a bit as you make your purchase.

…

As you leave you notice your son eyeing an arts & crafts store so you begin leading him to it.

(C/n) looks so excited he’s practically vibrating in place once you enter the store.

When you give him the okay he runs off taking a look at every inch the store has to offer as you grab a basket and follow behind him.

You end up leaving with some expensive colored pencils, sketch pads, watercolors, paintbrushes, and a couple of blank canvases.

He even picked out some sticker books themed around aquatic life. 

You keep in mind that you should take (C/n) to the aquarium sometime.

While walking through the strip mall you notice a quaint little tea house, it almost seems familiar.

…!

You suddenly connect the dots and remember that Dream frequents this place in the game.

You might have a pretty good chance of meeting him there.

You look down at your son who’s sifting through his bag of art supplies.

“Hey, do you want to visit that tea shop over there, hun?”

(C/n) stares at the shop as he considers it before looking at you.

“Will they have hot cocoa?”

You chuckle.

“I’m sure they will, angel.”

Your son smiles and eagerly pulls you toward the shop.

As you walk in you don’t see Dream at first. No. You feel him.

Positivity just radiates off of his being as you see him grab his Matcha Milk Tea with a smile.

When he turns around he quickly notices you and practically bounds up to where you stand like a golden retriever.

“Hi, Miss! It’s good to see you again!”

You smile warmly.

“It’s a pleasure as well…?”

Dream tilts his head in confusion before giving himself a face palm.

“My name! Duh. I’m Dream!”

He holds his hand out to you and you give it a firm shake.

“(Y/n) and this is my son (C/n).”

Dream looks down at (C/n) beaming.

“I see you’re not face first in a bowl of chocolate this time, huh?”

Your son blushes lightly in embarrassment.

Wanting to get the attention off of him you quickly change the topic.

“Never thought I would see you around here, Sunshine. Are you a fan of milk tea?”

You see Dream’s skull flush with a golden yellow when he hears your nickname for him (only furthering the reason for it).

He stammers a bit before he composes himself.

“U-uh, ahem. I actually come here everyday! It’s my favorite tea house in Ebott City.”

Your eyes narrow in amusement as you give him a sly look.

“Oh, really? I suppose I’ll have to become a regular here so I can see someone as brilliant as you everyday.”

Dream is obviously not used to being flirted with as his blush only grows brighter.

He fans at his face as if it would make the heat from his cheeks go away.

“Y- you’re too much! I’m really not that great… ”

You gently take his gloved hand in yours and give him a warm smile.

“Don’t doubt yourself like that, Sunshine. If I can already see how amazing you are from just our second meeting, imagine how much greater you’ll be to me the more we get to know each other.”

Dream doesn’t seem to understand the implications of what you said as he quietly thanks you.

As he stares down at the milk tea in his hand he suddenly jumps as if he realized something.

“Oh, no! I’m so sorry you haven’t even bought anything yet!”

He keeps holding your hand and leads you to the front counter.

“Do you know what you want?”

You hum.

“I’m not sure actually but (C/n) wants hot cocoa.”

Dream lightly laughs.

“I see that your son is truly a fan of chocolate… Why don’t I pick something out for you? I’m sure you’ll like it!”

You smile and nod a bit.

“Go ahead, I trust you.”

You wouldn’t even trust this skeleton as far as you could throw him.

Actually… you could probably throw him pretty far when you think about it…

You’ll have to find another expression.

Dream beams with delight and makes an order for you and your son. (he tries to hide how he freaks out when he realizes he was holding your hand this entire time, how cute)

He has you sit down at a table near a window as he waits for your drinks.

You stare out the window and admire the bustling sidewalks of the strip mall.

You then look at (C/n) to see him intensely drawing… you wonder what it could be?

But you decide to give him his privacy as you continue to wait for Dream.

Eventually he excitedly (but carefully) jogs over with two drinks in hand.

He places the hot cocoa in front of your son who is too busy drawing to notice it before Dream then gives you your drink.

You stare at it questioningly and then look up at Dream.

“What is this?”

Dream just smiles knowingly as he sits down next to you.

“It’s a surprise! You’ll have to try it to find out!”

You raise a brow at him before you grab your straw and stab it through the top of the cup.

You take a sip of the drink…

It tastes like chocolate and cream… it’s good.

You hum in appreciation and Dream watches happily.

“It’s Oreo Milk Tea with Brown Sugar Boba. Something about you told me you would like it.”

You smile warmly at Dream.

“Well I suppose you were right then. I’ve never actually had milk tea with boba before. I usually just get green tea from these kinds of places.”

