Chapter 1: The Dying Sunlight Hides Secrets
Chapter Text
His sleek black sniper gleamed menacingly in the orange glow of the sunset as the fading rays of sunlight hit the rooftop, bathing the man holding the weapon in a fiery orange glow.
"You know what to do, Viper. Eliminate the target, and secure the cash."
The instructions given by his Captain and fellow partner in crime echoed in his head as he steadied his breathing, closing one eye as he peered down the scope of his rifle. He was no stranger to this, there were countless reasons why dozens of wanted posters with his face plastered on them all around this small, western town to prove that fact, after all. He and his Captain worked as a team, and they'd each racked up their own bounties after countless years. Last time Viper checked, the bounty over his head was nine hundred million won.
Taking another deep breath, his finger pressed down on the trigger, letting loose a bullet from his gun that flew through the air with inhumane speed. Viper smirked subtly as the bullet struck his target exactly where he planned, bringing the barrel of the rifle up near his lips, blowing away the small trail of smoke drifting from the end. He never missed a shot, and he knew exactly where to shoot and kill a person with only one bullet. Pulling his bandana over the lower half of his face, he stood up from his crouching stance, vaulting his body over the side of the building. With practiced ease, he slid his way down the sides of the two buildings, a small cloud of dust slowly floating upwards after his boots hit the ground.
Glancing both ways, making sure nobody was around him, he dashed out from his hiding place. Sprinting towards the person who he'd just killed, he swiftly snatched the bag of cash laying beside their corpse, doing one last shoulder check before vanishing back into the shadows just as quickly as he'd appeared.
Navigating his way back to the hideout was simple, and he arrived back without any issues. Pushing open the hidden door, he carefully closed it behind him. Behind this door was a small hallway, which eventually gave way out into a big, open space that was full of plush furniture and a small kitchenette. Captain, who's real name was Kim Hongjoong, was lounging on the couch, studying a worn map with a bored expression clear on his face as he sighed in defeat, reaching up to massage his temples with his free hand.
Viper, better known to Captain as Mingi, dumped the bag of cash beside the entrance of the room, leaning his prized rifle up against the wall. He made his way over to the couch, dropping beside Captain and peeking over to see what the map looked like. Captain glanced over at Viper, then jerked his head to get a good look at the bag of cash by the room's entrance, humming in approval. He then glanced back to Viper, shooting his fellow assassin a pleased grin. "As always, outstanding job Mingi. Nobody saw you, right?" The older of two men asked, passing the map to Viper per his request.
Viper rolled his eyes with a grin, snickering softly to himself. "Hyung, what kind of assassin would I be if I was always getting caught? I'd think I'd be a really terrible sniper if I was always getting caught, don't you think?" He questioned, his brows furrowed in confusion as he tried to make sense of the worn map. Captain chuckled, shrugging lazily. "You've got a point. But you're a great sniper, Mingi, you never miss!" He praised, beaming at the dark haired male.
"Oh, trust me, I'm aware of just how great of an assassin I am!" He paused for a moment to smirk at his confidence, before clearing his throat and continuing. "Anyways, I'm going to get some sleep. I've got a big job for tomorrow, I was given a request to head down to the local saloon to… talk.. things out with the owner." Viper remarked with a mischievous smirk, standing up, waving lazily to Captain as he left the room and made his way towards his bedroom.
*The next evening*
Clad in a long black trench coat and a cowboy hat that hid his eyes by creating a shadow over his face with a bandana hiding the lower half, Viper's hand twitched impatiently, snaking towards his hip where a smaller gun than his usual sniper rifle was resting in the holster slung around his hips. He stared up at the saloon, scoffing in disgust at the fancy decor of two pistols spitting flames instead of bullets that were higher up on the building. The saloon's wooden doors had the logo burned into them, which was a chilli pepper. The words 'K-HOT CHILLI PEPPERS' were burned into the wood around the logo, but Viper paid the details of this building no attention, kicking the swinging doors open with his boot.
Strolling inside and receiving confused and scared looks from the saloon patrons, Viper scoffed, smacking a ball that was resting on a pool table as he passed it, which sent it rolling across the surface. He reached the bar, where the owner was standing, drying a glass with a small rag. Viper spotted dozens of wanted posters taped up behind the bar on the wall, most of them being for himself and Captain, but there were also two names he didn't recognize; Outlaw and Dune. The saloon owner then glanced up, noticing that someone was standing there.
The second he did, his eyes grew wide. He glanced over at his shoulder at the wanted posters, checking to see if the man in front of him matched the person who's face adorned most of the posters. Turning back to the assassin, he swallowed nervously, his eyes as big as saucers. "Y-You're him. The one they call...Viper. Y-You know, the police would pay me quite handsomely for turning you in-" The owner began in a trembling tone, only to choke on his words as he felt the barrel of Viper's gun press against his neck. Viper growled deeply, his finger hovering above the trigger. "You'll do nothing of the sorts, do I make myself clear? Listen, I just want some answers here... buddy." He paused on that last word, his tone sharp and serious as he narrowed his gaze. "Do you know someone by the name of Minjae?" Viper pressed on, his finger still hovering just a few meters away from the trigger of the gun, the threat of imminent death being mere meters away which caused the saloon owner to swallow hard before he chose to make any sudden moves.
