How to Rid the World of Evil

Chapter 8: Isabel's Revenge

Chapter Text

Isabel glanced at her sister's hand. In a moment of weakness, a moment of rage, Isabel thought of everything she saw, everything she had been put through. Her fists balled up like little snowballs, pact tight and cold and rough. Her eyes glassed over, and suddenly she was glancing around. Skye was looking at her, hand still outstretched, waiting for Isabel to either shake it or shove it away. Isabel hesitantly put out her hand, and slowly shook Skye's. Skye grinned and put her arm down by her side with a whoosh.

Onlooking, Aria was distraught. Her mouth was slightly agape, her eyebrows folded in worry. Her eyes were darting back and forth between the two sisters, waiting for the next move.

"Great!" Skye exclaimed, folding her arms in front of her chest. "Now we need a plan."

~Elsewhere~

The floor creaked in an angry way, making Nathan jump. Mikah stopped and looked at him, giggling slightly at how jumpy of a person Nathan seems to be. Micah is thinking of ways to calm Nathan's anxieties, but is yet to find anything that way assist him. They are outside. Micah is showing Nathan around the abandoned street, careful not to make too much noise as to alert any police services that way be present.

"I feel like I should tell you the reason we want you." Micah speaks up, and Nathan perks his head up to look at him. "You see, all of us are guilty of murder, in one way or another."

Micah sighs internally when he sees how horrified Nathan's expression is at that news. Nathan lets out a noise, not recognizable as a word, it just sounds shocked and scared. They are completely stopped in their tracks by now. Nathan feels his heart racing. Were they here to kill them? No, that can't be right. What about-

Nathan's thoughts are cut short when he hears Micah speak again.

"We're like assassins, kinda. We are trying to make the world maybe a little less... evil." Micah explains, knowing very well Nathan is going to panic. "We only go after those with violent criminal histories or with psychotic or sadistic tendencies. People who abuse others. Never anyone innocent."

Nathan's brain went blank. He could hardly focus on what he was explaining, as Nathan wondered what would happen if he refused to join them. Would they kill him? Wait, if they're killing people doesn't that make them just as bad? Maybe he's enjoy the job. No, what was he thinking??! He could never kill someone! Unless...

"Helloooo, anyone in there?" Micah snaps his fingers in front of Nathan's face, and Nathan blinks, starting to comprehend the world around him once again.

"Ah? Assassins??? How? I could never!" He says in a rushed, panicked tone. He grasps onto the chest of his shirt, breathing heavily.

"Um, Nathan you good?" Micah asks, awkwardly patting his shoulders.

"No, I'm in a building full of teenage murderers! Where are Aria and Isabel? Did you do anything with them? Let us go!" He says, slapping Micah's hand away and scowling.

Micah groans. "They're fine. Do you wanna go see them?"

"Yes."

"Alright hot anxiety, come with me."

~~Location Switch~~

Nathan busts open the door with all of his body weight, and it swung open with so much force it hit the wall with a loud thud before swinging back, only for Micah to push it back open as he enters the room behind him. Micah looks exasperated and irritated, and Nathan looks scared and furious. Kimberly can't help but find amusement as to how much the two boy's height difference makes it look like Nathan is Micah's annoying little brother. Immediately the rest of the 7 heads shoot up at the startling sound of the door colliding with the wall.

"Why the hell did you bring us here?!" Nathan demands Kyra. Kyra shoots her hands up in defense.

"Dude it was Kimberly's idea, they wanted to recruit you guys."

Nathan's death glare shifts to Kimberly. "Why?"

Kimberly fingers with their thumbs for a moment. "I missed you and... I thought we my do good with your help..."

"Why did you bring my friends here? Are you gonna kill them?"

"Heavens, no!" Kyra exclaimed in shock. "They're here for the same reason as you! And the blonde one accepted."

"Isabel?!" Nathan asks, almost in a whisper. "How could you?"

"This is my sister," Isabel speaks up, walking next to Skye and putting her hand on her shoulder. "And we are gonna get revenge on my father."

"Alright, I'm down," Aria adds nonchalantly, fiddling with the ends of her hair.

Skye smiles. "How about you, Nathan?"

"Have you two lost your minds?!" He shouts. Aria jumps a bit at his rough change of voice from the normal, soft one he usually carries around. "You guys realize these are actual real life serial killers, right?!"

"Nathan." Isabel says flatly, walking up and looking up at him. "I am getting revenge on my father. You may be able to talk Aria out of this, but not me."

"Nah I'm down," Aria pipes up from her place on the floor, shrugging.

"My mind's been made. And I am not going to let you getting the way with it. My father has made my life hell since the moment I was born. He deserves this. Whether you support it or not, I am going to do it. So go ahead, report me to the police. But you are not doing that until I get my revenge. And you can't stop me."

With that, Isabel walks out of the small room, slamming the door unnecessarily hard behind her. Skye hurriedly follows her, not looking at anyone else in the room. Nathan stares at the ground. He knows he was in the right, but it stings that Isabel hated him so much right now. He feels his eyes water up, but before the water can fall, he wipes it and walks out the other door.

"I'm going to my room," He grumbles, sticking his hands in his pockets and hunching his back over.

Everyone else was silent. The six of them glanced at each other.

"What's up with people and slamming door?"

"I don't know but wow sorry they so dramatic, come on Noah let's go write some fan fiction or something," Aria says standing up.

"Oh, okay?"
