-Tuesday September 2-
"His name is Yuuki Shibayama." Nekomata said, looking him in the eyes. "He's twelve years old. This is the eighth house we've sent him to. I hope you understand that he won't trust you. Do you still want to keep him?"
"Yeah." Kai answered. "Can I see his report?"
"Yes, here." he said, passing him some pages. "Call me when you have decided. If you change your mind, we will find another place for him. If you don't change your mind, the child will arrive in three days." Nekomata said.
They parted. Kai returned home but first stopped at his neighbor Kuroo's to pick up his son.
"Man Kai. What happens in the end? Are they going to give you the child?" Kuroo said, leaning against the door of his house.
"If everything goes well, they will bring him to me on Friday at six. I have his report." Kai said, showing it to him. "I haven't read it yet."
"If you want, Shouhei can stay for dinner, he's having a good time with Taketora and Kozume. Yaku is bringing Sou and Lev too." Kuroo said. "You read the reports and then I'll take him to your home."
"Thank you Kuroo."
"What are friends for?" Kuroo said goodbye.
Kai went to his house and sat on the couch. Reading that report was very stressful but he had to do it.
He opened it:

His mother died after giving birth. No family member or friend of the mother could be found and his father is unknown. The mother was found drunk during pregnancy.
Summary story:
First foster home: failed.
Yuuki was removed from his first foster home after being found alone in the house for a day and a half. (0-1 year).
Second foster home: failed.
Yuuki was removed from his second home for neglecting to care for him. The infant's teachers called claiming that he did not bring food and they were not taking proper care of him. After a small investigation it was learned that Yuuki was not being properly cared for by adults. (1-3 years).
Third foster home: failed.
Yuuki was removed from his third house after arriving at school with bruises and scratches. An investigation was done and it was found that the foster family was abusing Yuuki. There was a change in his social workers. (3-6 years).
Fourth foster home: failed.
Attempt to be adopted. Unsuccessfully. Yuuki and his family didn't get along. Yuuki was left unattended and abandoned in the house for several days. (6-7 years).
Fifth foster home: failed.
Yuuki was removed after finding that crimes and sexual offenses were being committed in the foster home in addition to the use of drugs and alcohol. After an investigation, it was found out that Yuuki was also physically and emotionally abused. In addition to severe neglect and malnutrition. Yuuki was diagnosed with PTSD and anxiety. Change of social workers. (7-10 years).
Sixth foster home: failed.
Yuuki was removed from the sixth foster home after it was found that he was psychologically abused and neglected. (10-11 years old).
Seventh foster home: failed.
Yuuki was removed after being found with bruises and cuts around his body. During the investigation, a severe amount of bottles of alcohol and some drugs were found. Change of social workers. (11-12 years old).
Annotations:
The mother's alcohol consumption affected his height and the development of his muscles.
He has some health problems.
Yuuki shows no trust in adults.
After the various abuses he was diagnosed with PTSD and anxiety.
He appears mostly fearful and has frequently had nightmares.
Highly sensitive, he has emotional and trust issues.
He is very nervous.
He has problems when socializing.
Regarding academics, he does not present any deficiency or difficulty.
New social workers: Manabu Naoi and Yasufumi Nekomata.

The idea of taking him to a special care center has been in mind.
If there is no success in the new foster home the idea will be explored.
Notes about his health:
Short height and low weight. He has skin problems. He gets sick easily. He has some allergies. He has some wounds that haven't healed yet.

Kai looked up and sighed, one of these days his heart would break over the children's stories. He picked up the phone and dialed Nekomata's number.
"Mr. Nekomata. I'm going to stay with the boy. Tomorrow I'm going to buy some things. Is there anything Yuuki needs?" Kai asked.
"I'm glad to hear that. I really think your house is perfect for him." Nekomata said. "Yuuki has nothing. Only two sets of clothes. Buy him everything. I think he will be happy if you give him a gift."
"What does he like?"
"I don't know much about him, he's very skittish. But he likes Legos, I saw him playing with them in the waiting room to see the doctor. And he also likes animals." Nekomata said.
"Shouhei has a few Legos but I'll buy him one for himself. I'm going to put his room next to mine so I'm in the middle between him and Shouhei." Kai said. "I'll make a list."
"When you have the list, send it to me. In case you forget something." Nekomata said.
"Yes sir."
"Good. Naoi will take Yuuki to you on Friday."
"Great. Thanks for everything."
"Thanks to you." Nekomata hung up.
Kai made the list and sent it to Nekomata. The kids should still be eating dinner. Kai crossed the street and went to Kuroo's yard.
"Kai. I told you I would take the child to you later." Kuroo said.
"Hello Kai." Yaku said.
"Hello. I'm sorry Kuroo, I just wanted to talk to someone." Kai said, watching his son approach.
"Hello dad." he said.
"Hello honey. Are you having a good time?" Kai asked and Shouhei nodded. "Come on, go and finish dinner." Fukunaga went to sit next to Kenma again.
"I suppose there will be one more chair here soon." Kuroo said. "What's his name?"
"Yuuki Shibayama and he is 12 years old." Kai said with a sad voice.
"You seem affected, what did it say in his report?" Yaku asked.
"Seven failed foster homes. And a diagnosis too long to say now." Kai said.
"Seven?!" Kuroo said. "They've outgrown Kozume. He was in three different ones before mine and I adopted him when he was eight."
"Shouhei at two."
"It's not a competition." Yaku said. "Mine were both together in an orphanage. Apparently they are the most normal."
"You adopted them when they were four." Kuroo said. "Besides, Taketora also lived in an orphanage when I met him."
"They didn't send him to any home because he is impulsive." Yaku said.
"At least mine have half a brain." Kuroo said.
"You are getting off topic." Kai said.
"I'm sorry." they both said.
"Tomorrow afternoon I will go shopping." Kai said.
"I have to go shopping too." Yaku said.
"Me too." Kuroo said.
"Well, if the three of us are going to go shopping. Who are the children staying with?" Kai asked.
"They are 12 and 13 years old, they will be fine on their own." Kuroo said and Yaku and Kai gave him a look. "You are right, they are not efficient to be alone for such a long time."
"We can leave them in the park that has trampolines, arcade machines and courts to play sports." Kai said.
"Good idea. Tomorrow at half past five?" Yaku asked.
"Yeah."