The owner then slowly nodded in fear, his hands up in defense, as a bead of sweat made its way down the side of the old man's face. "Good. Because you owe him and his gang a lot of money. But, you're aware of this, I assume?" Viper asked, pausing as the old man nodded once again. "I-i said… I would get the m-money back to him.. I'm working on it, I prom-" With a pissed groan, Viper pressed his finger down on the trigger, the bullet of the weapon going cleanly through the man's neck and getting lodged into the wall behind him. His tolerance for bullshit and blatant lies that he'd heard a million times before was extremely short, and his emotions ended up getting the better of him.
Whipping around, he began to fire off rapid shots at the people who had rushed at him for attacking the saloon owner, and each of his bullets hit their respective target with perfect ease. His ears were ringing loudly with each bullet fired, but it was the least of his worries. He'd grown used to this. After all, as an assassin, you'd hear gunshots regularly. Within moments, everyone in the saloon was dead, and Viper scoffed, rolling his eyes as he loaded more bullets into his gun. This had been too easy, hardly enough to be even considered as a challenge. He clicked the safety of the gun on, placing it back in his holster.
Pulling his hat lower, he adjusted his bandana on the lower half of his face, never speaking a word as he left the saloon. When he got back outside into the town, he noticed the sun had fully set. Glancing up, he smiled softly at the sight of stars. One seemed brighter than the others, so Viper focused on that. He closed his eyes, making a silent wish that one day, he'd meet someone fearless like himself and form a close bond with them. This someone would be a person Viper could trust with each of his secrets and someone who wouldn't be frightened by the way of his lifestyle. They'd understand that he's simply doing what he needs too in order to survive, avoiding the strict rules and multiple bounties on his head.
He and Captain had sworn the day after the two of them met, that one day, they'd take down Z together. That man was the leader of the twisted, corrupt government and the huge dystopian city that was called Strictland, which was not too far from this western town that they'd fled to after escaping the city with the help of a infamous group that was hated by Z. This group called themselves The Black Pirates. The eight behind the revolution, the spies on the inside and the ones who have always escaped from the Android Guardians whenever they were caught. They escaped each time by using an ancient artifact called The Cromer, which allowed the user to travel between dimensions during a full moon.
The Black Pirates had escaped a while ago, but never returned. The people of Strictland had lost all hope for their return, and eventually gave up and forcefully fell back under Z's reign. The entirety of the Prestige Academy was the first to be targeted by Z and the Android Guardians, including all the young teen students who attended the Academy. Viper and Captain had always made plans to go to the academy and free the students after their eventual return to Strictland, but there was zero way they'd be able to free everyone by themselves. They needed a real team, people they could trust. Without people to help, if either of them were to be caught by the Android Guardians, it'd be game over for both of them.
Chapter 2: The Best of the Best
Chapter Text
*Meanwhile, in a building somewhere away from the bar, on the opposite side of town…*
"One! Two! Three!! And, the victory of this last round therefore goes to Dune, which makes the standings three to his opponents' score of zero!!" Outlaw announced, pushing up from the ground beside the man that his boxing champion, Dune, had knocked out. The other cornerman for Dune's opponent stomped over to his fallen fighter, dumping cold water onto his face, which woke him instantly. Outlaw sprinted back over to Dune, helping him into a chair, snatching his water bottle from the ground beside the chair. He twisted open the cap, and Dune took it from Outlaw's hands after the jet black haired male offered it to him.
Dune lifted the bottle to his bruised lips, a small trickle of blood running down from the corner of his plush lips. Handing the bottle back to Outlaw, he eased up from the chair, his fresh injuries causing him to curse under his breath. "Outlaw, let's get going. Go collect our winnings from the ones who betted on me, and..." He paused, lowering his voice to a murmur in fear of their hideout place being discovered by someone hearing him say where it was located. "Meet me back at the van once you've got the money. I'll be waiting for you."
With that, Outlaw nodded in understanding, and Dune exited the boxing ring. He cracked his knuckles as he made his way to the doors of the building, pushing them open and then letting them swing shut as he exited them. He quickly glanced to both sides, then ran off, with a bit of trouble thanks to his new injuries, northwest and eventually ducking down a side street and turning into an alleyway where a black van was parked and practically blending in with the dusky shadows of the evening. He yanked on the handles of the doors on the back of the van, pulling them open to reveal a cozy space with a small cot and a beanbag chair. The space held duffle bags with money stuffed inside them, along with small boxes shoved and stacked in one corner. The floor had a rug sprawled across it, making it more comfortable to sit on.
Dune removed his boxing gloves, hanging them on a small hook protruding from the side of a small rack opposite of the cot. He checked his watch; Eight thirty pm. Any second now, he would hear it.