Dream lets out a mocking gasp.

“How could you! I’ll just have to get you every kind of milk tea then.”

You chuckle.

“I’ll hold you to that.”

You quickly check at your phone with disappointment.

You’ll have to leave if you want to get through your plans for today.

With a sigh you look at Dream.

“Unfortunately, I’m a little busy so as much as I would love to sit here and chat with you I must go.”

Your son seems to have heard you as he packs his things up and takes a sip of his hot cocoa.

Dream almost frowns at what you said but hides it well.

However, he can’t mask his disappointment from your perceptive eyes.

You open up your contacts app on your phone and hold it out to him.

“You should give me your number. I think it would be nice to see each other more often.”

Dream looks surprised with his eyesockets wide before he quickly (but gently) takes your phone and adds in his number.

When he gives it back to you, you change his contact name and shoot him a quick text.

Sunshine and Milk Tea:

Enjoyed our little date. Hope you’ll let me take you on another one ;)

You quickly pocket your phone and wave him bye just barely seeing his adorable blush when he reads your text.

“Bye, Mr. Dream!”

(C/n) follows you with his drink in hand and you head to your car. (after a bit of a struggle looking for it)

You head home excited to start your garden (and impatiently waiting for Dream’s text) while your son draws in his new sketch pad in the backseat. 

When you arrive at your home you bring everything inside and change into some clothes you don’t mind getting dirty.

(C/n) just works on his sketch while watching cartoons in the living room as you head to the backyard.

…

You begin pulling up weeds and decide to get some questions answered while you have the time.

"Hey, System."

'Yes, Player?'

"I have a couple questions for you."

'Alright, I will answer what I can.'

"How do you successfully complete a route?"

'Just like you did in the original game. Full Love and full Relationship stats.'

"What happens at the end of a route?"

'You get an ending scene and you will receive a screen with your Final Score before the world is reset. The points from your Final Score will be exchanged for Gems.'

Final Score?

That didn’t exist in Lonely Souls.

“What affects my Final Score?”

‘There are many factors like, the risks you take, the difficulty and/or rarity of the Love Interest you pursue, and even the friends you make can increase your score. On the other hand, the amount of deaths you experience, your negative relationships or enemies, and negligence of your son can all decrease your score. I do not mean to imply you will neglect your son but some other Players who had family/friends brought with them as encouragement can tend to forget about them as they try to complete the game.’

The System must have seen the look you were giving it when it had mentioned negligence…

But, this is good to know although you feel like the System should have mentioned these things without you having to ask.

You move on to preparing the garden beds.

"What happens after I finish the final route?"

'There will be a final reset and you will decide your own fate from there. Whether you move to another city or keep romancing skeletons is all your choice. There will be no more quests nor System and your items will no longer have any magical effects.'

Dating those skeletons without help sounds pretty hard.

‘I forgot to mention that the skeletons will no longer have the negative quirks they are given to make the game more interesting so it is very unlikely that you will die.’

Okay, that’s better. Not that you’re really sure if you’ll want to date any of them after what you might go through.

"Will anyone remember what happened in a previous route after a reset?"

'Yes, one Love Interest you encountered will have vague memories of the previous route. The more you are around them the more they are likely to remember.'

You hum before quickly reeling your hand back from a Copperhead that slinks up from a hole you had just made in the dirt.

You take out Mother’s Knife and cleanly slice its head off.

You smile as you pick up the carcass.

You might make snake jerky for Oak and Willow with this, you’d say it’s about 3 feet long so it should be a nice snack.

You get back to your questions after you safely wrap up the Copperhead carcass.

"Is there a time limit to completing a route?"

'No. However I wouldn't recommend taking too long as you may start to receive quests you would not enjoy completing.'

"What happens if I die? And what would happen to my son?"

'If you die you will be reset to 24 hours before your death. As for your son, he also remembers resets so I suggest you don't expire in front of him as I am sure that would be a traumatic experience. He will also end up wherever he was 24 hours before your death.'

That's… not very comforting.

Ah… there’s one thing you haven’t considered even if you don’t want to think about it…

“What- what if my son were to die?”

‘(C/n) is only a guest character so if he were to die he would remain dead unless the world were to reset from your own death. However, if (C/n) were to die right before a reset at the end of a route he would be permanently dead.’

…

You try not to panic and keep your breath nice and slow.

In and out.

It’s fine.

Everything’s okay because (C/n) will not die.

Because you are DETERMINED for him to live no matter what.

“Would it be possible for (C/n) to use game Items?”

