They are still here, breathing heavy while Aventurine mindlessly grinds on Ratio’s thigh as he watches, transfixed on the way the tiny crack of light cascades along the side of his face and catches the slight part of his lips, the blooming flush on his cheeks, the want in his eyes.
The situation is absurd, he’ll admit. Something is digging into Ratio’s back and he’s only just now noticed it, and Aventurine’s sunglasses, which sit on top of his head, are crooked. And despite how near they are, they’ve both somehow managed to preserve the wips of space between them and their lips.
It's stupid, too, to try to preserve something that neither of them want.

He half expects Aventurine to fumble his words or not reply at all, but instead, he says, “An incredibly hot fish man just licked blood from my torso. How else would I react?” He says it like Veritas is the fool for thinking it wouldn’t.
“You find me to be good looking, then?”
This is what he decides to focus on.
“As a person with a working pair of eyes, yes. Definitely.”
“I do not scare you?”
“You scare the fuck out of me,” Aventurine explains and Veritas is only a little confused with how human minds work, “but that is why you’re hot. And it helps that your body’s build would have gym bros on their knees.”

A long pause. The longest one yet. “Who says I haven’t?”
Lightning flashed through the window, illuminating Al-Haitham’s face. Half of it was still wrapped in shadow, blocked by Kaveh’s head, but he could see the distance between them measured, laid flat by the light. The lightning went. The room went dark. But the memory of Al-Haitham’s wide eyes did not leave him.
What did he want?
“Have you?” asked Kaveh.
“Have you?” Al-Haitham’s voice was so quiet, buried under the murmur of the rain.
Kaveh swallowed. “I mean…I thought that was obvious.”
Kaveh accidentally sleeps with Al-Haitham. And then...keeps sleeping with him.

Part of Kaveh's latest endeavour was to complete an academic paper on mechatronics involving the ancient technology from Ay-Khanoum. Unfortunately, he must decode an ancient language to back up his hypothesis. Even more unfortunate, Kaveh knew the best decoder on Sumeru's ancient language is living on the room beside him.
So instead of asking Alhaitham, Kaveh put a help request through Effendi, hoping to find the second-best decoder on Sumeru's ancient language.
(Turns out, the second-best decoder was also a piece of prick to work with.)