A soft, familiar rev from a motorcycle engine came from outside the van; right on time. Dune grabbed some money from an open duffle bag, jumping out the back doors of the van to greet the man riding the delivery vehicle. He pulled off his motorcycle helmet, shaking out his dark, messy hair, which had previously been neatly pulled back into a small ponytail at the nape of his neck. "San, pleasant to see you this beautiful evening. Where's Wooyoung? He's usually with you, always running up to grab the food I bring for the pair of you. Gotta keep my best fighters in good health after all, we can't have any grave injuries if we're going to get stronger and take on the Android Guardians once we've all trained up our skills some more." The man remarked, craning his neck to see if Dune's coworker and partner was in the van. He placed his helmet in his lap, gathering his hair into a ponytail at the nape of his neck once more, securing it with a hair tie that was around his wrist and hidden under the sleeve of his dark leather jacket.
"Don't worry, Blue. He's getting the money from the audience members who bet I'd be victorious in tonight's fight. He'll be back any second, I'm sure of it." Dune reassured the dark haired man, who's name was Blue. Well, it was his code name at least. His real name was Yeosang, and he was one of the two leaders of a biker gang along with Django, which was his friend Seonghwa's own code name. This whole 'delivery man' thing was merely just a side job to earn cash for himself and Django.
The pair then heard footsteps approaching, and Dune saw the white and black patterned shirt round the corner before he heard Outlaw's voice. "I'm here!! Sorry, some guy wouldn't cough up what he owed for his bet, and I had to intervene. I wasn't injured though." He apologized, jogging up to Dune's side. Blue cut the engine to his bike, climbing off and rolling it to rest against the brick wall of the alley. He tucked his helmet underneath his arm, as Outlaw grabbed the three styrofoam containers of food that Blue had brought from the small storage box installed on the back of the motorcycle.
They all piled into the van, and Dune handed the cash to Blue, who thanked him and folded it neatly, tucking it into the pocket of his black leather jacket. Outlaw took his usual spot on the beanbag, while Dune took the cot and Blue sat on the floor. They all popped open the styrofoam food containers, and Blue took a deep breath of the smell of the food. He was a great chef, Dune and Outlaw both agreed on it. "So, did you guys hear," Blue began, stabbing his fork into a piece of tteokbokki, lifting it to his lips to blow on it. "There was apparently a huge fight at the saloon across town, and a fuck ton of people died. Someone shot everyone there, even the bar owner." Blue continued, popping the tteokbokki piece into his mouth.
Outlaw glanced at Dune, raising an eyebrow. He received a small shrug from the other male in response. "And how'd you hear about this, Yeosang? There hasn't been anything in the newspapers about that, at least, nothing I've noticed yet. Did you hear about it when you went over there for a delivery?" Outlaw asked, shifting on the beanbag chair.
Blue simply shook his head, swallowing the bite of food in his mouth before replying. "Nah, Jjong and Yu told Hwa and I when we went to visit them. Ya know, since they're undercover cops and such, they had the absolute joy of working on that little case. And speaking of, it's a pretty fresh case. They estimate it took place… an hour ago? Around then. So it's quite recent. " He answered, recalling what he'd heard. Dune nodded slowly, twirling the noodles of his japchae onto the plastic fork. "Bet that clean-up was fun, must've been a pain to get all that blood out of their clothes afterwards. Since I assume they dealt with it quickly and probably a few minutes after it happened, therefore, the blood from all the victims was still probably fresh. Did they at least catch the person who was responsible? Or do they at least have any clues to who it might've been?" The tank top clad male asked, shoving the noodles into his mouth.
Blue hummed softly in thought, then made a small noise of conformation. "Well, the only two people we know who are infamous for most gun-related kills around this town are the two assassins; Viper and Captain. My guess is that it was one of them. But that saloon owner apparently had owed Minjae's gang, y'know.. ugh what was their name again? The Dokka… something?? I dunno. Anyways, he owed them over five hundred thousand won. And it'd been two months since that guy said he'd pay Minjae the cash, so I guess whichever one of the assassins who killed that many people was probably hired either by Minjae, or someone part of his gang. To be completely honest, I'd also be pretty pissed if I was promised that much and two months passed without anything happening." Blue commented, scooping a forkful of bulgogi past his lips.
Outlaw hummed, nodding. "You're right, I honestly forgot about those two. Now that you've mentioned it, I'm also inclined to believe that whoever shot up that saloon was one of the assassins. But part of me wants to meet those two, to see how they work and just why they've got such high bounties. San and I, well, we've got bounties of our own since the fights we get ourselves into are, in fact, illegal. But not nearly as high as theirs. Ours are like, a couple hundred won. Nah, not even that. Last time I checked, Viper had almost a billion won for his bounty." Outlaw recalled, grinning to himself.