‘... Please allow me to speak to management about this...’

‘...’

‘...’

‘Yes, it is possible for a guest character to use certain Items. I will have them labeled for your convenience.’

You sigh in relief.

You’ll have to look through your items later and give him something useful.

"Is there some kind of shop like the one in the game?"

'Yes, but it can only be unlocked after your first route and you will also gain access to the 'Gem' currency you use in the shop.'

"Can I let anyone know about my situation?"

'You could if you would like, Player. But not many would be likely to believe you.'

You stop digging in the dirt so you can quickly get everything written down.

"Alright, that's it for now."

'Good luck, Player.'

With all the weeds pulled and the planting beds prepared you begin sowing the seeds.

The fruits have a large middle area while the flowers are lined up along the sides of your fence.

As for your ancient seeds you just give them a small plot away from the main area as they only take 3 days to grow.

…

You check the time and see that you have about 1 hour until (C/n)’s playdate.

With the garden done you pat dirt off yourself and head inside to wash up.

You prepare a couple of BLTs and call for (C/n) to come downstairs since you couldn’t find him in the living room.

It seems that he was already getting prepared as he’s fully dressed and carries his backpack.

“I saw you working out there, Mama. I can’t wait for everything to grow!”

You smile warmly and have him sit at the table to eat.

…

As soon as he finishes his sandwich you drive out to the park.

You quickly find Toriel and Frisk near the playground and (C/n) runs off to play with his friend.

"They seem to get along well."

Toriel nods.

"Yes, I am so glad. Frisk has not managed to make many friends their age."

"Really? They seem so friendly."

Toriel looks somberly to the side.

"Well not all children are raised to like monsters or to accept all genders. Frisk is often treated like an outsider both for being gender neutral and the monster ambassador."

"What about monster children?"

"...They tend to idolize them rather than see them as a friend."

"I see. (C/n) also has a hard time making friends."

Toriel looks at you in surprise.

"How so?"

Your expression becomes a little solemn.

"He's a Patient Soul, he tends to go with the flow. Some kids get upset when he doesn't pick a side or make a decision since he doesn't feel strongly about it. It doesn't help that we tend to move quite a bit. But I intend to stay here at least long enough for him to get through high school."

You stretched the truth about the moving bit but he did lose all his old friends. 

You can tell he misses them even if he won't voice it to you.

Both you and Toriel sigh but then smile as you see how the two kids are having fun. 

The two of you chat until it hits 4pm. 

You let Toriel know you have work and she offers to babysit (C/n) instead of having you drop him off at daycare. 

You happily accept and tell her that next time Frisk should stay at your place.

Your son seems happy to have a sleepover with Frisk and they grin excitedly. 

…

You wave them off and head to Grillby's.

When you enter the bar you don't find any skeletons waiting for you this time and sigh in relief. 

You mostly worked in the kitchen for the first 2 hours when Grillby suddenly came in urgently.

He stands before you with a serious air about him.

“I need you… to watch the bar for me. My daughter twisted her ankle and I have to pick her up for school. You may need to close up by yourself.”

You give Grillby a reassuring smile.

“Leave it to me, Boss. Take care of your daughter and don't come back until she's alright!”

Grillby “smiles” and thank you before quickly rushing off.

When you exit the kitchen you see…

Sin?

You didn't even know he went to Grillby’s.

You walk up to him and he barely looks up as he nurses a glass of whiskey.

But when he realizes it’s you he quickly straightens up with a slightly nervous look.

“h- hey, gorgeous! you uh… come here often?”

Sin smiles awkwardly having been caught so off guard.

You chuckle.

“Just started working here actually. It's nice to see you around, sugar. You haven't called me yet so I was getting worried~”

Sin lightly flushes.

“a-ah, i was just a bit busy but i didn't mean to ignore you or anything!”

You laugh sweetly making the poor skeleton calm down.

“What would you like to drink, sugar? Surely you don't want to just hold onto that whiskey all night.”

Sin looks relieved at the change of topic.

“whatever you recommend, gorgeous.”

You hum and begin fixing him a French Martini.

You shake the vodka with the pineapple juice and raspberry liquor before gracefully pouring it into a martini glass with a chunk of pineapple to decorate the rim.

You figured that something simple yet tasty would be best for Sin.

You slide him the drink and watch his reaction.

He seems pleased at the look of the pink cocktail and takes a sip of it.

He licks his teeth (using his purple ecto tongue that you have very respectful thoughts about) with a satisfied smile.

“it's delicious, gorgeous. thank you.”

You give him a nod.

