Summary
Ever since she was a toddler, Grace Chasity knew she was going to die for the sins of Hatchetfield.
It was an honor bestowed upon her at birth. She was His prophet, and when her blood is spilled, the members of her congregation will rejoice. The citizens of Hatchetfield will forever be safe from His wrath, their sins will be forgiven, and their debts will be washed away.

On her eighteenth birthday, Grace Chasity is supposed to be sacrificed for the Lord. But in the months leading up to the ceremonial day, Grace makes friends worth living for. As the clock ticks down, Grace has to decide whether she wants to fight to survive, or resign to the fate that’s been assigned to her. Luckily, she has friends who will stand by her side the whole way.

Grace could now see what was in his hand—the item he’d pulled from the cardboard box. It was a long thin needle, the eye of it already threaded and knotted with a red, vaguely elastic-looking string.
“Usually sewing is a women’s job,” he continued, “But I can make a pretty decent ladder stitch.”

She couldn’t go home.
There was nowhere left for her.
No one cared about her. Her parents would be better off without her. The world would be better off without her.
They’d mourn Grace Chasity despite half of her name being a lie, and they’d bury her under a little cross-marked gravestone, unknowing that heaven wasn’t where she’d arrived.
But it would be better.
If she was dead, none of this would have happened.
Everything would be better.
They’d all be better.
She just had to…Her eyes locked on the gun laying just a little ways ahead of her.
A sort of peace flooded through her. An acceptance, as she understood what she had to do.
She wouldn’t die for the world’s sins the way His son had, but maybe she could die for her own.~~~~~~~
After the events of NPMD, Grace can’t see a future for herself. Maybe she just needs help finding it.

As usual, Adaine couldn't quite see the phantom's face, its figure blurred around the edges, and it almost hurt to try to focus on it for too long.