Dune glanced up, an impressed hum leaving his lips. "Not going to lie, that's really impressive. Props to Viper, cause that's some high numbers. I'm sure that Captain's are also high, so also props to him-!" The fighter grinned, glancing at the dark haired male sitting on the beanbag and giving him a suggestive half smirk. A tired groan came from Blue as he glanced over at the two, rolling his eyes at their behavior. "If you two are going to continue eye fucking each other over there, I'll leave you two and head back to Hwa. I wouldn't want to disturb…" He paused, eyeing the two suspiciously once more.
"This weird sexual tension that you two have going on. Seriously." He finished, rolling his eyes. Dune snickered, his eyes flicking to rest on Blue for a second. "Oh, but Blue.. we could do so much more than simply eye fucking each other, isn't that right, Wooyoung-ah~?" He quipped, glancing at the aforementioned dark haired male and reaching out a hand to place on Outlaw's thigh. Licking his lips slowly, Outlaw smirked as well. "You're quite correct, hyung. Hm, not like we haven't done more anyways, so it's not like it'd be something new." He remarked, making Blue gag at the lewd comments from the pair.
Chapter 3: Jumbled Pieces
Chapter Text
*Back at the saloon…*
Picking up a few bullets off the wooden, bloodstained floorboards, Agent sighed. He pulled out a small evidence bag from his jacket, dropping the small metal objects inside. "You found anything, Jongho? Anything at all that would give a clue to just which assassin did this mass murder? 'Cause without a doubt it's one of them, we don't have any other suspects who are known for this kind of stuff." The dark haired undercover cop called across the room, straightening his stance and glancing over in the direction of the purple streaked male who was on the opposite end of the room.
"Other than a lot of fuckin' blood, nope. No hair strands, no fingerprints… whichever one of the assassins that it was who shot up this place… they were quite cautious to not leave much clues behind." Bird responded sarcastically, letting a long and drawn out sigh leave his lips. "This whole police act is so stupid, how'd we even get into this situation anyways?? Why do we keep up the facade, it's so boring Yuyu." He drawled lazily, strolling over to Agent.
Agent leaned back against a wall, folding his arms across his chest. "You know how we got into this position, and we've only got Z to thank for it. He's the reason we have to do this, and we're doing it so we can get inside information and take him down easier in the end after we find more people than just Hwa and Yeosang's biker gang. Ideally if we could find out where Captain and Viper are, those two would be great additions to our team and to help take down Z. And I'm sure you've seen the two wanted posters for Dune and Outlaw," Agent paused, jerking a thumb to the blood splattered wanted posters behind the bar.
"We know from some other cops that they do illegal fights and all that stuff, so they'd be good physical fighters." Agent concluded, resting his head against the wall and sighing slowly. Bird hummed in agreement, nodding as he sat in a small booth. "You aren't wrong. Regardless, I'm still sick of pretending I care for the safety of people in Strictland. Well, no, that's not true. I care about the kids who go to the Academy, but that's it. Once Z is dealt with, we're going to free them and make sure they can be taught properly. Instead of the fucked up system they're being taught now." The purple streaked man deadpanned. Agent simply nodded, scowling at how scared those kids must feel because of Z's strict rules. Forced to obey his every word and listen to a message playing in their ears on loop constantly via a small device in their ears. No music, no art and no free will was allowed in Strictland after Z had forbidden it once he'd risen to power.
If only the Black Pirates didn't disappear, they could've helped. They loved defying Z, it was the highlight of their days. They'd perform and play their music for the citizens, which enraged Z beyond belief. But who knows where they are, so it's helpless in trying to even wish they'll come back soon… Agent thought to himself, reaching into his pocket to fish out a small photograph of himself, Bird, Django and Blue with the Black Pirates. They'd taken this picture after invading the Academy to perform for the students, which they absolutely adored. This was also the point where a group of ten boys were able to escape, thus forming Minjae's gang, The Dokkaebi. Why they chose the name of their group after a creature from ancient folklore, nobody knew the true reason.
The Dokkaebi consisted as such: Minjae, Junmin, Sumin, Jinsik, Hyunwoo, Hunter, Junghoon, Seeun, Yujun and the youngest of the gang, Yechan.
Sadly, ever since Agent, Bird, Blue and Django had fled Strictland after the Black Pirates' disappearance, they had yet to have seen any members from The Dokkaebi gang. Shaking his head in defeat and tucking the picture back into his pocket, Agent pushed up from the booth, standing up and making his way to Bird. "Dude, let's just go. Let's drop the very few pieces of evidence that we've got off at the station and let's just get some damn rest. I'm too tired to deal with this crap right now, it's almost midnight. I just want to fucking sleep, I'm being fully transparent with you Jjong." He muttered, yawning loudly and proving his point. Bird simply nodded, silently agreeing with his partner.