“Just be sure to call me sometime, I won't wait forever~”

You move to take care of other customers but do notice the blush that returns to Sin's face.

Sin eventually leaves but makes sure to let you know and thanks you again for the drink.

You wave him off and continue working the bar.

Another skeleton pops in and it's the one that you expected to see more often, Red. 

You internally scream before walking over to him.

"What would you like?"

Red eyes you up and down with an appreciative look.

"i'm thinking I want you tonight, sweetcheeks."

You try not to grimace.

"I'm not on the menu nor am I available. Now, what would you like, sir ?"

Red chuckles.

"playing hard to get huh? i can play that game. i'll take a mustard and a burg."

You get him a mustard and go into the kitchen to quickly make his burger. 

After you finish serving him you don't bother to entertain him anymore.

You hear Red try to call out to you but he is quickly interrupted by a phone call.

You distantly hear him getting yelled at by a familiar voice as he scowls and teleports away.

Finally, you don’t have to deal with him anymore.

Red can actually be a sweet guy but in every game of Lonely Souls the Love Interests personalities can slightly vary.

Like with Red for example one of his traits is “Flirty” but this trait can be increased and become “Aggressively Flirty” which is most likely what happened to the Red you have right now.

Maybe you should write down in your journal all the possible personality changes so you can try to watch out for them…

You finish your shift and close the bar in a good mood.

You pick your son up from Toriel's and lay him to bed after singing him his favorite lullaby.

Before you go to your room you stop by the kitchen to quickly skin and cut up the Copperhead before you let the meat marinate overnight.

You then finally head to your own room and check out your System.

The mixology skill is only really useful as long as you work at Grillby’s but you still have a long way to go in this route so it’ll probably help.

The alchemy however is very exciting, you just planted the ancient seeds and now you can be less worried about wasting them in failed craft attempts!

But you do need to find that shop since you don’t have access to the Game Shop just yet…

You would have preferred Deception over Persuasion but it works out for your needs too.

But, you could only imagine having both Persuasion and Deception, you would be unstoppable!

Oh! You remember using the Cursed Talisman on the Antagonist in one of your runs.

It helped drive them away to make completing the game easier… and it was hilarious! (maybe you have a sick sense of humor if you think the Antagonist have uncontrollable diarrhea in front of their skeleton crushes is funny… and the time they were chased by a horde of wasps and were stung until you couldn’t even recognize them anymore… and when they were caught cursing out the Royal Monster Family on live Mettaton TV, although that one wasn’t that bad, other than being ousted by all of monster kind…)

Ahem.

But, you do hope you won’t need to use the Detox Juice just yet. 

It would probably be better for Extreme Mode as quite a few of the bad endings involve poison or drugging…

Trying to forget that thought you take a look at your Random Stat Books and decide to save them for your next run.

The only problem is that you can't really remember most of them.

The traits weren't that important in the game; it was just something you had to be cautious about.

Feeling exhausted from all that writing you almost fall asleep as soon as you put your journal down.

But, your thirst is more important than sleeping.

You drowsily exit your room and immediately notice the large object wrapped in cloth in front of your door.

You cautiously look around your surroundings before you kneel down and carefully lift the cloth…

It’s just meat.

You think it’s… deer? (hopefully)

This must be the gift Oak had wanted to get you.

You smile lightly.

It’s a very thoughtful present especially since you know what food means to Oak.

You pick up the hefty piece of meat and head down to the kitchen.

You'll make dinner for Oak and Willow with it.

At first you think about making them a hearty stew but Willow can probably already make a very good venison stew himself.

It’s a hard toss up between venison bolognese or venison burgers but you ultimately decide on the bolognese since you think Willow would like it more. (Oak would eat it anyways)

You place the meat in the freezer before you look around the rest of your house to make sure no one was there.

When you're sure that you're safe you grab a glass of water and head back to your room to sleep.

You wake up to see a notification from your System above your head.

You get punished for not sleeping right?!

You let out a groan in frustration.

That's bullshit.

You have to go a whole day like this.

Who knows what might happen?

You let out a frustrated groan.

Whatever. There isn't much you can do for now.

You need to get your son ready for his first day at school. (Oh, and your first day working at Muffet's)

You get up with a stretch, hearing the satisfying pips of your spine.

You knock on your son's door and hear a loud thump from inside the room.

Feeling worried you quickly let yourself in.

“Are you alright, honey?”

You see your son on the floor trapped in his blankets.

Ah. He must have fallen out of bed.

You help him out of his blankets and stand him up.

Drool smears the side of his face and he's barely able to open his eyes as he tries to wake up.