An hour later Kai returned home with Shouhei.
"Have you done your homework?" Kai asked.
"Yes. Is there a new boy coming?" Fukunaga asked. "You seem worried. Has he suffered much?"
"You are very smart." Kai said, opening the door. "Yes, you're right. Change and go to sleep. Tomorrow you have class. The boy arrives on Friday."
"Okay dad." he said going up the stairs.
Kai went to sleep.

- Wednesday 3 -
"They are late." Fukunaga said.
"I know, Shouhei. They always are." Kai said. "Look there Kuroo, Kozume and Taketora are coming."
"We're sorry. We argued a little before we came." Kuroo said. "I got here before Yaku. I beat him." he said, laughing.
"And you're the adult here." Kenma said, crossing his arms.
"He's angry because I didn't let him bring his console." Kuroo said. "Yaku until you arrive." Kuroo said watching Yaku come running with his sons.
"Be quiet." Yaku said.
"It was Lev's fault." Inuoka said.
"We have to go shopping guys." Kai said.
"True. We pick you up at nine. They give you dinner here. You can't go out." Yaku said.
"Kozume eat whatever they give you." Kuroo said.
"Yes I know."
"Ha. You're 13 and dad still sends you things like that." laughed Taketora.
"Taketora, don't fight with anyone."
"Sure dad." He responded and Kenma looked at him bored. "Do not say anything."
"Sou and Lev, when you are going to do something, think about it twice." Yaku said.
"Yes Dad." they both said.
"Have fun." Kai said to Fukunaga. "If they come up with a crazy idea, don't follow them." He whispered in his ear and Fukunaga nodded.
"We're leaving. Be careful." Kuroo said goodbye.

"That list is very long." Yaku said.
"He has absolutely nothing. Everything he had either didn't fit or was broken." Kai said.
"Poor boy. Let's go get some clothes. Tora has broken another pair of pants and Kozume needs a warmer sweatshirt so he doesn't catch a cold." Kuroo said.
"Mine have had a growth spurt." Yaku said.
"They're almost taller than you." Kuroo said. Yaku slapped him.
"Come on." Kai said.
Kai grabbed six sweatshirts, a jacket, eight pants and seven t-shirts for Yuuki as well as a pair of new sneakers and some pairs of socks (Nekomata had told him his size and shoe size when he had sent him the list).
"I already have everything I need from here." Kai said with his cart half full of clothes.
"The kid is going to be happy when he sees that." Kuroo said that he had only taken two pairs of pants and a sweatshirt.
"Okay, I'm done too." Yaku said with three pants and three shirts. "What's next on the list?"
"Personal hygiene. Food. And then I want to buy him some things to play with." Kai said.
"What are you going to buy him?" Kuroo asked.
"Nekomata told me that he really liked Legos and animals. I'll buy him a stuffed animal and some toys." Kai said, leading the way.
"It's amazing that we always have Nekomata as a social worker." Yaku said.
"It's a lot of coincidence." Kuroo said. "He is a good man, you can see that he cares about the children. We are going to continue, otherwise we will never finish."
.
~At the toy store.~
"Which one will he like more?" Kai asked.
"I don't know," Kuroo said thoughtfully, looking at the Legos.
"I think I'm going to buy him the box that has a thousand pieces so he can build whatever he wants."
"Good idea."
"Kai, here's the cutest stuffed animal I've ever seen." Yaku said, bringing with him a stuffed rabbit.
"Thank you. Well, that's it. Thank you for helping me." Kai said to his friends.
"Don't worry. We're friends." Yaku said smiling.

-Thursday 4 -
Kai was tidying up Shibayama's new room when the phone rang. Kai verified that it was Nekomata's number.
"Yeah?" he picked up the call.
"I was calling to let you know that we will finally take Yuuki to you on Friday at five." Nekomata said. "When Naoi is there he'll give you some advice on dealing with him."
"Okay, thanks. I'm cleaning the room right now." Kai said sweeping. "Tomorrow I'll have everything ready."
"Perfect. How is Shouhei?" Nekomata asked.
"Good. I think he's watching a movie." Kai said.
"Well, I'm going to do the paperwork that needs to be done. You'll have to do it too in a while. And I'm going to give you a warning, he's very scared. Bye." he said, hanging up.
Kai finished cleaning the room. Now all that was left was to order. His son arrived with a tray of orange juice and a snack.
"Thank you Shouhei." Kai said, sitting down to rest.
"What is his name?" Fukunaga asked.
"Yuuki and he is 12 years old." Kai said. "But I can't tell you more."
"I supposed." he answered.
"Can you help me organize everything?" Kai asked. Fukunaga nodded.
They put the clothes in the closet, a basket with some bags like chips on the table, and the toys in a trunk next to a white wall.