As the two made their way outside, Bird swore he saw something out of the corner of his eye. What it'd looked like was a young male in a button down black shirt and dark leather pants. They seemed to be wearing a cowboy hat, dark gloves and a bandana to hide the lower half of their face, but what stood out was the hair. In a brilliant contrast to the darkness of the outfit, they had bright blue hair. Bird also thought he vaguely saw the silhouette of a goat beside the person, but he shook his head and rubbed his eyes, only to see that there were no people or goats standing in the spot he'd thought he'd seen something.
"The fuckkk..? I'm fuckin' hallucinating now, I REALLY need to get some sleep, Jesus.." He muttered to himself, shaking his head and running after Agent.
Chapter 4: Formulating a Plan
Chapter Text
*On the rooftops..*
Captain reached out a hand, stroking the goats head. "Hey, Pepper, don't worry girl. I don't think those cops saw us. We'll be okay." He whispered to the animal, carefully petting her head. "Now, how the hell am I going to explain to Mingi that I found a literal goat and brought you back to our base.. I have no idea. But you're so cute, and I can't leave you out here by yourself." He laughed to himself as Pepper nibbled on the tips of his glove.
Eventually, Captain and Pepper got back to the base safely. Thankfully, or not, depending on how you looked at it, Viper wasn't back from whatever he'd had to do, so Captain wouldn't have to explain this new… roommate to his fellow assassin. Pepper seemed to immediately make herself comfortable, hopping up on the couch and getting settled.
Now, just why would Captain choose a name such as Pepper? His signature style when he did assassin work was that he'd always hide his bullets inside of chilli peppers to keep them hidden in case he were to run into any police, so it was only fitting for this goat to be named after something he had on him regularly when he was doing his job. He heard voices approaching, and he glanced over his shoulder and watched as Viper and, surprisingly, a member of Minjae's gang entered the room.
"So, you can tell Minjae the guy is dealt with. Hong and I will take care of the cash issue, so don't worry one bit Jinsik. Seriously, you guys should come chill over here more often, I'm sure Joong doesn't mi-" He cut himself off, looking at Captain and seeing that the blue haired man was petting a goat who sat beside himself on the couch.
He blinked in disbelief, looking from the goat and back to Captain in shock. "Hongjoong.. may I ask.." He began, ignoring Jinsik's laughing fit in the background. "WHY.. WHY IS THERE A GOAT IN OUR BASE!? WHERE DID YOU EVEN FIND A GOAT!??? I'M SO CONFUSED HERE.." He said loudly, causing Captain to burst into laughter. He wiped a tear from his eye, chuckling as he met eyes with Viper. "This, Mingi, is Pepper. I found her today when I was out, and I mean.. look how cute she is!! I couldn't just leave her outside, all alone! You're really going to let her live outside, when it's dangerous out there? Really, she's safer in here than out there." He pointed out, scratching the top of Pepper's head.
Viper sighed, shaking his head. "I hate it when you have a valid point. Fine, she can stay. Now.. back to what we were discussing!! Jinsik, quit laughing- Please??" Viper pleaded with a sigh. He grinned, his laughter dying down. "Alright, I'm done. Sorry, that was so funny, your reaction was the funniest thing I've seen in a while. I seriously needed a good laugh like that." He chuckled, adjusting his blue racing jacket.
"Jinsik, holy- Dude, haven't seen you or your friends in so long! Where have you guys been hiding?? We literally thought you went back to Strictland cause we couldn't find you ANYWHERE!" Captain asked, scooching closer to Pepper so Viper and Jinsik could sit down. Jinsik smiled awkwardly, looking down at his lap. "Minjae said I can't tell that information to anyone. Not even close friends. Only we Dokkaebi are allowed to know where the location of our hideout is located and nobody else can find out. I'd love to tell you, Hongjoong Hyung, but I can't. Again, it's not that I don't trust you, I'm just following what Minjae told us." He answered, still looking down at his hands.
Captain nodded simply. "Minjae is very smart for that decision, I respect that. After all, you don't know who you can actually trust in this town. Too many shady people who might leak that information to the Android Guardians and then they'd capture your group. Then, you'd be sent right back to the Academy. I'd really hate to see that happen to you guys, you've been through that hellhole once already." He scoffed, rolling his eyes at the memory of Z's voice commanding the Android Guardians to chase after The Black Pirates while the others escaped with Minjae's gang.
Viper sighed, leaning back against the cushions. "Do you guys ever wonder if we'll see The Black Pirates again? They were nice to have around, it makes me feel a little lonely without them." He wondered aloud, turning his head towards Jinsik and Captain. Jinsik shrugged, pulling a loose thread off his shirt. "I dunno. I kinda hope we do, it was the highlight of the day we finally were able to get out of that damn city to see how angry Z got after they distracted the other students of the Academy so we could escape. He'd gotten so frustrated and sent a bunch of Android Guardians after them, and he'd get absolutely furious after they would eventually escape using the Cromer." Jinsik chuckled.
Captain nodded, laughing as he recalled the memory of helping The Black Pirates hack into the speaker system around Strictland so they could play their own music through it instead of Z's control message that looped infinitely. "That was really funny, we had such a great time when we were with them. It's kinda sad you only got to see them that one time. They're all really chill, maybe if they ever come back, you could meet them sometime. After we kick Z's ass of course, that'll come first". Captain grinned.