You chuckle softly and ruffle your son's fluffy hair.

“It's time for school, sweetie. It's your first day!”

(C/n)’s eyes shoot open and he suddenly looks wide awake.

“I need to get ready! Thanks for waking me up, Mama!”

He quickly hurries over to his closet, almost tripping over his blankets in his rush.

You shake your head fondly and make your way to the kitchen.

You start to make your son's favorite, waffles and bacon.

As the waffles cook you quickly pack him a lunch and some snacks.

You leave them on the counter so he can put it in his backpack when he gets down to the kitchen.

You finish up breakfast and place it at the table.

You then grab the marinating snake meat and get it in the oven.

It should be fully dried by the time you get back home from work.

You make sure to prop the oven door open with a wooden spoon to help with the air flow.

Hopefully Oak won't come by since you know if he smells the meat he won't wait for it to finish before eating it.

You take a look at the time and it's still early so you're not in much of a rush.

But, (C/n) is still getting ready so you decide to do the same.

You grab a dark gray blouse and black jeans before you hop in the shower.

You make it a quick wash and get dressed after brushing your teeth.

You do your hair and pull it back with a purple headband that matches the color scheme of Muffet's.

You stop by your son's room to see if he's still getting ready but it seems he's already downstairs.

Instead of seeing (C/n) at the table eating, he's (C/n) shoving his lunch bag into a very full turtle shaped backpack.

You grin with amusement.

“What did you put in there, love? Your entire room?”

Your son shakes his head in the negative.

“It's all my stuff for school and some art thingies.”

He looks up at you after he gets his lunch in the bag.

“Thank you for packing my lunch, Mama. I'm ready to go!”

(C/n) stands with his chest puffed out and his hands on his hips.

You let out a light laugh.

“You need to have breakfast first, dear. You won't have the energy you need for today if you don't eat.”

Your son deflates a bit as he realizes he forgot to eat but he quickly perks back up as he runs to his seat at the table and begins to chow down.

You chide him lightly to slow down and give him a glass of water.

You begin to eat as well before you finally head out to the car.

It takes a while to get to (C/n)’s school but you make it with enough time for (C/n) to interact with his peers for a bit.

You give your son a big hug before letting him run off to get inside the school building.

After making sure that he's all the way inside you drive off to Muffet’s.

“I demand that you give me my refund! I obviously ordered a spider muffin and you gave me a spider donut!”

You forgot how much you hated customers like these.

Your shift at Muffet's had been going well until this buffoon decided to make a scene to get money that he isn't owed back.

He's claiming to have gotten the wrong pastry and wants a full refund.

But he had already eaten the spider donut despite allegedly “not ordering” it and coincidentally doesn't have his receipt.

You keep your customer service smile on as you speak to the rowdy customer.

“I'm sorry, sir but I'm afraid I can't give you a refund. You have already eaten the donut and you don't have a receipt.”

The man's face becomes red.

“Get me your manager! You clearly don't know what you're doing!”

You avoid leaping over the counter and throttling his neck as you tell him you'll do so and head to the back.

You find Muffet in the kitchen mixing some sort of batter.

“Excuse me, Muffet. There's a customer that has asked to see you. He wants a refund.”

Muffet turns to me with an indescribable look on her face.

“A refund? Well then I must talk to this man. I hope you haven't disappointed me on your first day, Dearie.~”

She heads out of the kitchen and over to the front counter with you following behind her.

The man looks impatient as he waits for Muffet and almost smirks when he notices the two of you approach.

“My apologies for any misunderstandings with my employee, sir. She has just started today and is still learning the ropes.”

The man huffs and rolls his eyes.

“I could tell. She gave me something I didn't order and I want a full refund for the inconvenience!”

Muffet's as narrow but she puts on a kind smile as she speaks.

“Oh, well that's something I can do for you. All I need is your receipt and the incorrect item.”

The customer crosses his arms and you see a bead of sweat forming on his forehead.

“Well I don't have my receipt with me and I ate the spider donut because I thought I had ordered it. But I remember ordering a spider muffin instead. It shouldn't matter whether I have the receipt or not anyways. You should trust the words of a loyal customer.”

Muffet's hands that were clasped together tighten but her expression doesn't change.

“I must apologize then. I can not give you a refund based on nothing. For all I know you might not have ordered anything at all.”

The man looks upset and his fists clench.

“How dare you! I paid for a muffin and I should rightfully receive compensation for your mistake! I'll have you know I have 500 followers on Wail and they will never eat here again if I tell them about this!”