Chapter 5: A Moment to Relax
Chapter Text
*Across town, in an abandoned dealership…*
"Hey, Hwa, I'm back! San and Wooyoung were being gross, so I left. Besides, I gave them their food, so no use in staying." Blue called as he rolled his bike through the metal door of the back entrance. After they'd escaped Strictland, luckily Django and Blue were able to find an abandoned warehouse that was big enough for themselves and the rest of the guys part of their biker gang. Django poked his head out from a doorway, grinning once he saw Blue.
"Yeosangie! C'mon, everyone's in here watching a movie, join us! Sungho made popcorn!" He called, motioning for the dark haired male to come into the room. Blue wandered after Django, following him into the main space where the rest of the gang hung out. The gang didn't consist of many, there were only nine of them.
There were, of course, the two leaders, Django and Blue. But, the other seven were named Archer, Rain, Cherry, Charmer, Snow, Thunder and Arden. They'd all come from different places around the world, each of them being a previous king of seven Kingdoms that were each sadly lay in ruins. Nobody besides the rest of the gang members knew of their pasts, and Blue and Django intended to keep it that way. If anyone found out they were past kings, things could become very bad, very quickly.
Sitting down beside Arden, who's real name was actually Jihun, Blue settled into the soft couch, sighing in exhaustion as he took the bag of popcorn that Cherry offered to him. He muttered a soft thank you, and tore the back open, his mouth watering at the buttery scent of the snack. "Judging by that tired sigh I just heard, you've had a long day, hm." Thunder, who sat on the other side of Blue, whispered, his words more a statement than a question. Blue scoffed gently to himself, shoving a few pieces of popcorn into his mouth. "You could say that, yep. Had to deal with San and Wooyoung being the horny bastards that they are, one of my customers was super rude and I learned that one of the two master assassins in this town literally shot up the entire saloon and murdered everyone there. All over a simple payment the bartender owed Minjae's gang, The Dokkaebi." Blue answered, lowering his head on Arden's shoulder.
Thunder raised an eyebrow, his expression a look of amazement and slightly stunned. "I- That's a bit of an overreaction if you ask me." He snickered, shaking his head. "Right?! That's what I've been saying, but nobody gets that. Like yeah, I get it, you were probably hired to do that, but c'mon. It's truly an-"
Blue had only begun his sentence, but was immediately cut off by a sharp shushing noise from Archer. "Ya, Blue, can you be quiet for a bit? I mean… we're trying to watch a movie, it's only fair to all of us." He asked, glancing over his shoulder at the dark haired male. Blue coughed in embarrassment, a fluster dusting his cheeks. "Yeah, sorry.. that was rude of me." He muttered, turning to the TV screen.
Chapter 6: Meeting a (potential) New Ally
Chapter Text
*The next day, with Viper and Captain…*
"Do I seriously have to watch Pepper today!? Ugh, I had plans to practice my shooting!! She's your pet, why do I need to take care of her!?" Viper was complaining, standing in front of Captain and blocking the doorway to the hideout. Captain huffed, shooting the other assassin with an annoyed glare. "First of all, Pepper is not a 'pet', she's like a roommate. There is a difference and I don't want you calling her a pet, Mingi. Second of all, you never mentioned you had plans, and I know you practiced yesterday. So you're staying here. Now can you move? Because I ACTUALLY need to do things today." Captain growled, folding his arms across his chest.
Viper huffed angrily, reluctantly moving out of the way, muttering curse words under his breath. Captain forced a smile, gritting his teeth. "I'll be back in a few hours, give or take. Don't do anything stupid while I'm gone, and DO NOT let Pepper out." He instructed sharply, shooting Viper another glare.
Captain made his way out of the hideout after receiving a small nod from his partner, taking in a deep breath of the fresh air once he was outside. He needed to visit the other side of town, since his secondary gun, a small pistol, had started to wear down. A few of the springs that allowed the bullets to actually fire as well as the lands that rested inside the barrel and helped the bullets spin once fired, were starting to get old. As much as it was a pain to constantly maintain his guns, he refused to buy new ones. The pistol and sniper he owned were special to him, and he'd rather spend more on getting them professionally repaired rather than buying entirely different ones.
He also needed to pick up a few more types of bullets, since the stock they had at the hideout was getting low. It wasn't an annoyance for him to walk over to the other side of town, since he tended to take the rooftops instead. He knew those better than the streets, and being on the rooftops offered a few advantages; High vantage points, more places to hide incase he was spotted, avoiding the eyes of townsfolk (which was useful when you have a bounty of eight hundred million won over your head) and it overall tended to be much quicker.
Within no time, he'd reached the other side of town, climbing down a hidden ladder on the side of a building that was at the end of an alleyway. For good measure, he pulled his black cowboy hat lower, and grabbed his bandana, tying it over the lower half of his face. Sure, his bright blue hair stuck out from under his hat, but that was the least of his concerns at this point. He strolled through the streets, passing a few people who gave him a confused look as they walked by, almost as if they were trying to figure out who he was.
Eventually, he reached the weapon shop, pushing open the door. He made his way to the counter, pulling down his bandana. The young male at the counter smiled as he saw Captain approach. "Well, what a pleasure! Kim Hongjoong, or famously known around this town as Captain. What can I do for you today my friend?" He greeted the blue haired assassin cheerfully. "Ha, good to see you again Suhyun. It's been a while, hm? But I've just got a small thing for today, it's my pistol here." He paused, retrieving the weapon from his holster.
"The springs and lands are getting worn down, and I thought what better person to come visit than the best damn weaponsmith in this town, and my closest friend, Kim Suhyun. You can fix this right up, hm?" Captain asked with a smile, handing the gun to Suhyun. The silvery-blue haired male studied the firearm, then hummed softly. "Of course, this'll be a piece of cake. It'll take a few hours at the latest, but you're alright with that, yeah? All this is free of charge, I would feel wrong charging for such a simple fix like this. And you're one of my best customers and friends, so it's the least I can do." He asked gleefully.
Captain nodded, smiling softly. "Of course I can wait, I wanted to wander the town anyways. So, would you say in about an hour to come back here? Cause I can definitely do that." He confirmed. Suhyun grinned, picking up Captain's gun. "An hour should be perfect! Well, I'll get to work on this, you can go out and explore the town in the meantime!" He beamed, before walking through the curtain that led to the back of the shop.
Captain exited the shop, taking a mental note of the time on the shop's clock before he did so. He could easily find something to entertain himself for an hour, it wouldn't be too hard.
He leaned against a wall, eyes scanning around the town to see if there were any shops that caught his attention. He was snapped out of his thoughts by a loud zoom of a motorcycle passing. He watched as nine more bikes zoomed past him, a bewildered look on his face. Before he even could process what was happening, he took off running, following the direction the motorcyclists had been going.
Captain had barely broken a sweat as he ran, still in hot pursuit of the vehicles. He was curious who was behind the helmets, and he also needed something to occupy his next free hour. "Crap, those guys are quick!! I mean, I get that motorcycles are speedy, but these seem even faster than most motorcycles I've ever seen!!" He muttered to himself as he continued running.
He followed the cyclists all the way to an underpass, leaning against a stone pillar to catch his breath. He peered around the pillar, watching as the nine people removed their helmets one by one. "Phew!! I won, but nice try Sangie~ Maybe next time you'll beat me, so just keep dreaming in the meantime, alright?" The one with short black hair and a black and orange leather motorcycle gear teased, ruffling the hair of another member who was dressed in a similar outfit, but instead of orange it was a fiery red.
Captain felt his heartbeat quicken at the sight of the motorcyclist clad in orange and black. His voice, even from this far away, was rich and deep. And he was obviously passionate about what he did, and he was also very skilled in it. Captain cleared his throat quietly, subtly adjusting his leather pants. He was thankful for the bandana around the lower half of his face, since it hid a deep fluster over his cheeks.
"Who are you, huh?! You're spying on us to turn us in, aren't you!" A voice growled from behind, a hand grabbing Captain's shoulder. He yelped in surprise, whipping around in a flash and kicking as he did so, knocking the assailant off balance. He reached for his pistol, his heartbeat pounding against his ribs. He cursed under his breath as he remembered he didn't have his smaller gun with him, and nearly had the breath knocked from his chest as he was roughly shoved against the underpasses support walls.
He blinked a few times, now face to face with the same motorcyclist that had caught his eye. Except he looked much angrier now. His hair was windswept and messy, and he was glaring down in annoyance as he used one of his arms (which were surprisingly strong) to hold the assassin down. "Who do you think you are, huh?! You followed us all the way here, and now you're SPYING on us!? You got a death wish, don't you!" He seethed, scanning Captain up and down. His gaze then seemed to shift in confusion as he slowly worked things out in his head.
His brows knitted together in uncertainty. "Hold on a moment. I recognize you. I've seen your face all over wanted posters, you're who they call Captain! Right?" He questioned, which earned a slow, confused nod from the assassin. Captain struggled in the cyclist's hold, managing to pull down his bandana. The motorcyclist's gaze softened, and he loosened his grip. He lowered his voice to a mere whisper. "Shit.. you're not that bad looking. You're quite handsome… The name's.. Django. Blue and I run this motorcycle gang." He told the assassin, running a free hand through his messy black hair.
Captain grinned, the comment about Django calling him handsome making him feel a bit giddy. "Nice to meet you, Django. Your gang is really fucking cool, and jeez, your bikes are so damn fast-!! Like, I know motorcycles are usually speedy, but yours seem faster than normal. Am I just wrong, or is that the case? Cause I swear I've never seen ones that are as quick as those." He asked, leaning back against the support pillar of the underpass with a relaxed gaze in his eyes.