Muffet crosses her arms.

“There is unfortunately nothing I can do, sir. If you are going to continue causing a ruckus then I must ask you to leave.”

The man scowls.

“Fine! But you are going to regret this! I will make sure that your store is run into the ground!”

He storms off and tries to slam the door but fails miserably as they close behind him slowly.

Muffet lets out a “tsk” before looking at you.

“I am sorry about that, Dearie, but you did well. It's time for your break anyways. I'll take over for you.”

You take a look at the time with surprise.

You hadn't realized you had been working for so long.

“Thanks, Muffet. See you in 15.”

She waves you off as you take a seat in the kitchen.

As you relax and check your phone you decide to shoot Dream a text message.

Sunshine and Milk Tea:

You up for a date today?

You don't expect him to text back for a while so you move to check Chirper but then you quickly get a message.

Sunshine and Milk Tea:

I'd love to!

What time?

What should I wear?

Where are we going?

You chuckle as you see the flood of questions coming from Dream.

Sunshine and Milk Tea:

3pm

Just wear something comfortable and the place is a surprise

You scored a date with Dream already.

Maybe it'll be easier to date that cutie than you thought.

But his Obsession is a pretty big problem…

Right before the end of your break you order a custom bouquet of flowers that will be ready for you to pick up before your date.

You get back to work in a better mood than before.

As soon as your shift ends you rush home to get ready.

Before you get dressed you quickly check on the snake jerky.

It's perfectly dried and fortunately uneaten.

You take the jerky out of the oven and get it into a plastic container.

You set it to the side and hurry upstairs to your bedroom.

You pick out a navy blue sundress with a white flower pattern on it and some wedged sandals.

You wear some light make up and add some silver jewelry to accessorize.

Wanting to prepare a second gift for your date you had back downstairs to the kitchen.

You quickly mix together batter for some brown sugar cinnamon cookies.

You throw the dough in the oven and leave it to bake.

You have a bit of extra time on your hands so you start to grab some extra things for the date.

But, then you hear a loud sound from your garden.

You pop your head out the door to the backyard and see a lanky skeleton trying to fix one of your decorative statues that he must have knocked over.

That's definitely Willow, however you notice that he's by himself.

You had thought that Oak was going to bring him to see you but perhaps Willow had gotten impatient.

He doesn't notice you so you swiftly go back to your kitchen and grab the snake jerky.

When you make your way back outside you find Willow admiring your garden but he hears your footsteps and turns toward you.

Shock and a bit of guilt shows on his face but you just give him a warm smile.

“You're Oak's brother right? Willow?”

The skeleton nods with a slightly worried look.

“Yes, I see my brother has already made quite the impression. A good one I hope?”

You chuckle.

“It certainly wasn't the worst way to meet someone. Ah!”

You remember the jerky in your hands and hold it out to the skeleton.

“Here. I made some snake jerky for the two of you. I do hope you enjoy it.”

Willow softly looks down at the jerky as he takes it from you, a bright smile graces his face.

“Thank you. We truly appreciate it… Oh. Y- You look very pretty. Are you going out?”

Your heart!

How can such a skeleton look so sweet?

You take a quick look at the time on your phone as you answer him.

“Yes, I have a date- Crap. I need to get going but you and your brother are welcome to have dinner with me tomorrow!”

You practically leave Willow in the dust as you run back inside.

Why does this date matter to you so much anyways?

Sure it's the first date you've had in a long time but it's not like you actually care about Dream… right?

You shake off your wandering thoughts and get the cookies out of the oven.

You place them in your bag as you make sure you aren't forgetting anything and hop in the car.

You make sure to pick up the flowers before you get to the park.

They're beautiful, you got an arrangement of white orchids, pink carnations, pink peonies, and white tulips for Dream.

They're neatly set in a tall glass vase.

You hope that he'll like them.

After hiding the flowers in a bag you drive off to the park.

You lean against the side of your car as you wait for Dream to arrive at the park.

As you mess around on your phone you eventually see Dream bounding up to you with a radiant smile and light blush.

He wears a pretty pastel yellow blouse with semi transparent arms.

The blouse is quite flowy and bounces with each of Dream's excited movements.

For bottoms he has simple black tights and cute flats on his feet.

You only catch sight of the yellow lace gloves on his hands when he waves at you as he announces his presence.

At least you don't feel overdressed anymore, Dream sure knows how to put together a cute outfit.

He looks a little ashamed as he speaks.

“Sorry if I was a bit late! I actually haven't been to this park before and got a little lost.”

You smile sweetly at the poor skeleton.