Django smiled gently, scratching the back of his head. "A-actually, you're right. We've got special parts that make these beauties faster than normal motorcycles." He answered sheepishly, a fluster dusting his cheeks in the yellow tinted lights that lit the tunnel of the underpass. Captain nodded, finding it cute to see how passionate Django was about these bikes. "Hate to break up this thing you've got, but we should probably get back. Don't you think, Django?" The other male who wore the red accented outfit asked, tapping Django's shoulder.
Django sighed reluctantly, nodding. "Yeah… I suppose you're right. Uh, it was nice getting to know you, finally.. I've always seen your wanted posters everywhere in town, but never knew the person on them was so charming and handsome.. hm, who knew, assassins can be this beautiful… I certainly wouldn't have guessed." He smiled, then gasped. "Hey, we're kinda far from town, do you want me to give ya a ride back? It'd be much faster than walking." Django offered, extending a hand to the assassin.
Captain blushed hard, nodding shyly as he extended his hand to Django. The other male chuckled gently, taking the assassin's hand. "For an assassin, you're quite the gentleman I must say. Maybe…" He then lowered his voice, pulling the blue-haired male closer. "We could meet up sometime on the weekend and get to know each other better? I don't know who you truly are behind that bandana and amazing codename you gave yourself, and I'm sure you'd want to know more about me as well, hm?" Django asked, a small smirk on his lips.
Captain stuttered, unsure what to say. "W-well… we.. don't really have to wait for the weekend…? Do.. you have anything else going on this evening…?" He offered softly, starting to walk with Django back to his motorcycle. Django looked at his feet, sighing. "I… I really hate to say it, but yes.. the rest of the Twilight Gang and I have a couple tasks to carry out.. and didn't you have something to do as well?" Django sighed, giving Captain a sympathetic glance.
Captain gasped, remembering his gun he'd left at the repair shop. "Shit! You're right!! Can you get me back to the repair shop? I need to get the thing I asked the shopkeeper to fix for me!! I totally forgot about that, thank you for reminding me!" He panicked, taking the helmet as Django offered to him. An hour already had passed, time seriously flew when you weren't paying attention! He hopped on the back of the bike after Django had, placing his arms around the other outlaws' waist.
"Hold on tight, we like to go fast!" Django said cheerfully, the engine of his bike revving to life with a loud roar. "Let's go guys, we've gotta drop Captain off at the repair shop and then we've got some jobs of our own!" Blue called out over the roar of the engines, speeding off after Django, who'd already zoomed off back towards the city's boundaries.
*Once they'd gotten back to the shop…*
"Alright, I'll see you tomorrow, Captain! Ah wait, on second thought, where do you want to meet?" Django asked, pulling off his helmet and revealing his sparkling eyes. Captain handed the helmet he was wearing back to one of the gang members. "Hm.. how about the K-Hot Chilli Peppers bar? I'm sure you know where that is, hm?" The blue-haired assassin asked, adjusting his hat.
Django nodded, smiling widely. "Of course I do! I've ridden by the place a whole bunch of times. I'll meet you tomorrow night at sundown there, sounds good?" He asked, his smile melting Captain's heart. The assassin blushed under his bandana, nodding. "A-ah.. of course! See you then!" The blue-haired male stuttered, waving as Django and the rest of his gang zoomed off.
Captain hurried inside the shop, collapsing against the wall with a hand over his heart. "Ugh, damn you Django, how come you're so charming-?? Making a hard and rugged assassin like me stutter over his words and blush like no other!" He whispered under his breath, wishing his frantic heartbeat would stop pounding against his ribs.
A soft rustle of a curtain made Captain glance over at the entrance to the back of the shop. "Hongjoong! I thought I heard someone come in, and just in time as well! I just finished fixing up your gun, here ya go!" Suhyun said excitedly, walking out from behind the counter and handing the repaired weapon to the assassin, who took it gratefully. Captain gasped happily, running his finger along the barrel with a big smile on his face. "Suhyun, it's perfect!! She's as good as new! Thank you so much!!" He said cheerfully, embracing the other male in a hug once he'd slid the gun back inside the holster on his belt.
Suhyun simply smiled. "Hey, it's the least I could do for you. You're my best friend, so if I can help in any way, you bet I'm going to!" He replied, releasing the assassin from the hug. Captain grinned, a thought suddenly coming to mind. "Uhm.. strange question but can I ask you for some advice..?" He began, leaning back against the wall.
Suhyun nodded, prompting Captain to continue. "Well, tomorrow I'm kinda going to meet someone. He's not sketchy or anything.. but I'm nervous because I've never… would this technically be a date?? If it is, I've never done that.. so I don't know how to act or what to wear! Ugh, this is a stupid thing to be asking you about, I know-" He sighed.
Suhyun simply patted him on the shoulder with a grin. "Don't worry! You've got this Hongjoong, just be cool about it!" He said with a small laugh.