“You're right on time, Sunshine. Even if you had been late it would have been my fault since I forgot you're new around the area.”

Dream looks reassured by your words as his smile comes back.

“No! No! Let's just say it was neither of our faults. Um… so where are we going?”

You chuckle and open the door to the passenger seat for him.

“You'll just have to find out when we get there. Won't you, Dear?”

Dream seems to pout a little but accepts your answer as he gets into the car.

You get in the driver's seat and buckle up before you hit the road.

You set the volume low on some Pop music station as you glance at Dream.

He seems to be anxiously thinking about what to say so you decide to spare him the struggle.

“You moved here recently, right Sunshine? Where are you from?”

Dream looks relieved from the fact that you started a conversation first before he answers you.

“Yes! I just got an apartment here a couple weeks ago. I lived down South for most of my life.”

He chuckles a bit.

“I've actually never been in the North before but it's pretty nice here so far! I'm really excited for a Gyftmas with some snow for once.”

You hum with a content smile.

“I can't imagine living without snow, especially during the holidays. Did you come to Ebott with anyone?”

Dream sweats a bit when he hears your question.

“Well, technically my twin brother, Nightmare, moved here too but… I haven't seen him since I got to the city. I think he's mad that I was so insistent in moving away from home.”

You almost scoff.

More like he's too busy causing trouble for the locals.

“It sounds like he really cares about you if he left his old life just to stay close to you.”

Dream smiles a bit as he thinks about his brother.

“That's true… although we've had some rough patches we're still close brothers.”

You actually didn't know the reason that Nightmare had moved to Ebott City nor the fact that he still had a good relationship with Dream.

Perhaps you can get a little more information about the mysterious skeleton from Dream.

“You must have a strong bond. Why don't you tell me a little more about him? I might have to meet him soon if you decide you want to get serious with me after this date.”

You give him a wink and watch his skull flush.

He quickly deflects your comment by jabbering about his brother.

You listen intently as you drive and learn a couple useful tidbits of info about Nightmare.

You finally make it to the destination of your date and Dream has still not noticed as he's in the middle of an embarrassing story from when the twins had been teenagers.

You let him finish the story before you let him know that you've arrived.

Dream looks shocked and a little embarrassed as he nervously rubs his arm.

“Oh geez, I hadn't meant to just talk about my brother the whole time! I… I haven't been on many dates before if you couldn't tell.”

You chuckle lightly.

You can't really judge anyways.

“Don't worry. It was nice to hear you talk about someone you care for so deeply. I hope one day you'll talk about me like that.”

You lean close to his face when you say the last part.

Dream unsurprisingly reacts just as you had hoped as he stammers and blushes.

You leave the car and go to the backseat to grab the items you had packed for the date.

As you get the bag you hear Dream get out of the car and step onto the ground of stones.

You round over to his side and see the awe on his face as he takes in his surroundings.

You had decided to take him to the River since you already knew he liked it from Lonely Souls.

But he probably hadn't been here before as he has just moved to Ebott unlike the timeline in the game.

You gently grab his hand, snapping him back to reality, and lead him closer to the river bank.

When you feel that you're an appropriate distance from the water you take a large blanket out of your bag and lay it on the ground.

You take a seat on it and pat the spot next to you for Dream.

He sits on his knees and remains entranced by the water.

You let him enjoy the scenery for a bit before you lighty cough to get his attention.

He snaps out of his fascination and turns to you.

“I actually got you a gift.”

You carefully pull the flowers out of the bag and present them to Dream.

“I got them arranged especially for you but you'll have to be the one to figure out their meanings.”

Dream's mouth actually pops open leaving it slightly ajar as his skull intensely flushes that beautiful golden yellow.

He looks stunned as he slowly takes the vase of flowers from your hands and brings them to his face.

He smells them and the most radiant smile blooms on his face.

“I- I don't know what to say… T- Thank you.”

Dream is unable to look at you in his embarrassment but you can tell how grateful he is.

You take out the cookies to try and draw attention away from the flustered mess.

“I also made these for us to eat while we get to know each other. I wasn’t sure what you would like but I figured cinnamon cookies were a safe bet.”

Dream's eyelights sparkle a bit as he puts down the flowers.

His blush has not lightened at all but he at least looks less bashful.

“You really didn't have to do all this for me... I'm not even sure if I'll make for good company let alone a good date.”

You click your tongue and shake your head.

“Well I don't know where you heard that from but I think you make great company. I'm sure you'll be an even better datemate.”

Dream looks relieved and even more flustered if possible.

“Ahem. I actually have a gift for you as well.”

He looks nervous but eventually hardens his resolve as he holds the gift out to you.

It's a small golden suncatcher with a centerpiece of a circle made from stained glass that depicts an oak tree that's split with two different colored apples. Along the string that's strung from the stained glass center are small hand made glass figures leading to a crystal apple hanging from the bottom.

Due to your extended silence from examining the present Dream begins to feel some self doubt as he pulls the suncatcher a bit away from you.

“I-... I know this is probably a weird present especially for a first date… but it means a lot to me so I-” 

You suddenly wrap your arms around Dream's hips and pull him close to your body before you gently kiss him on the teeth.

The unexpected kiss shocks Dream so much he almost drops the suncatcher but is able to catch it with a bit of fumbling behind your back.

He brings his arms around you and leans into the kiss.

You pull away with a warm smile. 

“I love it, Sunshine. It makes me really happy that you think I should have something important to you.”

You had completely forgotten about the existence of Mementos until Dream had pulled the suncatcher out.

But, you'll have to think about it later as it's more important to focus on your date at the moment.

A bright yellow blushes shines on his skull as he brings a hand up to lightly touch where you had kissed him.

You hear him quietly mumble to himself.

“That was my first kiss…”

You politely pretend not to hear but internally fist bump yourself.

Dream's a very sentimental person and being his first kiss will definitely give you some bonus points.

Plus you've now completed the Sitting in a Tree Quest in less time than you had expected.

You continue to chat by the riverside until you eventually have to drop Dream off much to his disappointment.

But, you promise to call him tomorrow and he accepts your compromise with reluctance.

You leave Dream with a kiss on the cheekbone and get to Grillby’s after changing.

Grillby takes you to the back when you arrive at the restaurant.

“I… appreciate your help yesterday. I'll be giving you a raise.”

Your eyes widen slightly.

“That's not necessary, Boss. I'd be happy to help whenever you need me to.”

Grillby shakes his head.

“I insist. You deserve it for your hard work.”

You smile gratefully.

“Thanks, Boss. I'll make sure to keep showing you that I deserve your praise.”

After that small moment with Grillby you get to work in the kitchen.

As you sit in the back during your break you remember Dream's Memento.

Having a Character's Memento (be it Friend or Love Interest) means that you permanently get +20 Love, + 25 Relationship, -5 Obsession, and -5 Jealousy with that Character. 

This is especially helpful for Extreme Mode where all Characters are set to automatically dislike and/or distrust you. 

Mementos are given when you reach a certain amount of Love, but the requirement may change based on the game's current Mode.

You write down what you know after your skill activates like it had in the morning while you still have the time.

You hold a breath as you leave the back… goddamnit. 

You find 3 skeletons waiting for you but only one of them is new.

Black and Blue sit next to each other but Blue seems really upset over something and nurses a beer close to him as Black tries to keep up a conversation.

Meanwhile, Sin looks like he's trying to avoid associating with them considering how he's sitting much further down the bar.

Sin quickly notices you and straightens up with a charming smile on his face.

You give him a smile and wave before you head over to the other three skeletons.

Black looks relieved when you approach but Blue doesn't seem to care.

You give Black a questioning look and he just signals you for help.

You swiftly prepare two cocktails for the skeletons and slide them over.

Blue finally looks up from the counter to stare at the drink in confusion.

“On the house. It's just a Manhattan, should cheer you up a little, hon. I don't like seeing my customers down in the dumps.”

Blue picks up the glass and glances over at you.

“Thank You, Miss Bartender.”

Even with his verbal appreciation he still looks a little apprehensive to give it a taste.

“This Bartender Makes Exquisite Drinks, Blue. You Should Feel Honored That She Would Give You A Free One.”

Black quickly sips his drink to emphasize his point.

It seems he hadn't had a Manhattan before as you notice the pleased surprise on his face.

Hearing Black's approval Blue decides to give his own drink a try.

Instead of a polite sip he just chugs about half the glass.

His expression brightens a little as he lets out a delighted noise.

“You Are Right, Black. This Cocktail Is Quite Delicious!”

Blue quickly finishes the drink and looks up at you.

“Could I Get Something A Little Stronger, Miss Bartender?”

You nod and fix him a vodka martini before passing it to him.

You roll your eyes with a smirk and lean over the counter.

“There's no need to be jealous, sugar. I'll always have time for you.~”

Sin blushes a bit and tries to change the topic.

“i'd like somethin a bit unique. feelin a bit adventurous tonight.”

With a hum you mix him a Siesta.
